Toyota Touch 2 – how to update maps and software

Toyota Touch 2

It’s easy to keep your Toyota Touch 2 with Go navigation system updated with the latest maps and software using the MyToyota customer portal.

In this video we show you how to update your Toyota Touch 2 system’s maps and software, and below you’ll also find step-by-step instructions.

To get started, you’ll need to log in to your personalised MyToyota area. If you’ve already registered, simply head to MyToyota and enter your email address and password. First time users will need to complete a simple registration process, which is explained in this step-by-step post.

Click on ‘e-Store’, and then scroll down to access the ‘Maps’ section to view available updates for your system. Select an update to get more information on your update.

Select the car to which the update applies, and click ‘Add to Basket’. If you haven’t yet linked your Toyota Touch 2 with Go system to your MyToyota account, the onscreen prompts will help you to do this.

View your basket by clicking ‘Basket’ from the menu at the top of the page. From here, you can proceed through the checkout process, entering your details and choosing the most convenient payment method – either credit card or PayPal.

With checkout complete, click on the ‘Purchases’ area to see your purchased map update and beside the map update are three icons.

To enable the map update you need to click on the KEY icon. You will be given a 16-digit activation key code. Please write this down or print it from the website using the print function.

The second icon will give you a set of instructions on how to download your maps, and the third icon is a link to the actual download. Please download the ZIP file, expand it on your computer or laptop, and save it to a blank USB stick.

Now take the USB stick and the 16-digit activation key and go to your car.

Plug in the USB and follow the onscreen instructions.

You can also update the software of your Toyota Touch 2 system following a similar process. You will not, however, require a 16-digit activation code for software updates. View available updates in the ‘Software Updates’ section of the MyToyota e-Store.

  1. Hi, One of my questions was “how do I know when the next 2 map updates per year are ready”. Am I expected to log in every week to see if there is an update?…or …. Will you be emailing your customers when an update is released? You cant possibly expect us to keep looking in the hopes that an update appears. As a customer, I feel I am entitled to know when an update is available, as I have paid in advance.

  2. Hi there,
Thanks for you post. After speaking with our technical team, we would advise you log in every other month to see if there’s an update. The next update is due in October so they suggest checking once a month in the run up. Updates are due in both April and October. Many thanks.

  3. Hi there,

I have just bought a 2016 Toyota Yaris Hybrid with Toyota Touch 2 (Not GO) sytem in it. I am unable to register the system in my toyota account for software updates etc as there is no such menu or proper guidline available on your website or owner’s manual.

Can you please help me how can I register my toyota Touch 2 unit in my toyota?

    Kind Regards
    Omar

    1. Hi Omar,
Thanks for your post. We’re sorry to hear you are having issues and we have taken note of your email address and have passed it on to our My Toyota team. Someone will be in touch with you next week regarding your issue. Hope this helps. Many thanks.

  4. My Toyota touch and go 2 delete my personal settings 10 seconds after I log into my Toyota account on the device. This means I have to rewire add my settings again. I cannot use any of the apps I’ve subscribed to. I have to say that this system is pretty poor.

    1. Hi Steve,
Thanks for your post. We’re sorry to hear you’ve been having this issue. Have you managed to fix the problem or is this still ongoing? If it’s still ongoing, we would advise contacting CR as they can assist you further! Many thanks.

  5. My navigation system is finally updated; thanks to information from elsewhere on the internet with lots of trial and error. Come on Toyota, you really need to fill in the gaps in the instructions as they only make sense with hindsight.

      1. I am deaf, can discuss with you let me know . Also how much sat Nat. Yaris reply me fast please

  6. Hi Ella, I have the same issue. My car is the Rav4 Hybrid ICON edition. can someone let me know what to do as well for this, would love to get a software update for the touch 2 (no go) that allowed apps to work. – would love the “glass of water” one, sound fun!

    Duncan

  7. Hi Duncan,
We have taken note of your email and someone from customer relations will be in touch! Many thanks.

    1. Hi Ella I also have a Touch 2 system in my Toyota Auris Hybrid bought half a year ago(no go system). I would also like help registering it cause when I enter the device it just says incorrect…

      1. Hi Arne,
Thanks for getting in touch. We have spoken with our technical team and they have advised that the long, alphanumeric number one uses to register to My Toyota is CASE SENSITIVE and must be inputted carefully. You may also need information from your V5 registration document and your registration number. If this still doesn’t work, we would have to recommend heading to your local dealer. Many thanks.

  8. I have Toyota Auris Hybrid bought Nov 2015. The satnav is a Touch and Go plus with Software revision 4.4.1WH and Map ID 2014v3. Can you tell me when an update for this is going to be available on the MyToyota website?

    1. Hi Graham,
Thanks for your post. Unfortunately, we are unable to say when the next update will be available. Usually it will be around the first quarter (Spring) and 3rd quarter (Autumn). We would advise keeping an eye on the My Toyota website around these times to see when the next update will be available. Hope this helps!

    1. Hi there,
Thanks for your post. We would advise going to your dealer for any Sat Nav updates, they will be able to assist further. Many thanks!
