Toyota is pleased to announce that owners of Corolla and RAV4 models produced since *2019 now have the possibility of an upgrade to their Toyota Touch 2 multimedia system to include Apple CarPlay and Android Auto mobile integration.

Compatible vehicles for Apple CarPlay upgrade:

  • MY19 Corolla in all body styles and grades
  • MY19 and MY20 RAV4 all grades excluding Icon

This multimedia upgrade allows owners to access the services included in their mobile phone on the multimedia display screen and action them through voice activation or by manually prompting through the steering wheel controls or touchscreen itself. In this way they will be able to safely enjoy applications such as Google Maps, Spotify, Amazon Music, WhatsApp and Waze without the need to directly interact with their mobile phone.

The Apple CarPlay and Android Auto upgrade for compatible vehicles will be carried out by appointment at your local Toyota centre. Toyota recommends that owners arrange to have the upgrade installed during a scheduled service.

Please contact your centre for more information and to confirm compatibility.

* Depending on vehicle and specification, Toyota has installed its enhanced multimedia system as standard equipment since the 2020 model year. This means that vehicles with this system always feature Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionality.

  1. Is this the only way to mirror phones onto the display now that mirrorlink has shut down? We only bought the car a month ago, and it doesn’t need a service until December so feeling hesitant to go for it immediately at I’ve read that’s it’s much more expensive outside of a service. However, after a shambles of a commute, I just don’t trust the sat nav with traffic info anymore!

  3. Hi. Reg for my Toyota Rav4 is YE69LHF. I wanted to get the upgrade to multimedia for android auto but dealership is asking to upgrade the sat nav first for £230 then they could install android auto on my car. To me it’s not making a sense as I’d not be using inbuilt sat nav after the android auto is functional. Is it true or not?

      This upgrade your Centre are referring to is the Multimedia System as a whole, not just the satnav.

  4. I have an Android Auto issue where my new phone doesn’t connect to my Yaris, but it connects fine with newer Toyota’s in the showroom. Is there a firmware upgrade available that would resolve this? I asked my dealership and they said they’ve never seen this issue?

      We’re sorry to hear you are experiencing issues with the Apple CarPlay onvyour Yaris. We can see that you have been in touch with our Multimedia Support Team, who are best placed to advise further. They sent a reply to your email yesterday asking for further information as to how the Toyota Centre investigated the issue. It may be worth getting back in touch with your local dealership as they are much more equipped to investigate with seeing the vehicle in person. Should they need further assistance, they can also request this internally.
