Toyota Apple CarPlay and Android Auto upgrade

Toyota is pleased to announce that owners of Corolla and RAV4 models produced since *2019 now have the possibility of an upgrade to their Toyota Touch 2 multimedia system to include Apple CarPlay and Android Auto mobile integration.

Compatible vehicles for Apple CarPlay upgrade:

  • MY19 Corolla in all body styles and grades
  • MY19 and MY20 RAV4 all grades excluding Icon

This multimedia upgrade allows owners to access the services included in their mobile phone on the multimedia display screen and action them through voice activation or by manually prompting through the steering wheel controls or touchscreen itself. In this way they will be able to safely enjoy applications such as Google Maps, Spotify, Amazon Music, WhatsApp and Waze without the need to directly interact with their mobile phone.

The Apple CarPlay and Android Auto upgrade for compatible vehicles will be carried out by appointment at your local Toyota centre. Toyota recommends that owners arrange to have the upgrade installed during a scheduled service.

* Depending on vehicle and specification, Toyota has installed its enhanced multimedia system as standard equipment since the 2020 model year. This means that vehicles with this system always feature Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionality.

      1. In that case, is there information on the type of Playlist files that the Toyota CHR will accept while using a USB Thumb Drive? (I have over 500 CDs downloaded on my USB drive, and it works for playing music directly, but I get an error when I try using the Playlists.) Typical Playlists use the PLS or M3U formats, but neither seem to work in the Toyota.

      1. Hi went to dealership after agreeing £150 upgrade fee but they now inform me that to get android installed that I must pay them another £250 for an unlocking key code I am not very happy at this and am not sure what to do?

  9. We have just had our Corolla serviced with Toyota.

    We asked about getting CarPlay upgrade whilst it was being serviced but was told it would cost £270. Not the £50 on your website?

    Why so expensive?

      -£50 with service
      -£120 as a stand alone fit

      Have you raised this with your local Toyota Centre to go through the breakdown of the cost?

        I did ask about the cost, as we knew about the offer for £50 during the service.
        They mentioned the car needed a ‘special key’ and the cost is standard £270 regardless of being during the service.

        The center is Hereford Toyota Steven Eagell.
