Toyota Apple CarPlay and Android Auto upgrade

Toyota is pleased to announce that owners of Corolla and RAV4 models produced since *2019 now have the possibility of an upgrade to their Toyota Touch 2 multimedia system to include Apple CarPlay and Android Auto mobile integration.

Compatible vehicles for Apple CarPlay upgrade:

  • MY19 Corolla in all body styles and grades
  • MY19 and MY20 RAV4 all grades excluding Icon

This multimedia upgrade allows owners to access the services included in their mobile phone on the multimedia display screen and action them through voice activation or by manually prompting through the steering wheel controls or touchscreen itself. In this way they will be able to safely enjoy applications such as Google Maps, Spotify, Amazon Music, WhatsApp and Waze without the need to directly interact with their mobile phone.

The Apple CarPlay and Android Auto upgrade for compatible vehicles will be carried out by appointment at your local Toyota centre. Toyota recommends that owners arrange to have the upgrade installed during a scheduled service.

* Depending on vehicle and specification, Toyota has installed its enhanced multimedia system as standard equipment since the 2020 model year. This means that vehicles with this system always feature Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionality.

  3. Hi, how about CHR (reg:2019-Sep)? is it available to upgrade to apple car play now? It is impossible to pay 23 k for a car and not have car play, I am very disappointed!

        I have recently purchased RAV4 PHEV GTR sports 74 plate. For some reason my Samsung S23 ultra doesn’t even load android auto. I have checked my phone and it has latest version of Android auto. Phone is connected to multimedia by Bluetooth but android auto doesn’t get setup. Any advise to fix this. Thanks

  4. I purchased a 2019 RAV 4 XLE Premium. JTMA 1 RF VOKJ023946 When I purchased my car, I was able to use my Android phone and now I am unable to use it. I want to know how this can be fixed.

  5. Hi there,

    I’ve got RAV 4 2019 doesn’t have the Apple car play but has built in Sat Nav touch screen as standard. is it possible for me to upgrade to Apple car play?

        Your RAV4 is not equipped with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto as standard, but it can be retrofitted. You will likely need to update the navigation system too, in order for the multimediata software to be compatible.

  10. Hi I got a Toyota Corolla hatchback 1.8 2019 I put the VIN on the Toyota site it says your vehicle is eligible for apple carplay do I have to pay for or that is it for free

      This is a paid for upgrade, you may also be required to upgrade the navigation system in your vehicle in order for it to be compatible.
