  1. I now have a number of destinations stored in my Touch and Go. The system stores them under the address which it chooses when you first enter it. Is there any way in which I can edit the stored titles because I am finding I just cannot remember them all. If I could call one Durham Services and another Ted’s House that would be great.

At the moment I cannot tell and obscure address I visited some time back from others which I will need to identify quickly.

    Can anyone help?

  2. Hi Oliwer

Posted this last week in the form of a ‘reply’ to the feedback provided by you to Chris Kelly but didn’t get a reply so posted separately here.

Felt the need to comment on your reply to Chris Kelly.

Within about 6 months of buying our Yaris with Touch & Go there was a map update made available at a cost of around £110! Clearly, although it was only a few months old, the T&G was already out of date. Whilst appreciating that the mapping can only be current at the time of manufacture/installation, I think the first update should at least have been provided free of charge, especially as it was within only 6 months of purchase. However, when I enquired, I was told that this was not to be and I would have to pay, we elected not to. To now find that in order to get the latest software update which provides operability and functionality of the satnav itself, we have to purchase the map update is a little rich.

It really is disappointing and not the Toyota mark and quality that I’ve recognised over the years; from being a Toyota enthusiast for many years (last 7/8 cars have been Toyota variations – Yaris, Rav4, IQ, Prius x 2…) it has soured our relationship somewhat. Would appreciate comment please on why we need to purchase a map update in order to get a software update.

    Many thanks

    Gordon

    1. Hi Gordon,
      Thank you for your questions.
Software updates are supplied with the map updates, as and when they become available. Software updates primarily update functionality with new mobile phones and are part of a map update. What you would be paying for is the map update and should a software update be available at that time, you would get that too.
We hope this helps to explain the update process. If you’d like to follow this up, you are welcome to speak with the Customer Relations team. Here are their contact details: http://ow.ly/lvmPC.
      Many thanks.

  3. Hi,

I have posted several times regarding my T&GO + and the toolbox and have received no realistic constructive comment.

For several weeks I have been unable to start the toolbox on my W7 pc after, succesfully installing an update and purchased apps to the system in the car. – It shows ‘not responding’

Yesterday I fired the program up and it asked for the usb, amazing it seems to work!! so today I start the program again, it asks for the USB and we are back in business, after plugging in the USB with the fingerprint on, it allows me to make some profile changes, download a free app and an update and then it tells me that the ‘install’ can’t be completed (this is on the pc)

I take the USB to the car it says it recognises the update but then says update failed and to take a new fingerprint.

I do this return to the PC, where now the toolbox program in not responding!

However I receive an email saying my changes have been verified.

What the hell is going on, do Toyota shutdown the server at end of play??

    1. Hi Mark,
It sounds like you’re having some trouble with your T&G system.
We appreciate this can be frustrating. May we recommend you visit your nearest Dealer who’ll be able to help you verify the details of your updates, check that your T&G system is up to scratch and help with any other queries you may have, being able to show you first hand.
Here’s the link to find yours: http://ow.ly/lvss0> We hope this helps and sorry we’re unable to help much further online.

      1. Hi Oliwer,

Thanks for the reply. The unit is fine and needs no dealer intervention. The Toolbox software (on the PC) seems to be the issue, yesterday it stopped working at or around 1600 BST, and has done likewise today. However today at 14:00 BST, it worked 100% fine, downloaded and installed apps to the USB and also a large map update. Taken to vehicle and all fine with no problems whatsoever with the installation.

I’m guessing that the software (toolbox) server is switched off during certain times of the day, is the sever based outside the UK? Are other users having a similar problem? does the software (toolbox) only allow a once only use in a 24 hr period, these are the questions that no one seems to answer and adds to the frustration Oliwer.

  4. I got my Yaris just over 2 months ago with the Toyota Touch system. At the weekend I noticed two extra buttons ‘Browse’ and Tracks’ and they disappeared since and they appeared again last night and now give again. I connect using Bluetooth and iPhone 4S. The buttons appears intermittently.

