Toyota Touch 2 – how to update maps and software

Toyota Touch 2

It’s easy to keep your Toyota Touch 2 with Go navigation system updated with the latest maps and software using the MyToyota customer portal.

In this video we show you how to update your Toyota Touch 2 system’s maps and software, and below you’ll also find step-by-step instructions.

To get started, you’ll need to log in to your personalised MyToyota area. If you’ve already registered, simply head to MyToyota and enter your email address and password. First time users will need to complete a simple registration process, which is explained in this step-by-step post.

Click on ‘e-Store’, and then scroll down to access the ‘Maps’ section to view available updates for your system. Select an update to get more information on your update.

Select the car to which the update applies, and click ‘Add to Basket’. If you haven’t yet linked your Toyota Touch 2 with Go system to your MyToyota account, the onscreen prompts will help you to do this.

View your basket by clicking ‘Basket’ from the menu at the top of the page. From here, you can proceed through the checkout process, entering your details and choosing the most convenient payment method – either credit card or PayPal.

With checkout complete, click on the ‘Purchases’ area to see your purchased map update and beside the map update are three icons.

To enable the map update you need to click on the KEY icon. You will be given a 16-digit activation key code. Please write this down or print it from the website using the print function.

The second icon will give you a set of instructions on how to download your maps, and the third icon is a link to the actual download. Please download the ZIP file, expand it on your computer or laptop, and save it to a blank USB stick.

Now take the USB stick and the 16-digit activation key and go to your car.

Plug in the USB and follow the onscreen instructions.

You can also update the software of your Toyota Touch 2 system following a similar process. You will not, however, require a 16-digit activation code for software updates. View available updates in the ‘Software Updates’ section of the MyToyota e-Store.

  1. Hi, I have RAV4 hybrid 66plate and trying todo update all is fine according to guidance but after radio restarts satnav should show screen with the reconfiguration process but progress screen doesn’t pop up I tryied everything and same result my software version is6.10.0WL map ID:2017v2
    please help

  2. I have a Toyota RAV4 Hybrid 2018 model that I bought in the UK, however the Toyota Touch 2 system accesses the toyota.eu website (for which I don’t have an account) instead of toyota.co.uk (for which I have an account). I was hoping that this problem would be resolved with the recent update but it hasn’t made any difference. I can’t access any of the Internet features as a result.

    What should I do?

  3. Toyota need to seriously look into the prices for Sat nav update, was thinking about up dating my 2016 avensis satnav, but at £140 they can stick it where a monkey sticks his nuts, I’ll plug me TomTom in instead.

      1. Wait till you hear mine I have a 2008 Toyota Avensis I was quoted £499.00 I literally didn’t know what to say!!

  4. Have just been quoted an astonishingly prohibitive £190 for a satnav map update for a 2018 CHR – apparently the cost is all down to the licence key for the software (no labour charge).
It’s extraordinarily short-sighted of Toyota to attempt to charge such a ridiculous fee – unjustifiable price-gouging is just going to annoy their customer base and turn people away. Surely no-one in their right mind will bother paying this? (it was quoted at £120 a few years ago on a Rav4, so I guess they’ll probably just keep hiking the price up to compensate for the surprising lack of demand…).
It’d be cheaper to buy a brand new TomTom (£85 – hey, go nuts, buy a spare) every year and chuck the old one away. And they do understand there’s a huge range of external free options, right?

  5. My wife’s Toyota Excel Yaris 2015 with SAT nav & Touch & Go 2. In the last few months the traffic speed warnings has stopped working. Can’t see anything on the system that could change it or switch it off.

Looking at some of the comments, it might mean it’s been dropped due to age.

Phoned the Garage who supplied and service the car, but I didn’t get a very convincing feeling from the outlying service reception.
Is this an issue ? or does it require an update on the software to cure the issue ?

  6. Corolla 2020 2.0 sport est. Hybrid.
    Followed above instruction and after un zipping download put onto a Brand New ,formatted Fat32 USB stick and took to car. {checked that was on USB first}
With ignition on, ignition off, radio on, radio off, No ignition still NOTHING.
Checked ‘source’ and showed USB with NO music.
    Have I missed something simple????

  7. Just got an ‘61 Auris, (doing 25000 approx so new isn’t an option) looking to upgrade the map, no one seems to know what disk will and what disk won’t work though. Is there anywhere I can go for a definitive answer?

  8. I just downloaded the software update for my Kia free of charge but I can see that I have to pay for my mother in law’s Toyota! ridiculous!

  9. I’ve just purchased corolla 1.8 hybrid design 2019 directly from toyota and was about to update map but when I saw £140 I just exit my vehicle hahah….sorry toyota but I’ll stick to me Google maps for free and they are way faster than this glitching slow toyota sat nav.
I like that car but nav quality same as reversing camera are from 1990’s
