Toyota is pleased to announce that owners of Corolla and RAV4 models produced since *2019 now have the possibility of an upgrade to their Toyota Touch 2 multimedia system to include Apple CarPlay and Android Auto mobile integration.
Compatible vehicles for Apple CarPlay upgrade:
- MY19 Corolla in all body styles and grades
- MY19 and MY20 RAV4 all grades excluding Icon
This multimedia upgrade allows owners to access the services included in their mobile phone on the multimedia display screen and action them through voice activation or by manually prompting through the steering wheel controls or touchscreen itself. In this way they will be able to safely enjoy applications such as Google Maps, Spotify, Amazon Music, WhatsApp and Waze without the need to directly interact with their mobile phone.
The Apple CarPlay and Android Auto upgrade for compatible vehicles will be carried out by appointment at your local Toyota centre. Toyota recommends that owners arrange to have the upgrade installed during a scheduled service.

* Depending on vehicle and specification, Toyota has installed its enhanced multimedia system as standard equipment since the 2020 model year. This means that vehicles with this system always feature Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionality.

I am just wondering, do all 2020 rav4 have android auto or not? I am a bit confused as it says all Toyota multimedia from 2020 have android auto but the upgrade is available for 2020/2019 rav4.

Hello, my Corolla re GV19 KYB is compatible with the Car play update but my dealer has told me I need to update the existing map software ware to carry this out, at a cost of £160 as it still has the factory software and this should have been updated at PDi? Is this correct?

Not quite. The Multimedia System that allows Apple CarPlay / Android Auto is not available as standard, but your vehicle is compatible for the upgrade.
The reason for the cost is because this Multimedia Upgrade takes time to complete.

Not quite, I’ve been told the cars map software is too old to allow apple car play to be installed. And it’s a licence key and map USB that are required to do this software update? Before then installing Apple car play?

Unfortunately, your vehicle is not able to be upgrade to have wireless Apple CarPlay.
You will need to continue to connect your phone via USB connection if you wish to use Apple CarPlay.

I took my newly purchased Toyota Aygo X to a dealership today Macklin Ayr and asked if I could have an upgrade software to enable me to have Android auto.
I was told I would need a whole new face installed at a cost of over £1000.
The VRM is now a private plate AC60MMC.. previously it was Fl72WFM .
Would this be correct I was told by the garage I bought it from that it would just be a software upgrade as the previous owner obviously didn’t take it as an optional extra.
