Aygo: Black is back

It’s no surprise that we’re big fans of small cars here on the blog – the iQ has long been our favourite. But it’s not the only small Toyota that catches our eye. We love the Aygo too! Choosing between them is like asking a parent to choose between their children… And now, the choice just got even harder.

The new Aygo Black has just been announced, complete with Alcantara and leather interior trim, 14-inch alloy wheels and, of course, Tempest Black metallic paint as standard. Powered by the award-winning Toyota Optimal Drive 1.0-litre engine, the Aygo Black is easy on fuel (62.8mpg combined cycle) and has low road tax thanks to CO2 emissions of just 106g/km.

With an on-the-road price starting at £9,460 (from April 1), and a year’s free Toyota Motor Insurance cover available (provided you meet the terms and conditions), this top-of-the-range Aygo is definitely a contender for our number one city car at the moment… But we still love the iQ too. We can’t decide, can you?

  1. Love our Aygo Blue. Only disappointment is that apparently Toyota says that the dealer (Steven Eagell) is not allowed to fit door and boot switches so that the interior light can work properly from all doors. I gather this would invalidate the body rust warranty. However looking at the car there are blanked off spaces for the switches. When its dark it would be great to have the lights work off the front and rear passenger door and to be able to have a boot light, especially for an emergency. It also prevents the nearly £400 Toyota Dealer fit alarm system working to its full capability.

Mellissa can you look into this and let Steven Eagell at Milton Keynes know please if the switches can be fitted without invalidating the warranty.

This is a small item but it will make this terrific little car much more useable for us, especially in the winter.

    Many thanks
