Toyota Touch 2 – how to update maps and software

Toyota Touch 2

It’s easy to keep your Toyota Touch 2 with Go navigation system updated with the latest maps and software using the MyToyota customer portal.

In this video we show you how to update your Toyota Touch 2 system’s maps and software, and below you’ll also find step-by-step instructions.

To get started, you’ll need to log in to your personalised MyToyota area. If you’ve already registered, simply head to MyToyota and enter your email address and password. First time users will need to complete a simple registration process, which is explained in this step-by-step post.

Click on ‘e-Store’, and then scroll down to access the ‘Maps’ section to view available updates for your system. Select an update to get more information on your update.

Select the car to which the update applies, and click ‘Add to Basket’. If you haven’t yet linked your Toyota Touch 2 with Go system to your MyToyota account, the onscreen prompts will help you to do this.

View your basket by clicking ‘Basket’ from the menu at the top of the page. From here, you can proceed through the checkout process, entering your details and choosing the most convenient payment method – either credit card or PayPal.

With checkout complete, click on the ‘Purchases’ area to see your purchased map update and beside the map update are three icons.

To enable the map update you need to click on the KEY icon. You will be given a 16-digit activation key code. Please write this down or print it from the website using the print function.

The second icon will give you a set of instructions on how to download your maps, and the third icon is a link to the actual download. Please download the ZIP file, expand it on your computer or laptop, and save it to a blank USB stick.

Now take the USB stick and the 16-digit activation key and go to your car.

Plug in the USB and follow the onscreen instructions.

You can also update the software of your Toyota Touch 2 system following a similar process. You will not, however, require a 16-digit activation code for software updates. View available updates in the ‘Software Updates’ section of the MyToyota e-Store.

  1. Hi Keith,
We’d have to recommend speaking with your local dealer if you need assistance, they should be able to help. Thanks for your feedback and we will pass this on to our technical team.

  2. I have recently had my software updated to 6.9.0H by my dealer. I now notice that if the volume is turned down that traffic news, speed warnings (and presumably camera warnings) do not work. I find that I can get around this by setting the volume to a reasonable level on the radio and then switching the input to ‘Aux’ where I have no input device. I then have silence except when warnings are transmitted. On my previous car I was able to leave it on the radio and turn the volume down to 0 and still get all the traffic and speed warnings. Is this a bug in version 6.9.0, a new feature (!) or a problem with my installation.
As I have a work around I can live with it but if it’s a bug perhaps your software designers could fix it for the next release.

    1. Hi Tony,
Thanks for getting in touch. You can adjust (e.g. increase) the volume whilst a Traffic Announcement is being broadcasted. We would suggest trying several TA volume settings until you get to a satisfactory level (depending how loud you prefers to receive the TA’s). Hope this helps.

  3. Hi, I have discovered that the “journey Planer” on your website has only one setting, you go the way i say.. you cant change anything.. not even the “avoid Motorway” option.. Please can someone mention this to Toyota !! I say get rid of the twitter option and have google maps send to car option !! much much more useful than having twitter…why would you have twitter !?!

  4. Hi Steve,
Can you confirm if you have Touch, Touch and Go, Touch 2 or Touch 2 with Go? Many thanks.

      1. Hi Steve,

Thanks for your patience. We’ve tested this on a similar vehicle and can confirm that when using the satellite navigation, you can tap the blue arrow in the bottom left corner of the screen to repeat the voice instructions. We hope this helps.

      2. Hi Matt, thanks for the answer, I would never have thought that would be the answer. I’ve always struggled to find instructions on the nuances of the sat nav, especially as new updates come along. Is there an e-manual covering the latest version. Thanks again, Steve

  5. I see from the email thread that several owners have the same experience as myself regarding updates to sat nav maps showing as a chargeable option on the eStore. You have advised owners to refer this matter to the local main dealer to update system software and maps free of charge (FOC) within the initial 3 years support warranty.
    My questions are thus:
    1. Should the main dealer automatically update system software and maps FOC when the vehicle is having a service at the prescribed service interval, or do I have to remind them to do this?
In my case I have a 2015 year model Auris Touring sports that is showing software at version 4.4.1WL and map ID 2014v3 and the vehicle had the first service in August 2016
    2. Why is the eStore showing the update to be a chargeable item within the 3 year free update period? Toyota has all the vehicle details, inc. original delivery date, registerd on My Toyota so surely the update should show FOC if within the initial 3 year warranty? Not being able to download the update FOC makes a nonsense during the first 3 years of the principle of My Toyota that owners have online access to service material be able to keep their vehicle systems up to date.

    1. Map updates are as clear as mud, can’t be sure which one actually applies to the touch 2 with go plus, is it the same map as touch 2 with go (not plus) ? If so, why is it coming up with a price when my vehicle is a 15 plate and registered on my Toyota as is the touch2 with go plus.?

  6. Hello. I bought toyota yaris 2012′ “touch 2 go” screen and I need install sat/nav, but I can’t check version
In general options I can’t scroll down to System Information.
    my reg. no GU12 DGO
    pls help

    1. Hi Sebastian,
Can we ask you to double check that the unit is definitely Touch 2 and and not Touch. Many thanks.

  7. Hi Sebastian,
Our technical team have identified that your unit is purely a Touch system. We would have to advise you to contact your local dealer to confirm this and confirm pricing of any accessories such as Navigation. Hope this helps.

  8. Hello Ella,
Sorry It is Touch & Go system.
But still when I try to check Device ID, there is no option “System Information”
    in “General setting”

  9. Hi Sebastian,
The device ID should be located under:
Setup > General > ‘System Information’
If there is no Device ID displayed within your multimedia system, we would recommend contacting your local dealership to check your multimedia system as Sat Nav may not be installed in your Touch and Go system.

  10. Pleasant fternoon,
I have several queries about my 2016 Land Cruiser, it was purchased in one country and when I moved to another country I brought it with me however the navigation settings are still set to where the vehicle was purchased. how do I go about setting the navigation to the region that I am in now?

    Thanks in advance

    1. Hi Ornan,
We would recommend speaking with your local Toyota Centre about this. They will be able to take you through a step-by-step process!
