The all-new Yaris Cross made its world premiere last year in top-spec Excel grade. Now the distinctly different character of the Dynamic grade model is revealed for the first time.
The Yaris Cross Dynamic displays an authentic SUV character that emphasises its suitability for life beyond the urban sprawl, for time spent exploring and enjoying the great outdoors and open roads. Its go-getting spirit is suggested by the front under-run and lower bumper protection plate at the rear, while the specification also includes silver roof rails and 18-inch alloy wheels with a dark grey finish.
The sense of purpose continues in the cabin, with piano black trim details and black headlining. The supportive seats are upholstered in a supple, leather-like material with a specific Dynamic pattern and there is a signature Warm Gold deco line running across the soft-touch instrument panel and inner door mouldings. Leather is used for the steering wheel and shift lever gaiter.
Yaris Cross Dynamic: Premiere Edition
The Premiere Edition is the ultimate version of the Yaris Cross Dynamic. Exclusive features include leather seat upholstery, unique 18-inch machined alloy wheels and a power tailgate with kick-sensor for hands-free operation. The specification also provides a head-up display and a bi-tone paint finish with range of colour options. It will only be available during the first 12 months of Yaris Cross sales but will be included in the pre-sales reservation programme.
Yaris Cross – all urban, all SUV
Although built on the same modular GA-B platform as the new Yaris hatchback, Yaris Cross has a higher driving position and increased ground clearance. It joins Toyota’s growing hybrid SUV range alongside RAV4 – the world’s original and best-selling recreational SUV – the new seven-seat Highlander and the Toyota C-HR compact crossover. The platform gives the car high body rigidity, a low centre of gravity and a well-balanced chassis, ensuring agile and sure-footed handling and excellent ride comfort.
Its fourth-generation hybrid system is shared with the new Yaris hatchback, where the 114bhp petrol-electric powertrain is expected to deliver low CO2 emissions and a generous level of all-electric EV driving capability.
Yaris Cross customers will be able to specify a number of sophisticated and advanced equipment features. Dependent on grade, these will include intelligent all-wheel drive, wireless mobile connectivity with Toyota Smart Connect and a Toyota Teammate Advanced Park automated parking system.
Full details of the UK model line-up and specifications will be announced soon. A pre-sales period for UK customers will open in May, ahead of the model’s official launch in September. During this time customers will be able to request regular updates and make online reservations or in-person reservations at their local Toyota centre.

I like the idea of a small SUV for urban driving. I am a fan of Toyota and have been for many years, but I don’t like piano black and dark roof linings. I’m hoping the Excel will have a brighter interior with some different colours. Also I’m looking forward to seeing it later this year.
Hi Stephen,
Thanks for your comment. We’re glad to hear that you’re a fan of the Yaris Cross!
Full details of the UK model line-up, specifications, pricing and pre-sales reservations will be announced in due course.
Thanks.
Hi Toyota,
You’ve not really answered the question on dark roof lining. Why not make it optional. Not a great fan either, gave up my CHR because the dark lining combination with small side and back windows made it too dark inside.
Hi Mike,
Thanks for getting in touch with us.
We don’t have any further specification information to share regarding Yaris Cross at the moment, but full details of the UK model line-up should be available soon.
Thanks.
Where does this sit in relation to size in the current Toyota SUV range.
Is it one down from RAV4 or lowest size ?
Hi Craig,
Yaris Cross is based on the Yaris, so it will be the smallest SUV we have in our range. Exact size comparisons can be found here: https://mag.toyota.co.uk/toyota-hybrid-suv-size-guide/
Thanks
I have been waiting for Toyota to release a small SUV to replace my 22 year old Toyota Corolla. I hope it will be as affordable as the Nissan Juke and not a silly price like the Yaris Sport that was released! Hopefully it will be more competitively priced than the CHR. It would be great to see 1.3 and 1.6 Engine sizes too (as well as Hybrid) model. Can’t wait for the final reveal!
Hi Caroline,
Thanks for your interest in the Yaris Cross. Pricing will be confirmed soon!
Thanks
Will there be any actual yaris cross vehicles to look at in may, or is it pre order on photos and specs only, for a september delivery. I hope we get the glass roof, full black headlining across the range would be a bit of a mistake, having a glass roof would make it lighter.