  5. I have just bought a new Yaris TR with touch only no navigation. Half of the phone calls i receive just drop out and the unit freezes, the only way i can clear it is to switch the phones bluetooth off.
I am using a Galaxy ACE and have tried it on two different phones with the same result. There is no problem with pairing. Please can you help.

    1. Hi Mike,
Thank you for your post and sorry you’re having issues with connectivity on phone calls.
We recommend visiting your nearest Toyota dealer when you can. We think it may be due to your phones reception as sometimes phones will lose connection depending on where you are in relation to a telephone mast. They’ll be able to see, first hand. the problem you’re having and will also be able to show you a fix. We hope you can understand this is difficult to diagnose online. Find your nearest Dealer here: http://ow.ly/lzMNJ.
      Many thanks and kind regards.

  6. Touch and Go +, with Blackberry – email problems.

I have a Blackberry connected to the T and G, it works fine, but the email function isn’t great, a message will show saying ‘new email’ sometimes ‘new email from’ I can then see the email header but the contents do not display – is this correct?

Also, whilst receiving emails on the phone whilst it is connected to the T and G system, occasionally one or more emails will corrupt, in that on the blackberry it shows as a red cross which means corrupted data received. The email is still fully readable on the phone, but will not delete off the phone and requires the phone to be re-booted. This is NOT a phone fault as the phone works fine when sat in the office all day.

    ANy ideas?

    1. Hello Mark,
In order to help, would you be able to tell us which model of Blackberry you have, and also the details of the vehicle (model, grade and version of Touch & Go system)?
      Many thanks.

      1. Hi Oliwer,

Thanks for your reply the details are as follows:-

        Phone- Blackberry Bold 9900

        Vehicle – Prius T-Spirit (2013 April)

System – Touch and Go Plus – All up to date via Toolbox. (problem has persisted since vehicle delivery)

  7. Hi. I’ve had my new Auris for one week now and I’m loving it. However, when I connect my iphone 5 to the standard Touch system (no sat nav) I can only see artists named a-c. How can I view everyone else? Also, once I’ve selected an album to play or a playlist, there doesn’t seem to be a way to change to another artist, album or playlist? How do I do this? The browse button does not seem to be there. Many thanks in advance 🙂

    1. Hi Nick,
Many thanks for taking the time to post on the blog and we’re sorry that you’re having trouble with your system.
We wonder whether you’re connecting via Bluetooth or USB? Connection by Bluetooth can have reduced functionality, however, in order to help diagnose the potential issue here we recommend popping in to your nearest Toyota Dealer. They’ll be able to see the issue you’re outlining first hand and help with a tutoral and advice.
Great to hear that you’re loving your Auris, it’s a fantastic car!
We hope this helps, many thanks.

  8. I have a 2012 Avensis TR Tourer with Touch&Go. When I bought it the map was already outofdate as was the version of T&G. So I went to the Toolbox to look for updates.
Like others posting here I’ve found the Toolbox software to be less than satisfactory:-
    1) The Toolbox needs uninstalling/re-installing every time I use it. If I don’t then – like Mark, May 14 2013 18:25 – it can’t find the USB and the entire program just hangs. No option but to close Toolbox. I then get the message ‘Navigation Content Manager not responding’. When I reinstall the Toolbox, it then manages to see the USB, but only the once. After that I have to reinstall.
    2) Yesterday I took a fingerprint and, having re-re-installed the Toolbox, inserted the USB into the pc. Toolbox told me an important system update was available. Great. But quite what it was (a version update??), what to do next, was left to my imagination. Should I remove the USB and update the T&G device at this point? No help from Toolbox whatsoever. Fortunately I left the USB plugged in as I wanted to buy updated maps. I now gather, from reading other posts here (also, between the lines, Oliwer July 4 2012 16:08), that buying the maps is in fact the only way to significantly update the version…
    3) Updating T&G in the car seemed to work fine. The version now seems to be 2.7.4L. BUT at the end of the update when I took a new fingerprint to feed back into the (again re-installed) Toolbox, I was informed that an important system update was available, which I duly downloaded onto USB. Went to device: ‘Update detected, please wait… No content found. Please take fingerprint to computer’. If that’s not going round in circles…
When is Toyota going to sort out these issues?

