Toyota Touch 2 – how to update maps and software

Toyota Touch 2

It’s easy to keep your Toyota Touch 2 with Go navigation system updated with the latest maps and software using the MyToyota customer portal.

In this video we show you how to update your Toyota Touch 2 system’s maps and software, and below you’ll also find step-by-step instructions.

To get started, you’ll need to log in to your personalised MyToyota area. If you’ve already registered, simply head to MyToyota and enter your email address and password. First time users will need to complete a simple registration process, which is explained in this step-by-step post.

Click on ‘e-Store’, and then scroll down to access the ‘Maps’ section to view available updates for your system. Select an update to get more information on your update.

Select the car to which the update applies, and click ‘Add to Basket’. If you haven’t yet linked your Toyota Touch 2 with Go system to your MyToyota account, the onscreen prompts will help you to do this.

View your basket by clicking ‘Basket’ from the menu at the top of the page. From here, you can proceed through the checkout process, entering your details and choosing the most convenient payment method – either credit card or PayPal.

With checkout complete, click on the ‘Purchases’ area to see your purchased map update and beside the map update are three icons.

To enable the map update you need to click on the KEY icon. You will be given a 16-digit activation key code. Please write this down or print it from the website using the print function.

The second icon will give you a set of instructions on how to download your maps, and the third icon is a link to the actual download. Please download the ZIP file, expand it on your computer or laptop, and save it to a blank USB stick.

Now take the USB stick and the 16-digit activation key and go to your car.

Plug in the USB and follow the onscreen instructions.

You can also update the software of your Toyota Touch 2 system following a similar process. You will not, however, require a 16-digit activation code for software updates. View available updates in the ‘Software Updates’ section of the MyToyota e-Store.

When I followed the step it says, The software version is unable to take update.
Its a 2012 model of Yaris.

    Many Thanks

  6. Is it possible to connect to the Internet with just the Touch 2 or does it have to be Touch 2 GO?

I can pair with bluetooth ok and have enabled wifi hotspot on my phone but I do not see the option to connect to internet.
Software version is 01015C Is this the latest?

Also I am unable to register my multimedia system on MyToyota as it is not accepting the device ID.

Do Toyota publish a list of phones which actually work with their system?

I consider myself tech literate (I work in IT) but finding what should be a straightforward procedure in 2019 very frustrating!

    1. Hi Phil,

      2. I had this problem with an larger sized stick. I have found that the largest you can use is 64GB but 32GB is best for performance. In windows, you need to format the drive as FAT 32.. If you are using Win 7 or older, it should be a drop down from the format dive menu. If not it is a little tricky.
Open a command line prompt. IT is usually in the Windows accessorises section. Or you can click RUN and type CMD then enter.

When the command line comes up, type –

        FORMAT : /fs:fat32

and hit enter. Go grab a coffee. This will take quite a while.

This basically formats the drive into an older file system that is more universal.
It is not good for large files but perfect for MP3’s. After that just copy your music across and you should be good to go.

Used that method on a 64GB stick and managed to get over 6000 tracks on it working perfectly.

  8. I have a problem where the maps and car details screen on my touch and go are not working, the screen just won’t come up when pressed. Also the Bluetooth won’t work. Please help

      1. They said the unit is faulty and needs replacing, I was wondering if it was possible to reinstall the base software without knowing ID codes from the car setup screen.

      2. Hi Luke,

Thanks for your patience while we’ve looked into this for you. Without being able to assess the car ourselves, it would seem a replacement is needed. We would recommend re-visiting your Toyota centre to discuss this further with them as they are best equipped to assess the car and make any necessary recommendations.

        Thanks.

  9. I am trying to install Estore on my Yaris. When I download the files from the App Store I only get one file (swdl.iso) rather than a zip containing several files as expected. The car will not accept the single file.

    Any ideas?

      1. We have the same problem – it is an swdl.iso file and car won’t read it from USB. Very frustrating 40 mins! Please help.
