Toyota announces new Proace City Electric compact van

Toyota is opening another chapter in its zero-emission vehicle strategy with the announcement of a battery electric version of its Proace City compact van. The new model will join a battery electric version of the Proace medium duty van in the Toyota Professional light commercial vehicle range.

Proace City Electric will be available with a 50kw/h lithium-ion battery, giving a maximum power output of 134bhp, ensuring smooth operation in low emission zones.

Details and specifications of the UK model will be finalised in 2021 ahead of its introduction towards the end of the year.

  1. Hi

I have been salivating over the Proace City Verso as it is a lovely looking vehicle and perfect for what I need because of its size – and I hear there will be an electric version also – but will it be available in the UK? I have been over to the Toyata UK site but can only see the Proace City Panel Van so I am hoping they will sell it in the UK.

    1. Hi Bryn,
Thanks you for your enquiry on this model but unfortunately we currently do not have plans to launch the Proace City Verso into the UK market.
The reason is due to the current line-up of our car range, but we will pass on your interest to our product marketing team.
      Thanks.

  2. Hi. I can’t believe that with the ULEZ extension coming into force is not enough of a reason to bring the Proace city electric to the UK. I would have bought one . You only seem to have it in diesel. What’s the point in buying a brand new van that may fail to be exempt from the ULEZ in 3 to 5 years because it’s diesel. The Proace City is the perfect size and with the two sliding doors would make it the perfect van .Great pity no one at Toyota thinks it’s worth bring the electric version to the UK….

    1. Hi Paul,
As stated in the article, details and specifications of the UK model will be finalised in 2021 ahead of its introduction towards the end of the year.
We would recommend keeping an eye on our blog and social channels for the latest updates on this.
Please let us know if you have any further questions.
      Thanks.

    1. Hi there,
      Thanks for your comment.
Details and specifications of the UK Proace City Electric will be coming very soon.
      Thanks.

  4. hi, trying (unsucsessfully) to find out more info about the advantage of the 11 KW on board charger. Would I be correct in assuming this is what I would know as 3 phase supply and if so then its not really applicable to a domestic home charger. Struggling to see a benefit unless you can access commercial/ industrial supply.

    1. Hi Fred,

That’s correct. If you use public chargers that have a three phase supply, or your business has them at their hub, the 11kW OBC would be useful. Most people do not have those at home though! Are you considering one for your business?

      Thanks
