  1. I have just bought a 2011 Auris TSpirit Hybrid. It has the sat nav unit with a reveisng camera on the display. The trouble is there are no guidance lines to warn you when you get too close to a car behind you. Is there a way to ‘turn on’ the lines? ThanksEd

    1. Hi Ed,
We’re pleased to hear of your new Auris.
Unfortunately, the reversing camera on this model does not have these guidance lines.
We’re sorry this is not the information you were looking for and hope you are otherwise enjoying your new Auris.
      Kind regards.

  2. Thank you Oliwer and Amy for previous responses, but I find it so difficult to believe that such a basic feature as reversing guidelines are missing on such an expensive model as my Plug In Prius, having used such a useful feature on my previous T-Spirit. The camera is of very limited use without them.
Surely these guidelines could be implemented with a software modification, also satisfying the many disappointed customers with other models of Toyota.
I thought I was upgrading my car and experience, not the reverse (no pun meant), so I am bitterly disappointed I have ended up with less features than previously enjoyed.

    1. Hi Richard,
We appreciate your comments and will ensure that your feedback is heard with the teams here.
As you know, the Prius Plug-in is a different car to the Prius, therefore there may be certain features that differ from your previous model. The Prius Plug-in has a focus on efficiency. As such, the technology in your car is groundbreaking, both in offering electric vehicle driving and the Toyota hybrid CVT drivetrain. There are few cars on the road which offer this and we think this is the future of driving in the UK, of which you’re leading the way.
Once again, we do value your feedback. Please do let us know if you’ve any further questions.
      Kind regards.

  3. I agree 100% with the comments of Richard, My Wife’s Nissan juke has the option to turn on and off the reversing guidelines, my outgoing T Spirit Prius had the guidelines so now I invest in a new TSpririt (which was £3k more expensive than the old one – 3 years ago) and have a basic safety aid removed. These must be available via a software update, come on Toyota help us out here!

  4. Hi

Not impressed with the Toyota Touch & Go installed on my wife’s 2012 Toyota Yaris Multi-Drive (bought new last year). Have had numerous problems with its functionality. Latest issue is that the screen intermittently freezes when in navigation mode (i.e. route selected). Local dealer says this is a recognised problem and the software needs to be updated. I managed the convoluted process last year when I updated it to its current version 1.7.4L but can’t see where the latest updates are or indeed how to install them. Have toolbox installed and have a fingerprint of the current satnav and also the SWDL.iso file but then I’m stumped in the process. Dealer having a problem getting the go ahead to sort the problem – although this to me is clearly a warranty issue – i.e. the satnav fails!

Any suggestions please, clearly we’re not happy with the Touch & Go

    Thank you

    1. Hi Gordon,
Thank you for your post and raising this with us.
We are sorry to hear of your problems with the Touch & Go system here. We are currently looking into this for you and will get back to you shortly.
In the meantime, have a lovely weekend.
      Kind regards.

      1. Hi Amy

Many thanks for your reply. Have managed to get the latest software update 1.4.8L installed which I’m told will resolve the issue of the screen intermittently freezing. A member of the Toyota service department downloaded the software at his home onto a USB (system in the dealership was too slow) and we installed it this morning (Saturday). Excellent service as usual from the dealership; service provided was above and beyond. I’ve contacted the management team at the dealership separately to express our thanks, particularly for the individual concerned.

Still think the process is too convoluted and would be keen to know where to find (and download) the software updates for the future and if the toolbox is required for this particular purpose

        Thanks again

      2. Hi Gordon,
Thank you for providing us with an update and sharing your dealership experience.
We’re pleased this has been resolved for you.
To carry out map updates, you will need to download the customer toolbox to your computer, these updates will also come with the latest software version available. Instructions to download the map updates are available in the Help section of the tool box. You can download the customer toolbox through the Touch and Go portal, which you can find here: http://ow.ly/kNbNx.
Thank you for taking the time to provide this feedback, we have passed this onto the relevant department for consideration in future developments.
        Kind regards.

  5. I am awaiting delivery of my new Yaris TR with Touch and Go. I have searched high and low but cannot find out which maps are contained in the system. Does it cover UK only, the whole of Europe, or what? I am driving down through France in June and I am hoping I will not have to download a load of extra maps.

As far as I am aware the TR has the basic Touch and Go with mapping and not the advanced Touch and Go that comes with higher specs.

