Toyota Touch 2: how to pair your phone for calls, music and internet

In this post, we explain how to pair your phone with Toyota’s Touch 2 multimedia system, and how it can then be used to make calls, stream music and access the internet.

The following video shows you how to do it, or you can follow the step-by-step instructions below.

Pairing your phone or mobile device

Pairing your mobile device to the Toyota Touch 2 multimedia or Touch 2 with Go navigation system is a quick and easy process.

First, make sure that your phone’s Bluetooth is switched on and the device is discoverable.

Now go to the ‘SET UP’ menu on your device and press the ‘CONNECTIVITY’ button.

Then press ‘BLUETOOTH’, and ‘SEARCH DEVICE’.

When your telephone is displayed on the Touch 2 system, select it and agree to connect on your handset. Some phones may require a passkey to be entered – simply follow the instructions on your phone’s screen.

Well done – your phone is now paired with your device for hands-free calling and as a source for streaming music.

Touch 2: How to connect to the internet

Connecting to the internet

To pair your phone for internet connection, first make sure that your phone’s ‘Personal Hot Spot’ is enabled.

Now return to the ‘SETUP’ page on your Toyota Touch 2 with Go navigation system, where you will see your phone listed.

Select your phone’s name and that’s it – your Touch 2 system is now successfully connected to the internet.

Many of the functions and content of your phone are now at your disposal. You can use your Touch 2 system to access your device’s music, browse contacts, make hands-free calls, and download apps from the MyToyota e-store. You can also purchase and download apps for your Touch 2 system online at MyToyota – find out more in our introduction to the MyToyota portal.

At MyToyota, you’ll also find a compatibility checker to discover which Touch 2 features are compatible with your particular phone.

  1. Hi. I have a 2016 Auris TS with the Toyota touch and go 2. When I try to register my multimedia system with toyota, it says the ID entered is incorrect. I’m positive I’m looking at the correct ID, as I followed the steps provided by Toyota.

Any help would be greatly appreciate.

  2. AFAIK hotspot isn’t needed. You need to switch on Bluetooth tethering on your phone for it to work. At least, that is how it works on my 2019 Toyota Yaris hybrid.

  3. My Icon Yaris is connected via Bluetooth tethering, does this mean it is a live system for road information like works and safety features?

  4. I have a yaris y20. 2019. My phone is a Samsung Galaxy a9. Can I connect to the internet. I have tried, no luck

  5. I have a Yaris Cross with Touch 2 and Go. I am using my iPhone XR personal hotspot to connect the system to Wi-Fi and when I first enter the password it connects to Wi-Fi and the Wi-Fi icon lights. When I next go to the car and select my iPhone XR from the available networks is tries to connect but comes up with a “connection unsuccessful” message. I then have to remove my iPhone and reinstall it from scratch. It’s as if it’s not saving the hotspot password but there seems to be no way to invoke that. The iPhone hotspot is definitely active as my wife’s phone is connected to it for data when I get into the car. As you can imagine it’s extremely frustrating so any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance

      1. I did as you asked and wonder when I’m likely to receive a response? I’m assuming they will email me?

      2. Hi Jim,
        They should email you, yes.
Please let us know if there is anything else we can do to assist at this time.
        Thanks.

  6. I have a Yaris Cross with Touch 2 Go Navigation and while my phone connects for making and receiving calls the system refuses to see my phone when I select SETUP – WIFI. It saw if for the first couple of months but now it just fails to see it. Even when it did see it and connected, next time I got in the car it would always come up with connection unsuccessful. It now doesn’t even see it as an available network and I do have the hotspot turned on. I can connect other devices to the hotspot successfully but not the car. I messaged about this previously and I’m still waiting a reply from Toyota. To say I’m unhappy with the system is an understatement and I’d really like a solution.
    Thanks in advance

  7. Hi I recently had the battery changed in my 2917 chr and since then I cannot get music playing through the Bluetooth connection? The phone works fine but it’s just constantly saying loading on the screen. My personal hotspot is turned on on my phone. I removed all personal details and re entered them etc but it’s still not working. It’s really frustrating as I want to listen to my playlists on my phone?

    1. Hi Caroline, thanks for your comment.

If there is an issue with your vehicle, please contact your Toyota Centre.

      Thanks.

  8. Hi
Just bought a used 2016 Yaris Icon – works with both bluetooth and iPod just fine, but 9 times out of 10 when I get I start the car, the ‘Audio is off’ comes up. Is it a default that the audio system switches off every time? In my 3 previous Yarises the audio stayed switched on so it just started up again with the car. This is the first one I’ve had with the proper bells and whistles but I can’t see anything in the book about it switching off with the ignition (in my new-car excitement I might have overlooked it). Ironically today it did connect straight back to my phone but mostly, it’s always off when I return to the car. Also, is there a way to set defaults such as DAB radio rather than having to select my preferred settings or device every time I switch on the ignition?