    1. Hi Steve,
      In answer to your questions:
      1. This is something Toyota Europe are aware of and are in the process of rectifying. In the meantime you can close the programme using the task manager and try to reopen it (rather than deleting and reinstalling) as the operation is intermittent. We apologise that this is curently the case however the team responsible for this are working on a fix.
      2. This update is an update for the USB stick that allows any other downloads from the toolbox (applications or maps) to be transferred to the car via the USB stick. Software updates for T&G are included as part of the map updates and are not generally available separately via the customer portal.
      3. This is an update for the USB stick that allows any other downloads from the toolbox to be transferred to the car via the USB stick, so needs to be downloaded to the USB stick each time.
We hope this helps to explain a few of the problems you’ve been experiencing. If you’d like to be shown anything with regards to the T&G system first hand, may we recommend you visit your nearest Toyota Dealer who’ll be able to help.
      Kind regards.

  9. I am finding the new portal system so complex and frustrating. i have spent so much time trying to see if im updated and have the correct software. I cannot download the “toolbox”. I registerd my last Yaris on the touch n go page which was easier than the new look portal page. Its is a very long winded process. It would be good if Toyota could look into the accesability. The consideration of an APP for iphone/android would be good as its appears not supported when using the site from a mobile phone.

I have just purchased annew Yaris, 2013 old model was 2011. The Sat NAV chip from my last car was taken out and placed into the new car. My old data is present and not registering new system information asit is the same product key. Therefore i dont feel I have the new current software. Software version is: 2.7.4L Map ID EUL20121019.

I asked the dealership to update this and apparently they have and no appears no change in software and the maps is still 2012, I understand there was an update for maps in spring 2013? Is this correct.

My experiences with Toyota throughout the last 2 years, have been very eye opening as they appear to complicate customer service issues, looking deeply rather than simplyfying and a i feel a lack of dealing anything quickly. (very sad to say).

I have tried to log into the portal and download the toolbox which the link is not active.

Please can this process be looked into, and make it simpler for customers to use from the UK webpage rather than going round and round in circles. I still can’t see what the latest software version is for touch n go and everytime I try to potentially look into updating, its doesn’t work!

Im sure im not the only one to find this so complicated procedure which I feel could be made simple.

I would ,also like to see Toyota offer free software updates, as many portable sat navs would do so, and slight cost to update maps (thats acceptable).

    1. Hi Wayne,
We believe you may have registered for the TGB My Toyota page. Your log in details from the original T&G customer portal have been transferred to the new look portal so you shouldn’t have to re-register. If you are already registered for the T&G portal you can cancel past the Account Activation screen that now appears, and then sign in with your registered user name and password.
At the time of writing, the most up to date software version is: 2.7.4L Map ID EUL20121019.
The map that you’ve got was made available in spring 2013, the date on the map ID is taken from the development process and isn’t a release date. As such, it appears that you’ve currently got the most up to date software. Software updates are only available with map updates, so if you have the latest map you’ll also have the latest available software version.
If a software update is made available to address an issue with the system operation, it would be available as a warranty repair at your Toyota Dealer.
If you’d like further advice about the functionality and usability of the T&G system, we recommend popping in to your Dealer as they’ll be able to give you a first hand walk through of the system and go through any issues you may be able to show them.
We do hope this helps and many thanks once again for taking the time to write to us.
      Kind regards.

  10. Just bought a Yaris Trend with ‘Touch and Go’. Paired OK with my Galaxy Ace but cannot see how to transfer the phone directory other than by laborious keying individual numbers.Read the book but it hasn’t helped.
    Any advice?

    1. Hi George,
      Thanks for your question.
The Galaxy Ace should offer a bulk transfer of the phone book. It may be worth checking that the contacts are saved to the phone (not just the sim card). You could also try deleting the pairing from the phone and the Touch & Go and then repairing using the ‘make this system discoverable’ option.
We hope this helps, many thanks.
