  1. Toyota Yaris Hybrid with T+Go… When I update the music files on USB sticks these either do not show on the in car screen or the appear as ‘unknown artist/title etc etc’. Is there a way to force a reindexing?

    1. Hi Paul,
We suspect this may be due to either the format of the information or because the tracks are being added to the stick after the initial tracks causing a formatting issue.
We would suggest that you check the new tracks have the ‘track information’ stored in the same format as the previous tracks. If this is OK, it may be worth removing the tracks from the stick to your PC, re-formatting the stick and transferring the files back to the stick.
      Hope this helps.

      1. Hi Oliwer,
Thanks for your response. The music files I added to the sticks were in the same format in every sense. I am not surprised but I am totally downheartened that the ‘solution’ will involve formatting (erasing) the sticks and then reuploading the music files.
This is a time consuming procedure on a 16gB stick, on a 64gB stick it’ll take the best part of a day, The fact that Toyota can sell a media system that has such fundamental drawbacks actually beggars belief since the vehicle itself is more-or-less perfection.
        Thanks, Paul.

  2. Hi I still haven’t found a solution to my issue accessing the music menu on the Toyota Touch (without navigation). Dealership can’t find a solution either?

    1. Hi Andrew,
Sorry for the delay with this, our technical team have been trying to locate a vehicle and phone to see if they can replicate the issue.
Our first recommendation would be to delete the pairing from the phone and car, switch the phone off and reboot your device. Once you have done this please then re-pair the phone to the car. If this doesn’t work it may also be worth trying another phone in the vehicle to see if this works?
      Hope this helps.

  3. I’m afraid this hasn’t resolved the situation. We have exactly the same issue with my wife’s iPhone 4S too.

    1. I had exactly the same issues with my Samsung Galaxy S3. After many email exchanges with customer services and visits to my local dealership I realised that Toyota had launched a product that simply did not work properly and that they were unlikely to provide a fix in a timely manner… so I simply gave up!

  4. Update on the satnav updates…
Following on from posts here between 25 July and 1 August, I now see from Toyota Touch & Go Toolbox that a new update is available EUL20130409 . Is this the delayed July map update that Kerry mentioned on 26 July 16:31?? There’s no way of telling from the Toolbox, only that it costs – yes, you’ve guessed – another £109.
That’s bad enough seeing that a number of us – me included – had forked out £109 as recently as June 2013 for the previous update EUL20121019, without any means of knowing the release schedule. So are we expected to pay through the nose yet again, and so soon??
And another thing, I’ve just looked again at the invoice for the old update and I see that 27% VAT was applied. Why? As far as I know, in the UK the rate is still 20%.
Can we have some answers from Toyota please?

  5. I have since purchased a stand-alone Tom-Tom for under £100 with lifetime map and speed camera updates.

Having paid £600 for the option of the SatNav believing it would be TomTom as was in my Aygo I part exchanged only to find that the satnav installed was not TomTom and I would have to pay £109 for every map update I was astounded. Had I been given the full information at the time of buying my car I would never in a million years have paid £600 for the satnav.

I specifically asked for Tomtom as I already had an account with them for which I was paying £20 a year for as many updates are issued during the year, usually at least four!

When mentioning this I was informed that the satnav is made by TomTom!!!

Very disappointed with the satnav but delighted with the car though it niggles me to know that I have wasted £600!

I think Toyota should advise customers prior to purchase of the satnav what the update costs will be as it is not doing very much for their profile to keep us in the dark only to find out after we have paid the extra for the satnav. Quite honestly, I thought £600 for the unit in the first place was steep but believing I could continue with my TomTom account I thought well it is a one off payment onlly to be told after I had collected the car of the continuing update costs.

  6. Hi in response to Russell re DAB on touch and go , I fitted a DAB from my IQ to my new AURIS works fine dealer told me initially could not be done so I showed them how is plug and play. Very easy to DIY fit if you want to. DAB unit can be purchased from pentagon toyota now called Burrows by post they gave me best price when I was phoning round dealers. You can find them on eBay occasionally but won’t have Aries with them so you will have to check price of Ariel with dealer and factor it in if you buy a second hand one.

  7. The problem with touch and go is really down to very poor dealer understanding and bad training by toyota.

The system is great when it is set up but due to poor dealer understanding and training of sales staff the product becomes a frustration not a joy.

At point of sale it should be explained about the costs of the map updates and option to purchase plus system which includes better features such as voice control and several years map updates the dealers don’t realise this mine was trying to charge a customer with plus for a map update, they didn’t realise they should have done via his toolbox account and it would be free.

A class 10 USB stick should be provided with the car with tool box on it, I had a lot of trouble finding a copy to down load from a reliable site. Class 10 sticks are fast to upload down load data.

The salesmen should explain about phone compatibility, there is an online list of which features work with which phone, it also needs explaining that you need to be able to tether your phone to act as a modem, many networks are ot allowing this or withdrawing the option, 3 and voda phone will allow it. Virgin is withdrawing option as contracts expire and no longer allowing it on new ones.

This is becoming bad publicity for an excellent product COME ON TOYOTA SORT YOUR ACT OUT its ot rocket science

Toyota should realise that many customers are not it experts and set the whole system up for customers I ve trained my mum in her mid seventies to use it but she had givens up trying to set it up, the instructions are not good.

  8. I am trying to register for Touch on the HiLux I have just acquired that is 4 months old and although it says register on line I can not get past the list of Countries which does not include UK or England !! Anyone know how I can progress this as the Dingles Garage says I have to take it in to the garage to do so ?

    1. Hi Pat,
Thank you for taking the time to contact us.
If you are trying to register your “Touch” (multimedia) system in your Hilux, this is not necessary as this only applies to the “GO” element (satellite navigation).
      Hope this helps.

  9. Hi, Is there a new map update ready for the T and G plus? Also, it was reported on here as a known fault that the unit can start to play the usb stick on start up, has this been resolved as yet?

    1. Hi Mark,
Thank you for getting in touch.
There is a new map update it is: EUH20130409 and is available to download or you can visit your local Toyota Dealer and they’ll be able to do this for you. The USB audio issue has also been addressed in the included software update.
      Hope this helps.

      1. Hi Kerry,

Thanks for the info. New update loaded all ok, except issue with USB playing when unit is activated is still NOT resolved. Any chance this could be added?

      2. Hi Mark,
Just a had a quick word with technical who would appreciate a bit more information to help advise you further on this. Can you let us know what you have plugged into the USB when the issue occurs? Is it just a USB stick or a phone/media player and if so which model?
Thanks for your help with this.

      3. Hi David,

Thanks for the follow up which is appreciated. This is a problem I have had since day 1 of my 13 reg Prius T-Spirit, whenever the USB stick is plugged in then on initial start of the car on 8 out of 10 occasions the unit will play music off the USB, it matters not what stick is plugged in I have tried so many! I have deselected the USB when turning the vehicle off but it makes no difference!

Connected to the unit is a blackberry 9900 via bluetooth, but again this makes no difference if the phone is not in the vehicle.

The unit is slow to boot and offer all features which I take as normal, for instance voice recogintion will not work until the unit has been switched on for at least 30 secs.

I was hoping the recent update would have solved, but unfortunately not.

  10. Hi if I plug an external hard drive into the USB port on my 2013 yaris will this work rather than me having to transfer it all to an iPod?

    1. Hi Charlotte,
      Thanks for contacting us.
You can use a USB stick but we do not believe a hard drive will work. We would only recommend using the storage devices listed in the owners manual.
      Hope this helps.
