Toyota is pleased to announce that owners of Corolla and RAV4 models produced since *2019 now have the possibility of an upgrade to their Toyota Touch 2 multimedia system to include Apple CarPlay and Android Auto mobile integration.

Compatible vehicles for Apple CarPlay upgrade:

  • MY19 Corolla in all body styles and grades
  • MY19 and MY20 RAV4 all grades excluding Icon

This multimedia upgrade allows owners to access the services included in their mobile phone on the multimedia display screen and action them through voice activation or by manually prompting through the steering wheel controls or touchscreen itself. In this way they will be able to safely enjoy applications such as Google Maps, Spotify, Amazon Music, WhatsApp and Waze without the need to directly interact with their mobile phone.

The Apple CarPlay and Android Auto upgrade for compatible vehicles will be carried out by appointment at your local Toyota centre. Toyota recommends that owners arrange to have the upgrade installed during a scheduled service.

Please contact your centre for more information and to confirm compatibility.

* Depending on vehicle and specification, Toyota has installed its enhanced multimedia system as standard equipment since the 2020 model year. This means that vehicles with this system always feature Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionality.

        The only compatible vehicles are MY19 Corolla in all body styles and grades and MY19 + MY20 RAV4 all grades excluding Icon.

    I’m looking to purchase FY69MTK (Corolla), I don’t know if it has had the upgrade yet but I assume if not, it will be an eligible vehicle?

  2. I have Hi Lux KM20XKX but it doesn’t appear to have CarPlay?
    Can this be upgraded?
    Or should it, or has it got it already?

  3. I bought a RAV4 in 2019. The only down side to the specification being the poor multimedia system which was behind the USA in implementing Apple car play. Having asked if it could be upgraded in the future I was advised by the sales person that there was every likelihood that this would be possible in the near future. 2 years on and I receive an email advising me my car is compatible for an upgrade with no mention of a fee. Book the car in for the upgrade and get a phone call the night before it’s due in to say there is a fee of £125. I can wait until July 22 for my next service though and get it for £50? Having paid £36k+ for the car, why isn’t this something that is covered. Very poor customer service from Toyota.

      Yes, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay can be retrofitted by your local Toyota Centre.
