  1. Hi Raymond,
    Thanks for your understanding.
I’ve already send your comments on to the relevant department for them to address.
Many thanks once again, we value your input.
    Best, Oliwer.

  2. Hi Mike,
Since no one else has replied to this then I will. My understanding is that there are basically 2 versions of Touch & Go. These are High and Low. High is normally on T-Spirit models and has the ability to handle SMS (text) messages. You can tell from the serial number which you have (serial ends in H or L). The High version comes with 3 years worth of map upgrades for free (not sure when that starts from). For the Low each map upgrade currently costs 109 GBP or 119 Euros. Updates seem to be released about every 6-10 months. If you buy a new car check it has the latest upgrades as they should upgrade to the latest for free providing you have not covered more than 250 miles (I think). Normal software updates (i.e. not maps) are free using the PC based software.
As for search providers I am sure Google is your only option. The system is good in that you can find your destination in Google Maps then email it to your Touch and Go account. The Touch & Go unit then retrieves it from there via your phone. If DuckDuckGo can send to Toyota then it will work otherwise I suspect Google Maps is your only option. I see they have a plug into Chrome – does that not defeat the object?
The maps are based on Navigon and the updates are handled by a third party. This is standard for car manufacturers. I do wish they would price them more realistically though. I love the unit for its iPod integration and user interface but the cost of map upgrades (and the fact they are already old when updated) is a big turn off for me.

  3. Hi Raymond,
It looks to us like you may need to update the software on your T&G Go system. Here are a few pointers how you can check which version you have (you’ll need version 2.1L – 2.4L).
1, Press the SET UP hard button.
2, Touch GENERAL on the screen.
3, Scroll down to the bottom screen.
4, Touch SYSTEM INFORMATION, you will then be able to see the map and software version.
To update the software to the latest version you will need to purchase a map update which is available via the customer portal (http://ow.ly/jJTbJ) or can be carried out at your local Toyota centre.
    Many thanks.

  4. Hi Mike,
The two search providers listed on the portal are Google local search and Yandex. Map updates are currently £109 inc VAT from the customer portal or £128.46 + VAT as a centre update.
We do hope this helps, many thanks.

  5. sorted now..
In the Xperia T go to Settings – Data Usage –> More….
    – Tethering & Portable Hotspots and make sure that Bluetooth tethering is checked…

I could connect to the internet and added the O2 apn, username and password..

then I launched the weather app, and added my Toyota Account username and password..

    So all is fine now!!

    1. I purchased a six months old Auris Hybrid just after Christmas from the local Toyota dealer, the car in general is excellent and I am very happy with it.
The only thing that lets it down is the touch and go sat-nav, its behavior is bizarre.
It has started losing its position, driving home from work it placed me some 50 miles to the south and heading in the wrong direction.
When I checked the Satellite coverage on the touch and go – there was none apparently (no co-ordinates or details shown) .
Then about two miles up the road 4/11 satellites appeared, I flicked back to the map view and the positioning had corrected itself.
I continued for a further four miles and it started going wrong again… I checked the satellite coverage and it was blank again, and remained so until I reached home.

Is there a reason why it can’t pick up the satellites, I’m driving through open country side for the most part of the journey?

      Are there any fix/software patches?
Or is this a hardware issue?

At the moment it is not fit for purpose, and the phrase as much use chocolate teapot springs to mind.

      1. Hi Paul
        Thanks for your post.
Sorry to read your comments regarding the satnav and from what you have described, we would recommend contacting your local dealer for them to check the system for you.

  6. I have a 2013 Auris Icon with the Touch audio system…
    1. Is there a simple way to cancel Traffic Announcements? I don’t want to turn off TA completely, I just want to be able to cancel a traffic announcement I’m not interested in, and go back to what I was listening to before, instead of waiting until the announcement finishes.
    2. Streaming audio via Bluetooth. I’ve paired my phone successfully, but when I choose Bluetooth as the audio source, I only the songs in the folder currently selected on the phone. How do I get all the others? The phone is a Sony Ericsson Xperia Pro Mini.

    1. Hi Mark,
Thank you for your questions, we hope you’re enjoying your new Auris!
      1. Unfortunately, it is not possible to turn off a single announcement, as you suggest these can be stopped by turning off the Traffic Announcement feature altogether.
      2. The Bluetooth will be reading the music from the folder you have selected on your phone, this is why it will not play your full range of music. You can find out more about playing music through Bluetooth on page 121 of the ‘Touch Screen Owner’s Manual’.
You can also play music from your mobile through the AUX port; this should give you access to the wider music selection.
If you need anything further please let us know.
      We hope this helps.

  7. Hi!
Dealership said ‘Free Map updates’ for 2 years..
Please can you tell me how to get these? I am registered with Toyota, have downloaded Twitter and Glass of Water, but the Map Updates using Toolbox are not free.
I will also ask when I call at the dealership on Wednesday.
    Thanks! Raymond

    1. Hi Raymond,
Map updates depend on which system you have in your car. At this stage, we recommend speaking with your Dealer on your visit as they’ll be able to discuss the process and show you first hand how to update the system.
      Many thanks.

  8. I have a Toyota Yaris (13 plate) with the Touch & Go system.
    The softeware version is 2.7.4L
I have registed on the customer portal etc.
When I try to carry out a search via google on the touch & Go system it says that I am not registered. I have an iPhone 5 (even tried iPhone 4S). My password is correctly typed and my personal hotspot is turned ON.
    Please help!

    1. Good morning,
Thank you for raising this with us and we hope you’re enjoying your new Yaris.
To be able to use the connected services with Touch & Go, tethering needs to be enabled in your phone contract. We suggest speaking with your phone provider to ensure tethering is included.
If you’re still experiencing this, your local Dealer will be able to help you. They will be able to see the problem you are having first hand and so be able to offer a solution. Their details can be found here: http://ow.ly/jXmuh.
      We hope this helps.

      1. Thanks Amy.
I know thethering is enabled on my iphone/contract as I can surf via a laptop tethered to the iphone

      2. Thank you for your response.
Unfortunately, without being able to see the issue, it is hard for us to advise.
As discussed, your dealer will be happy to look at this for you. They will also be able to investigate this with our Technical team, if necessary.
If we can help with anything further, please let us know.
        Kind regards.

      3. Solved: Deleted the original registration and started all over again. Seems to have worked.
I may have forgotten to confirm my e-mail during my first registeration (i think).

  9. We recently purchased a 9 month old ex-Toyota group Yaris Hybrid T-Spirit, and I have an issue with the Touch and Go system.

I have the day/night mode set to Automatic, but I cannot get the screen to switch into Night mode – either with the lights on Auto and on, or with the lights switched manually on via the stalk. Screen always stays in DAY mode and is much too bright at night. I can use the DAY or NIGHT setting in the system, but Auto doesn’t work.

AM I missing something here or is there a fault?

Secondly, my dealer said that map updates were free – explicitly to the question about whether they had updated the map and firmware to the latest version before delivery. When I registered my system on the Portal there was no option to get free mapping updates, with a charge being shown (£199 if I recall correctly). Is this correct? If so, shouldn’t my dealer have supplied the car to me with the latest map installed?
