RAV4 Adventure adds rugged styling for 2022

Toyota RAV4 Adventure

Toyota is widening the authentic SUV appeal of the RAV4 with the introduction of the new Toyota RAV4 Adventure, an addition to the range that reinforces the model’s “go anywhere” spirit with stand-out rugged styling that’s ready for life in the great outdoors.

This new version will broaden the model’s market reach to people who want a vehicle that matches their love of life off the beaten track while preserving the performance and efficiency benefits of Toyota’s hybrid-electric technology.

Toyota RAV4 Adventure

The RAV4 Adventure makes its intentions clear with its more purposeful front-end design. The new look, all-black grille has greater visual impact, with the Toyota emblem moving down from the leading edge of the bonnet to a central position on double horizontal bars that cross the centre of the unit. The vehicle’s commanding stance and SUV capability is amplified by setting the front fog lights in new black surrounds and fitting a bright silver-finished under-run.

The effect is enhanced by wider wheel arches and new 19-inch alloy wheels with a matt grey finish. At the rear, there’s a matching silver under-run.

In the cabin there’s a dedicated upholstery design for the seats, combining smooth, black synthetic leather with deeply quilted back and cushion sections, with contrasting orange stitching. RAV4 Adventure scuff plates are also fitted.

Toyota RAV4 Adventure

The RAV4 Adventure is powered by Toyota’s fourth-generation hybrid electric technology and is equipped as standard with intelligent all-wheel drive (AWD-i), provided by an additional compact electric motor on the rear axle. The efficient yet powerful hybrid powertrain combines electric motors and a 2.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine – a unit with one of the world’s highest thermal efficiencies for a production engine – delivers 219bhp. AWD-i allows for (braked) loads of up to 1,650 kg to be towed.

The new model also introduces new projector-type LED headlights and LED front fog lights. Elsewhere in the range, a new 10-spoke alloy wheel design will be introduced in bright silver or gloss black according to equipment grade. In the cabin, the focus is on added comfort and convenience with new LED lighting, power adjustment for the front passenger seat, illuminated window control switches and new, USB-C ports suitable for charging phones and devices while on the move.

Toyota RAV4 Adventure

The latest changes maintain the momentum of the world’s best-selling SUV. In 1994, the original RAV4 created a new market for recreational SUVs with car-like agility, a breakthrough that has since earned it more than 10 million global sales. Its spirit of innovation has been maintained as the first model in its segment to offer hybrid-electric power.

UK deliveries for the new Toyota RAV4 Adventure and the refreshed RAV4 model range will begin in the first quarter of 2022. Prices and further details will be announced nearer the on-sale date.

  1. Thanks allot Toyota UK for a listing the adventure model price over £40k. We now have to pay an extra £335 for the next 5 years on top of the £210 tax. I was really looking forward to one of these but you went a little greedy in price compared to the Exel/Dynamic £36-37k price.

    Welcome to rip off Britain…

    1. Hi James, thanks for your comment.

There are plenty of other options for the RAV4 under the £40K mark. In fact, the model itself begins at £31,945 and the Adventure grade is the only variant over this price range…
Higher specification brings with it a higher price tag and this is the standard across the board. If you want to stay under the price cap, we’d recommend opting for one of the other (four) more affordable grades.

      Thanks.

    2. Hi.
I have a Rav4 Plugin on order being built currently. I was updated by the MyT app.today. No idea if its My21 or My22. or what changes that might involve?
Also I am hoping to apply for the grant on the electric vehicle homecharge grant. Is there any update on the Toyota Rav4 application for this grant at all? Thanks Paul

      1. Hi Paul,
        Thanks for your comment.
Firstly, there is currently no information on the Model Year 2022 RAV4 Plug-in just yet, all orders currently should be Model Year 2021.
Secondly, your nearest Toyota Centre will be able to assist you with this.
        Thanks.

      2. Hi
Further to my question regarding the plug-in grant for at home chargers. Rav4 plugin.
I have asked the dealership and they have no knowledge of the application to DVLA for Rav4 to be added to the approved list.
To be honest this is surely a Toyota UK issue not individual dealerships ?
Other manufacturers have had PHEV cars included and the grant ends in March 2022.

      3. Hi Paul,
A new bulletin has been launched for centres to walk customers through the process of ordering a free of charge wall box for the RAV4 Plug-in.
We would recommend contacting your Toyota Centre again for further information on this.
        Thanks.

      4. Thank-you for that update.
I can now see the Rav4 plugin has been added to the DVLA Electric Vehicle Homecharge Scheme.
The dealer has just received this news as well on a bulletin.
Is there a seperate bulletin that details a free of charge scheme, for RAV4 plugin?