Hi Tony,
Thanks for getting in touch with us.
Full details of the UK model line-up, specifications, pricing and pre-sales reservations will be announced in the coming weeks.
We don’t have any information regarding demonstrators to share, but you can sign up for the latest updates here: https://www.toyota.co.uk/world-of-toyota/stories-news-events/2020/all-new-yaris-cross-hybrid.

Hi Toyota,
I ordered a Yaris Cross Dynamic early February but it will not be ready until September. Is there a backlog on this model due to high demand?
I’m patient and can wait but just wondering.
Hi Ray,
Like many other businesses, Toyota is currently experiencing delays in the global supply chain for some of our components.
In addition to this, we are seeing unprecedented demand for our Hybrid Electric products.
This has unfortunately led to longer delivery times on some of our more popular new vehicles.
We are sure that your Yaris Cross will be worth the wait.
Thanks.
when will we be able to build a yaris cross online ?.
I like the glossy black front and rear.
Would prefer smallest wheels for better economy.
I have a Yaris Hybrid icon + and would like to know the difference in size.
Hi Johnny,
Thanks for your comment.
Yaris Cross has a length of 4180mm, making it 240mm longer than new generation Yaris.
It has a width of 1765mm, which is 20mm wider than new generation Yaris.
In terms of height, Yaris Cross is 1595mm tall, which is 95mm taller than new generation Yaris.
There’s a helpful infographic that illustrates these differences on our Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/toyotauk/photos/a.10150110946357633/10157827372127633/
We don’t have any news to share on when the car configurator will be available, but we’d recommend keeping an eye on our blog and social channels for the latest. You can also sign up for updates here: https://fal.cn/3g1dl.
Thanks.
I have ordered a new Toyota Yaris Cross Dynamic from Toyota Salisbury.
Can you please let me know if we will be having the Premiere editition, as I understand from the internet, that for the first 12 months after launch, the Dynamic will come out as the Premiere?
I look forward to hearing from you.
Regards
David
Hi David,
Thanks for your comment and congratulations on your new Toyota purchase!
The Dynamic and the Premiere Edition are two different grades of the Yaris Cross.
Please contact Toyota Salisbury to confirm which grade you have ordered.
Thanks.
I am ordering a new Yaris cross dynamic on Monday of next week in blue. I would love it to be in the dark grey, but am told this is not possible. Is there no way Toyota could bend the rules a little?
Hi Richard,
Unfortunately this is not possible. We apologise we cannot help you further.
Thanks.
Hi, I have just taken delivery of a new yaris cross dynamic I thought this would have a powered tailgate (not the kick version) operated from the key fob or is the info I have received wrong. I am disappointed as this was a feature my wife was looking forward to.
Alex.
Hi Alex,
Thanks for your comment.
Our information shows that the kick activated power back door is only available on the Excel Grade.
Thanks.
I have put a deposit on a Premiere edition Yaris Cross which will be available soon as an ex demonstrator. It is a lovely car, but it is quite confusing to try and work out exactly what is included. Does the Premiere Edition include all of the Dynamic features?
Hi Tony,
The Premiere Edition comes with kick activated power back door, a 10″ colour display and JBL sound system with 8 speakers.
These features are not available on the Dynamic Grade.
Thanks.
Thanks for that. I have another question:
What about Connected Services? The car is coming with SmartConnect which, as I understand, uses its own embedded sim card to communicate. Is this free? Or if not what are the costs? There is very little definitive documentation about this online, and most of it contradictory.
I have been told I can definitely use the MyT app to control the car remotely.
Just would like some clarification – thanks
Tony
Hi Tony,
No problem at all.
You are correct, the Yaris Cross comes with Toyota Smart Connect.
More information on this can be found here – https://mag.toyota.co.uk/what-is-toyota-smart-connect/.
As mentioned in this article, by downloading the MyT Connected Services smartphone application, you can remotely control a number of helpful features.
These include remote locking and unlocking, on-board climate controls and activating the hazard lights.
You can also use the MyT app to access information such as driving behaviour data or to set reminders about servicing, road tax and insurance.
New services and features will be automatically added to Smart Connect as the system evolves.
We hope this helps.
Thanks.
