Toyota is pleased to announce that owners of Corolla and RAV4 models produced since *2019 now have the possibility of an upgrade to their Toyota Touch 2 multimedia system to include Apple CarPlay and Android Auto mobile integration.

Compatible vehicles for Apple CarPlay upgrade:

  • MY19 Corolla in all body styles and grades
  • MY19 and MY20 RAV4 all grades excluding Icon

This multimedia upgrade allows owners to access the services included in their mobile phone on the multimedia display screen and action them through voice activation or by manually prompting through the steering wheel controls or touchscreen itself. In this way they will be able to safely enjoy applications such as Google Maps, Spotify, Amazon Music, WhatsApp and Waze without the need to directly interact with their mobile phone.

The Apple CarPlay and Android Auto upgrade for compatible vehicles will be carried out by appointment at your local Toyota centre. Toyota recommends that owners arrange to have the upgrade installed during a scheduled service.

Please contact your centre for more information and to confirm compatibility.

* Depending on vehicle and specification, Toyota has installed its enhanced multimedia system as standard equipment since the 2020 model year. This means that vehicles with this system always feature Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionality.

  3. Dear Sir/Madam,

    I am writing to bring to your attention an issue I have been experiencing with my vehicle’s upgraded car system, specifically the Apple CarPlay functionality. I had previously paid my Toyota dealer to perform the upgrade, and while the system has generally been functioning properly, there is a recurring problem that arises whenever I receive a phone call while utilizing Apple CarPlay for navigation.

    Within two minutes of answering the call, the display becomes increasingly blurry and distorted, exhibiting random colours. Despite changing both my phone and connection cable a few months ago, the problem persists, preventing me from using my phone for calls and navigation simultaneously.

    As my upcoming service appointment approaches, I took the opportunity to report this issue to the Toyota dealer. However, to my surprise, they informed me that a diagnostic fee of £150 would be required to investigate the problem with Apple CarPlay.

    I must admit that I find it slightly disheartening to be charged for diagnosing a problem related to the Apple CarPlay upgrade that I had already paid the dealer to perform last year. Considering that the issue might be attributable to a fault in the display system, I would assume it falls under warranty coverage.

    I kindly request your assistance in resolving this matter, as I struggle to comprehend why I should incur additional charges for rectifying work that the dealer may have executed incorrectly. I appreciate your attention to this issue and look forward to a favourable resolution.

    Android Auto is not connecting to my samsung phone with my cable. Is it not compatible?
