Toyota Apple CarPlay and Android Auto upgrade

Toyota is pleased to announce that owners of Corolla and RAV4 models produced since *2019 now have the possibility of an upgrade to their Toyota Touch 2 multimedia system to include Apple CarPlay and Android Auto mobile integration.

Compatible vehicles for Apple CarPlay upgrade:

  • MY19 Corolla in all body styles and grades
  • MY19 and MY20 RAV4 all grades excluding Icon

This multimedia upgrade allows owners to access the services included in their mobile phone on the multimedia display screen and action them through voice activation or by manually prompting through the steering wheel controls or touchscreen itself. In this way they will be able to safely enjoy applications such as Google Maps, Spotify, Amazon Music, WhatsApp and Waze without the need to directly interact with their mobile phone.

The Apple CarPlay and Android Auto upgrade for compatible vehicles will be carried out by appointment at your local Toyota centre. Toyota recommends that owners arrange to have the upgrade installed during a scheduled service.

* Depending on vehicle and specification, Toyota has installed its enhanced multimedia system as standard equipment since the 2020 model year. This means that vehicles with this system always feature Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionality.

  4. Is CarPlay upgrade available for Toyota CHR 2019 (YV68SVA) please.
    Or i can buy licence to upgrade to have sat nav as well?

  7. It is really disconcerting to finally discover that Toyota will not offer a retrofit of the Apple Car Play to their C-HR models. If it has been made possible for Corolla and Rav 4, why not for the equally expensive and prestigious C-HR range? This update ought to be made available even perhaps with a more expensive option.

  9. Seen as a lot of the comments are in relation to 18/19 plate CH-R cars, does Toyota not see that there is justifiable need to make this upgrade available for CH-R owners? This would be a money maker for Toyota as well as boosting the value and brand confidence within the industry. I was shocked to find my 2019 plate CH-R does not have the apple play feature.
    Toyota have recognised the need to upgrade the Corolla and RAV4, why not the CH-R? Time for Toyota to listen to its loyal customers and come up with a solution

      The Toyota C-HR is fitted with a media system that is incompatible with the retrofit, meaning that we cannot provide the upgrade for this vehicle. However, new vehicles come with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto from factory.

      1. Interesting. I’d like to know how it works then because I can’t see an option for Apple car play.

      3. Thanks. Looks like I’ll have to get the software updated as I’ve not got the options available although it would seem the model should be capable of this.