      5. Okay. Must have been a typo from you then. See your message above which states free. Thanks.

      6. Hi Paul,
        We apologise for this error.
The RAV4 Plug-in is now on the OZEV website, meaning it is now eligible for the wall box grant.
        Thanks.

      7. Paul was contacted by Toyota Customer service today and charger is free subject to certain conditions. I would query this again.

  2. I totally agree with James B you need to price under £40000 to be viable in uk ,lets be honest you can do it as the rav 4 prime sells for a little over £25000 in America

    1. Thanks Steve, you would have thought the panoramic roof would have been an option. That would have enabled the Adventure grade entry listing price to possibly be just below £40,000 thus skipping the heavy UK tax penalty.

PS. Toyota, the above marketing images are misleading as you can’t specify the white roof on your official site it seems.

  3. Dear sir I placed order for RAV4 in September , and two weeks ago been told it is Unallocated order ,
Will you be kind enough to let me know Whats this means, thanks

  4. Hi
I ordered my Rav 4 on 21st October 2021 with John Roe Scunthorpe. I paid £120 to place the order. They say the “COL 2” system shows an ETA of Feb 2022 and unallocated vehicle.
I have installed MyT. I have registered my email on MyT. There’s no update.
No idea what the hell is going on. I hear Toyota cars are good but customer services is nin existent. No one has any idea what is going on.

    Choven

    1. Hi Choven,
      Thanks for your comment.
Like many other businesses, Toyota is currently experiencing delays in the global supply chain for some of our components.
Unfortunately, this has led to longer delivery times on some of our more popular new vehicles.
Please be assured that our focus remains on doing everything we can to deliver our cars as quickly as possible and making sure that you have the most up to date information.
      Thanks.

      1. thanks for the reply. issue is not having any information. I appreciate that it is going to be delayed, but how do i at least know that my order will be delivered at some point. does anyone is this forum know how long it takes for MyT to get an update for the first time?

      2. Hi Choven,
We can reassure you that your vehicle will be delivered.
Your MyT app will provide you with the latest updates.
        Thanks.

  5. Hi

I am new to this forum and view it with interest. I too have an order placed last year for a new Toyota RAV4 that was due for delivery in April. However, I have now been advised by my dealer that this is now August (worst case scenario)! Apparently this is due to the model build being upgraded from RS7 to RS8. Can someone please explain what this actually means?

    1. Hi Brian,
      Thanks for the comment.
RS7 is the model code for the Model Year 2021 RAV4, RS8 is the model code for the Model Year 2022 RAV4.
Please let us know if you have any further questions.
      Thanks.

  6. Hi guys,

My MY22 RAV4 is on order but has not yet been given a build date (expected sometime in Aug). I have asked my local dealership if I can change the colour from 2QJ to a different one but They have said that if I change the colour I would then lose my slot and go to the back of the queue with a delivery of late OCT/NOV. Is this correct as I haven’t even got a build date yet so why cant the order be changed without losing the slot?

    Rgds
    Paul

    1. Hi Paul, thanks for your comment.

Some derivatives have longer lead times than others. The date provided was based upon your original specification and whilst it is fine to make changes if you wish, this may affect the lead time.

      Thanks.

  7. Hi,
I’ve been informed that the 2 RAV4 Dynamics that I’ve ordered (2022 facelift ) have now been pushed back to august/September from an may/June expected delivery. These were ordered in October last year.
This is not the dealers fault, what is Toyota UK doing to compensate for these delays when I’m spending over 70k with you

    1. Hello Andrew, thank you for your comment.

We’re really sorry to hear that the delivery of your new RAV4 has been pushed back. There are delays within the whole industry and sadly there is nothing we can do to improve these lead times. Your local Toyota Centre is best placed to keep you up to date.

      Thanks.

  8. Hi,

I’m in the process of ordering a new RAV4 Dynamic Premium PHEV – will this be the new MY22 spec? As the brochure would indicate so, as shows the new updated headlights and states it has led fog lights & interior lights however my local dealership don’t know which isn’t very helpful.

    Thanks

    1. Hi Matt,
      Thanks for your comment.
We can see that you are already in contact with us on Facebook.
We will continue to advise you there.
      Thanks.

      1. It would be more helpful to put such advice here, actually, so that those of us not in the Facebook club can read it too! Can you please share all such advice here? Thanks!

      2. Hi David,
        Thanks for your comment.
The RAV4 Plug-in is still being produced for Model Year 2021.
        Thanks.

      3. What about the self-charging hybrid version? Is that still the MY2021 model too, or is it now the MY2022?

      4. Hi Barrie,
The RAV4 Hybrid is now being produced for Model Year 2022.
        We hope this helps.
        Thanks.

  9. Great – thank you. And is there any specific information you’re able to provide on the differences between MY2021 and MY2022. I asked my local dealer but they didn’t have the specific information. Thank you in advance.
