Compatible phone list is out of date..
For example, Sony Xperia S has updated firmware – Android 4.1.2
Also Xperia Z doesn’t appear to be in the list.
Should these phones with their Android versions be OK to send SMS with Touch and Go?
OOps… I meant Sony Xperia T!has updated firmware – Android 4.1.2
Xperia T with Android 4.1.2 works OK for text messaging..
Need to check to see if Internet functions work and a profile for that exists! Maybe the mobile signal was weak…
Hi Raymond,
Apologies in the delay getting back to you.
We can only comment on phones and firmware that are listed on the compatibility site. This site is compiled by people manually testing the phones therefore sometimes the latest phones aren’t listed and it isn’t possible to test every phone with every firmware update. However it is very unusual for a phone company to remove a Bluetooth profile during an update.
Cover art isn’t shown when connecting via Bluetooth or the Axillary socket and is only shown when saved in a JPEG format.
If the vehicle is fitted with Touch only (without navigation) album cover art should be available when using an iPod via the USB connection however this won’t be shown when using a USB stick.
If the vehicle is fitted with Touch & Go (with navigation) album cover art should be shown with an iPod or USB stick (where compatible) when connected via the USB port. You shouldn’t need to change any settings for any of this to work.
We do hope this helps.
Thanks for your reply. I discovered most things.
Just need to re-check internet access but I do know that the signal for my mobile network provider is weak where I live.
I wish there was a way to install a Japanese font on the Touch & Go system so that my address book would show all Japanese contacts… and..
to have a Japanese font would also mean that album information is displayed correctly.
Second question.
In the showroom, I tried an iPod Touch 64gb and a USB Flash drive, and also a SD memory card reader in the Touch and Go USB port but could not get the Album Art to display.
I understand it does not display using the line in or via Bluetooth.
The saleperson tried his iPhone and could not make the Album Art visible either.
I read on another forum that I need to go to Setup-> General -> Display Captured Images.
Is this correct? I collect my T Spirit next week!
Thanks!
Hi Raymond,
Thank you for your questions on the Touch & Go.
Could you please confirm the model you are referencing, we’ll then be able to look into this for you.
Many thanks.
Thanks for your reply, Amy,
do you mean the model of the car? I wrote ” I collect my T Spirit next week!”
Hi Raymond,
Thank you for your response with the grade of your vehicle.
I wondered if you could possibly let us know what car you are referencing e.g. Avensis, Prius, Yaris?
Apologies if I have missed this.
Many thanks.
sorry about that… It’s a Yaris T Spirit!
Thanks Raymond,
We’ve been in touch with the relevant department for an answer and will come back to you once we’ve an answer!
In the meantime, may we wish you a good long Easter weekend.
Hi i have a 2012 auris hsd with the upgrade to touch and go. Now my phone is compatable to send text messages with the upgraded bluetooth but my system doesnt have this. How do i update my bluetooth software?
Hi Tez,
You can find out more about the Touch & Go SMS messaging function on page 168 of the Touch Owner’s Manual.
Some mobile phones have settings that need to be changed for this functionality to work, if you could possibly let us know which phone you have we can look into this for you.
Many thanks.
Hi its a samsung galaxy s 3.
Thanks
My wife collected her new Yaris SR today and the Album Art works fine.
Should collect my Yaris T Spirit next week.
It’s a pity that song titles and artists that are written in Japanese/Chinese cannot be displayed.
Should be very easy for Toyota to achieve that on non-Japanese market Toyota cars!
Hi
we collected our yaris t-spirit a few weeks ago, and i am using a usb stick with all my music on it. I keep getting an error saying usb drawing too much power and the system turns off.
i have tested the usb stick on my other car, and on my laptop and it works fine. the car has been back to the dealer twice now and they still can’t find the problem.
any ideas?
thanks
forgot to mention it is a touch and go
Hi Jason,
We recommend trying another USB stick to see if this helps. If this doesn’t, then you may need to take the car and USB stick to the Dealer again. The Dealer can then call us when the vehicle is there and we can diagnose the problem. It’s difficult to do this without having a little more insight into the potential issues. We hope you can understand this and we’ll try to help as much as we can.
Best wishes.
I am thinking of buying my next Toyota with Touch and Go. Can you give me an idea of the cost of map updates?
Also Google seems to be the only search provider. I do not want to be tracked by Google – are there any alternatives?
In particular I normally use DuckDuckgo (a privacy oriented derivative of Bing) for search. Is there any possibility I could use this?
I will post this as a new query…
Is there a way to install a Japanese font on the Touch & Go system so that my address book would show all Japanese contacts… and..
it would also mean that album information is displayed correctly.
This should be very easy for Toyota to do!
Morning Raymond,
Touch & Go is a European system, therefore Japanese won’t display. Sorry!
Many thanks and kind regards.
Hello Oliwer,
I understand that.
It’s very disappointing though. It is obvious that Japanese people do not only live in Japan and therefore would like to see the address book from the phone in Japanese on the Touch & Go screen.
The phone for the European market supports Japanese, iPad’s, Android Tablets, Mac and Windows computers all support Japanese.
Please feedback to Toyoto Japan about this.