    Thanks

    1. Hi Rodney,
      Thanks for your question.
The new Yaris TR with Touch and Go features maps as follows:
Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Gibraltar, Ireland, Italy, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, San Marino, Spain, Switzerland, Sweden, United Kingdom, Vatican City, Albania, Belarus, Bosnia Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Greece, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Former Yugoslav Republic Of Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia,Turkey, Ukraine, Russia and Iceland
This will be detailed in your navigation manual which will come in the glovebox of your vehicle.
We hope you have a nice trip to France, you may find this blog post useful too: http://ow.ly/kN7p0. If you need anything further please let us know.
      Kind regards.

  6. Hi
I have Toyota Prius touch and go and every time I connect my Samsung Galaxy s3 to the Bluetooth and make or receive a call it goes into echo mode.
Also I am unable to accept the call when using the touch screen mode. It has to be answered or rejected only from steering wheel buttons

    1. Hi Pavan,
      Thank you for your question.
We suggest deleting the pairing from the T&G and your phone and then repairing. You could also try pairing another phone to see if this works OK. If this doesn’t work, we suggest you demonstrate this issue to your Toyota Dealer, who’ll be in a position to assist you further.
      Many thanks.

  7. Can you switch off the speed camera waning on the new touch and go system in the new Auris
we are collecting next week and going to France and Spain at the end of the month and my understanding is that it must be switch off
    Thanks

    1. Hi Tony,
Any T&G with a software version later than 1.7.5 has the speed cameras removed from the French mapping. We understand this won’t be an issue in Spain. If this vehicle is a New Generation Auris, then there shouldn’t be a problem. If you have any concerns then we recommend speaking with your nearest Toyota Dealer who’ll be able to look into this further for you.
      Do hope this helps.

  8. I have a follow up query to the point Gordon Lynch raised below and Amy’s replies.

I have an Avensis with Touch & Go software version 1.7.1L and would like to upgrade to whatever the latest version is without buying new map software.Toolbox doesn’t do this. I bought some navigational extras yet the software version was unchanged.

What is the latest version please and how do I upgrade if Toolbox won’t do it? I read a post on another forum with a link to naviextras.com to download the swdl.iso file for version 1.7.4 but am reluctant to put it on a stick and try it as it wasn’t through Toolbox.

Any help would be much appreciated.

    1. Hi Chris,
The latest software version is 2.7.4L but this is only available with a map update which is a payable update.
If you’re experiencing issues with the operation of your T&G we recommend visiting your local Toyota centre. This will be beneficial as they’ll be able to advise, first hand, with any queries. Centres can also update to 1.7.8L via a Technical Service Bulletin.
We do hope this helps, many thanks.

      1. Hi Oliwer

Felt the need to comment on your reply to Chris Kelly.

Within about 6 months of buying our Yaris with Touch & Go there was a map update made available at a cost of around £110! Clearly, although it was only a few months old, the T&G was already out of date. Whilst appreciating that the mapping can only be current at the time of manufacture/installation, I think the first update should at least have been provided free of charge, especially as it was within only 6 months of purchase. However, when I enquired, I was told that this was not to be and I would have to pay, we elected not to. To now find that in order to get the latest software update which provides operability and functionality of the satnav itself, we have to purchase the map update is a little rich.

It really is disappointing and not the Toyota mark and quality that I’ve recognised over the years; from being a Toyota enthusiast for many years (last 7/8 cars have been Toyota variations – Yaris, Rav4, IQ, Prius x 2…) it has soured our relationship somewhat. Would appreciate comment please on why we need to purchase a map update in order to get a software update.

        Many thanks

        Gordon

  9. Toolbox Not Responding. Hi, I have used the toolbox a couple of weeks back and carried out some updates, so all good. However I’m finding that no, when I open the program it won’t let me do anything, says, connection made, waiting for device (all options are locked out) When I insert the USE nothing happens whatsoever and then the ‘not responding’ dialogue appears. I have wiped the USB and started afresh, is this a fault at Toyota end or is the program corrupted?

  10. I reported similar Toolbox problems as experienced by Mark below, the application only functions after first installation but when trying to run it another time it does not respond. Uninstalling and reinstalling again gives another “one of” use again, but not when attempting to log in again as the above repeats.

Reply from Customer Relations Executive, Sophie Maynard :

“Thank you for your email dated 1 May 2013.

I am sorry to learn that you are still experiencing problems when trying to download the Touch & Go Toolbox. I would like to apologise as we have been experiencing some issues with this facility and understand from our Head offices in Europe that this is an intermittent problem that is currently under investigation.

I would like to assure you that this matter is of priority for our Technical Department and we can only apologise for any frustration or inconvenience this matter has caused you.

We will continue to follow this matter up for you and would like to thank you for your continued patience.”

I hope this helps but am somewhat disappointed it is taking so long to resolve.
