Toyota Touch 2 – how to update maps and software

Toyota Touch 2

It’s easy to keep your Toyota Touch 2 with Go navigation system updated with the latest maps and software using the MyToyota customer portal.

In this video we show you how to update your Toyota Touch 2 system’s maps and software, and below you’ll also find step-by-step instructions.

To get started, you’ll need to log in to your personalised MyToyota area. If you’ve already registered, simply head to MyToyota and enter your email address and password. First time users will need to complete a simple registration process, which is explained in this step-by-step post.

Click on ‘e-Store’, and then scroll down to access the ‘Maps’ section to view available updates for your system. Select an update to get more information on your update.

Select the car to which the update applies, and click ‘Add to Basket’. If you haven’t yet linked your Toyota Touch 2 with Go system to your MyToyota account, the onscreen prompts will help you to do this.

View your basket by clicking ‘Basket’ from the menu at the top of the page. From here, you can proceed through the checkout process, entering your details and choosing the most convenient payment method – either credit card or PayPal.

With checkout complete, click on the ‘Purchases’ area to see your purchased map update and beside the map update are three icons.

To enable the map update you need to click on the KEY icon. You will be given a 16-digit activation key code. Please write this down or print it from the website using the print function.

The second icon will give you a set of instructions on how to download your maps, and the third icon is a link to the actual download. Please download the ZIP file, expand it on your computer or laptop, and save it to a blank USB stick.

Now take the USB stick and the 16-digit activation key and go to your car.

Plug in the USB and follow the onscreen instructions.

You can also update the software of your Toyota Touch 2 system following a similar process. You will not, however, require a 16-digit activation code for software updates. View available updates in the ‘Software Updates’ section of the MyToyota e-Store.

  1. Hello. I bought my Toyota in Jan, didn’t need to drive much, but have recently moved to an area that doesn’t show up on the map at all! I’ve been trying to update the maps through the store but there seems to be no option to do so (I only get the option of 4 apps and 3 are already downloaded) what am I missing?

  2. Thinking of changing my Verso, but my next car will NOT be a Toyota. Charging these prices for map updates (which are always out of date anyway) is ridiculous. My old TomTom is updated regularly for free and is always more up to date than Toyota.

    1. We’re sorry you feel this way Dan but appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback.

In the 2023 RAV4 range, the standard system provides cloud-based navigation that allows for accurate journey planning with information that’s constantly updated, plus live details of traffic and road events and how easy or hard it might be to find a parking place near your destination. Thanks.

  3. I have a RAV4 hybrid registered in December 2016, would you please tell me where I can download map updates, install it and if there is a general update for the Toyota Touch 2 with Go system?
My software version is 6.13.0WH Map ID 2019v1.
    Many thanks

      1. the links posted do not work and only open blank pages .. Toyota web page must be the worse ever .. can get any help, cant complain, cant get advice and just been quoted nearly £200 for a sat nav map update

  4. Why is the update sooo expensive.
I will be using my phone instead, up to date and reliable.
Just an Idea, how about updating sat nav maps as part of the yearly service.

    1. Hi Mike,
We are sorry you feel this way but thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback.
      Thanks.

  5. Can’t get my Toyota dealer to update mine at its yearly service or any other time even though I’m prepared to pay. Toyota don’t seem to care any more that all their customers can’t use the internet with the ease they assume they should. (I’m on my third Toyota)

  6. Similar problems to all using Toyota Auris Hybrid 1800 with a 65 plate, the Sat Nav updates are rubbish had to use Google independently on phone and Tom Tom both with no costs to update the maps.
Have three Toyotas in the household and newer one better. But had not been able to get this SatNav updated since bought new without a HIGH COST. Very Poor Toyota

  7. I got a Verso with in built Toyota Sat Nav (upto date) and it’s giving absolutely incorrect navigation from A45 to get to the M1 North at Junction 15 which is very frustrating because Toyota Map updation is very expensive as compared to Tomtom (my Tomtom update is free for life time). Can you please update why the Toyota map is incorrect and also is there any way to change this to Tomtom map

  8. we own a corolla 2021. I see for the 2023 model you have greatly improved the multi media system. Any chance this is available for update on our car. The system we have is well below par. Thanks in advance for your reply.

    1. Hi Carol,
      Thanks for your question.
Please provide your Vehicle Registration so that we can look into this for you.
      Thanks.

      1. Hi Carol,
