Toyota Touch & Go: How to pair your phone

Toyota Touch & Go multimedia system allows you to connect your car to your smartphone and access a host of features including hands-free calling and music streaming.

But just how easy is to pair your phone? In this post, and in the video above, we show you just that.

Pairing a device is simple. Whether you are using Toyota Touch or Toyota Touch & Go, the process is exactly the same.

Most mobiles these days have Bluetooth, but it’s worth checking which of the Toyota Touch or Touch & Go features are compatible with your particular phone before you begin. There’s a full list available on Toyota.co.uk

Press SET-UP
Then BLUETOOTH
Make sure Bluetooth is ON
Check your phone is in Discover Mode/Discoverable
Touch SEARCH FOR BLUETOOTH DEVICES
And when the system finds your phone, select it from the list
It will then ask you to accept the connection

If you want to change any of the settings
Press SET-UP
Then BLUETOOTH
Then PAIRED DEVICES
And then choose your device.

Touch & Go users can also connect to the internet. By choosing this option you are allowing your phone to be used as a modem, so you can make use of connected services.

Select CONNECT FOR INTERNET
Accept notification
Select your network provider

It’s a one-time set-up process for each mobile and you can have up to four devices connected at the same time.

    sham

    1. Hi Sham,

Thanks for getting in touch. Unfortunately, we wouldn’t be able to support with this. This is because we can supply accessory installation guides for the Touch 2 unit, but only for UK specification vehicles.

      Apologies for any inconvenience.

      1. So can you not recommend anyone? or any advice, or anything as both are Toyota products. Any chance of getting the installation instructions as that might help in understanding what the connections on the back of the unit are.

  4. Hi Toyota. I have a Touch & Go system for my 63 plate Yaris. My Samsung S4 paired with the system via Bluetooth perfectly. I’ve recently upgraded my phone to a Samsung S8 – I can still pair for music, however, when I make a call or receive a call the other party can hear me, but I can’t hear them. I’ve tried unpairing/re-pairing but without any success. Any suggestions?

      1. i have arav 4 63 number plate, the bluetooth doesnt turn on via the touch screen. im trying to pair up my mobile but unable too.

      2. Hi there,

  5. Hi toyota,
Usually when i start my aygo my phone will instantly connect to the car via bluetooth. Sometimes it wont connect at all. I have to unpair the phone from the system and switch off the engine, then SOMETIMES i can pair again when i start the car. I cant recreate the problem since obviously the cars ai has become self aware and wont connect if it doesnt want to. Is there a fix? Its not the phone, ive tried other devices and the same problem occurs.

Tldr; car connects through bluetooth if it feels like it.

    1. Hi Alex,

Thanks for getting in touch. In order for us to investigate this further, can we just ask what phone you are currently using, whether it has been updated recently and what is the Reg for your car?

      Thanks.

      1. Hi toyota,
        TOYOTA AYGO VVT-I X-PLAY 998cc PETROL 5 DOOR HATCHBACK.
Again I say, it is not the phone. I’ve tried a HTC, a Samsung and even someone elses LG. I’ve also tried a Sony mp3 player. Sometimes they have been fine for a few days in a row, but same problem comes back. If the car decides it doesn’t want to pair to whatever device, it just won’t. Sometimes pairing and re-pairing won’t fix it, but if i try again in 20 minutes time it will on the first try.

      2. Hi Alex,

Thanks for getting back in touch. We are keen to look into this for you and if you can provide us with the Reg or VIN of the car it will enable us to look for information specific to your car.

        Thanks.

        Much appreciated.

        Cheers and Thanks again,

        Another complaint on your blog.

  6. Hi Toyota

    I own a 2012 Avensis with a Touch & Go unit.

The unit is not pairing with my phone. I cannot access the Bluetooth menu. Whenever I press ‘mode’ on my steering wheel, my head unit goes into a boot loop.

I have also tried to locate the Device ID, but when I press Setup>General, it only displays Language, Beep and Delete personal data. It is not allowing me to scroll down to see if there is a ‘System Information’ option available to get the Device ID.

USB is only connecting (charging) intermittently when I plug in my phone through the USB port inside the centre console.

I have taken it to my dealer who doesn’t know what to do with it. Please help.

    1. Hi Anthony,

Thanks for getting in touch and we’re sorry to hear you’re experiencing some issues. Could you please provide us with your reg or VIN? We can then take a look into this for you with out multimedia team.

      Thanks.

  7. when looking for my CALL LIST I get this message ……..Your phone has denied access …Please configure your phone. All the other commands work ok . I have tried all known avenues settings on phone and Toyota Touch screen

Many thanks in advance Dermot Halligan
i use IPHONE 6S and my reg is 152d12040

    1. Hi Dermot,
Thanks for getting in touch with us.
We would recommend contacting the Toyota distributor in your region for further help with your query as we can only advise on UK specification vehicles.
      Thanks.

  8. My toyota touch 2 bluetooth is paired to my phone and usually works but today I tried to make a call and it just comes through my phone and not my Bluetooth. Its still all paired, I’ve disconnected then reconnected and it still does the same. The Bluetooth has always worked up until today

    1. Hi Kayleigh,
      Thanks for getting in touch.
First of all, you should try ‘forget this device’ on your phone and deleting your phone from the car’s multimedia system, rather than just disconnecting it. If that doesn’t work, you can contact our connectivity team.
They can be reached here: https://fal.cn/3dHXN
      Thanks.
