Toyota Apple CarPlay and Android Auto upgrade

Toyota is pleased to announce that owners of Corolla and RAV4 models produced since *2019 now have the possibility of an upgrade to their Toyota Touch 2 multimedia system to include Apple CarPlay and Android Auto mobile integration.

Compatible vehicles for Apple CarPlay upgrade:

  • MY19 Corolla in all body styles and grades
  • MY19 and MY20 RAV4 all grades excluding Icon

This multimedia upgrade allows owners to access the services included in their mobile phone on the multimedia display screen and action them through voice activation or by manually prompting through the steering wheel controls or touchscreen itself. In this way they will be able to safely enjoy applications such as Google Maps, Spotify, Amazon Music, WhatsApp and Waze without the need to directly interact with their mobile phone.

The Apple CarPlay and Android Auto upgrade for compatible vehicles will be carried out by appointment at your local Toyota centre. Toyota recommends that owners arrange to have the upgrade installed during a scheduled service.

* Depending on vehicle and specification, Toyota has installed its enhanced multimedia system as standard equipment since the 2020 model year. This means that vehicles with this system always feature Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionality.

  1. Hi there. I’ve got a 2019 Corolla Hybrid Hatchback. I’ve registered it into MyToyota account and it says the device is Touch2 MM17. Can you please answer if it is compatible with the Android Auto retrofit? Thank you.

        The multimedia system in your Auris is not compatible with Apple CarPlay and it cannot be retrofitted.

  4. Hi recently bought a corrolla hybrid & my friend said I can have a free upgrade to a apple car play I don’t know if this is true or not can you let me know & if it is true where can I have It done. Car reg is (HN71MDF) thanks in advance.

      Thanks for your question.
      Our system shows that your vehicle already has Apple CarPlay as standard as it is a 2021 Corolla.
      This upgrade is available exclusively for 2019 Corollas.

  5. Hello, I drive a Toyota Rav 4 with the registration number C K 21G H U and I want to ask if it is possible to update and connect to the android car with bluetooth and not with a cable because at the moment I connect with a cable and I want it to be with bluetooth

      Your RAV4 is not equipped with Apple CarPlay, but it can be retrofitted. Your local Toyota Centre can provide further information on this.

      1. I contacted my local toyota showroom Peterborough they said to me the cost of software updates around 375 pound. They need to update the map as well they can’t do apple car play and android auto without this update so i need to pay like 375. Theyere is any solution for that like why i need to pay this mach amount?

        There is a certain level of navigation software in order for the Apple CarPlay/Android Auto software to be retrofitted. The cost may be able to be lowered slightly if completed during one of your regular serving appointments, to minimise labour costs, but this would be something to discuss with the Toyota Centre.
