New GR Supra Jarama Racetrack Edition announced

Toyota GR Supra Jarama Racetrack Edition

Toyota is making an exclusive addition to its GR Supra range with the introduction of the new Jarama Racetrack Edition.

It offers unique styling elements and a high specification, adding to the GR Supra’s fundamental appeal as a sports car in its purest form. Production is limited to just 90 cars for for Europe with 30 available to UK customers – following the precedent set by previous GR Supra special editions.

Toyota GR Supra Jarama Racetrack Edition

Taking its name from the famous Spanish circuit where the GR Supra was first driven by the world’s media – to great acclaim – the Jarama Racetrack Edition is powered by the model’s original, 335bhp 3.0-litre turbocharged straight-six unit. Its special Toyota “GR” designation denotes the direct involvement of Toyota Gazoo Racing the car’s development.

It is visually distinguished by a unique Horizon Blue paintwork, contrasting with a matt black finish for the 19-inch forged alloy wheels and visible red-painted brake callipers. In the cabin the car’s special status is signified by a carbon fibre dashboard insert specifying its number in the European production run and featuring an outline map of the Jarama circuit, plus the Toyota GR Supra logo. The interior is upholstered in black Alcantara with blue stitching and the seats are power-adjustable and have a memory setting and integrated heating.

The sports performance and handling are every bit as rewarding as the regular GR Supra, founded on the car’s finely balanced chassis and the ideal “golden ratio” between the wide track and short wheelbase. A low centre of gravity, a lightweight and highly rigid body and aerodynamically efficient styling all add to the car’s agility and stability. These qualities are optimised by performance-enhancing features including adaptive variable suspension (with Normal and Sport settings), active differential, sports-tuned steering and powerful Brembo sports brakes with four-pot aluminium front callipers and 348mm ventilated front discs.

The turbo engine is matched to a rapid-shift eight-speed sports automatic transmission. When using the car’s launch control system, 0-62mph acceleration takes just 4.3 seconds. The driving experience is made all the more engaging by the peak 500Nm of torque being delivered all the way from 1.600 to 4,500rpm.

The equipment specification for the Jarama Racetrack Edition includes satellite navigation with 3D-mapping, smartphone integration (via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto), Supra Connect access to connected services and a 10-speaker audio system. Multimedia functions are controlled using an 8.8-inch TFT touchscreen, or (for certain functions) voice recognition.

The Supra Safety+ Package provides a comprehensive range of active safety features, including a Pre-Collision System with a pedestrian detection function and the ability to recognise cyclists during daytime driving; Lane Departure Alert with steering assist; Adaptive Cruise Control with stop-and-go function; Adaptive High-beam System; Adaptive Front-light System, which adjust the headlight illumination in line with the car’s steering angle; and Road Sign Assist.

  1. After owning and driving daily, a red Mk4 tt Rzs manual for seven glorious years during the late nineties and early naughties, (I wish I’d never sold it!) – the two pieces missing from the great and glorious new Mk5 is a rear wing, which I believe should be a slightly smaller but the same shape and fitment as the Mk4, and to my mind it should be twin sequential turbo not single, really happy with the gearbox arrangement though as I have experienced a DSG, and is far more rewarding on track and off than a manual. I only wish I could own one of these beauties. Whom so ever does, ‘drive it like you stole it’!

    1. Thanks for your kind words, Mark!
The GR Supra Jarama Racetrack Edition offers unique styling elements and a high specification, with only 30 available for UK customers.
      Thanks.

  2. Please could you explain why there is the same blue supra with the same wheels and seats on utube saying the car is for sale worldwide with 1000 units, I think selling the Jamara as an exclusive edition of 90 units is a bit misleading.

    1. Hi Alan,

      Thanks for getting in touch.

Production of the Jarama Race Track Edition is limited to just 90 cars for for Europe with 30 available to UK customers – following the precedent set by previous GR Supra special editions.

      Thanks

      1. Most of the press reviews are US market, but lists power increase, piston design, exhaust manifold changes, strut braces in the engine bay etc Just wondering if what we get in 2021/22 is exactly the same as original UK launch? Thanks

      2. Hi Alan,

Thanks for your comment. Europe has stricter emissions regulations, so the current GR Supra has the same powertrain as it did at launch. There have been no increases to power output.

        Thanks

  3. Hi Toyota,

The internet rumour mill is suggesting the US will be getting a manual gearbox with an S58 engine in late 2022. Is this option coming to the UK market? If so where/when can I place an order?

    1. Hi Dan,
      Thanks for your comment.
Unfortunately, we do not have any information on this at the moment.
Please keep an eye on our blog and social channels for the latest information.
      Thanks.

  4. Hi just wondering if you could list out the specific differences between the jarama edition and the standard one?

    All I got was:

    Horizon Blue paint
    Matt black 19 inch alloys
    Blue stitching on interior

    Thanks

    1. Hi Aaron, thanks for your comment.

The main differences between the GR Supra and GR Supra Jarama Racetrack Edition are what you have listed. This special edition GR Supra offers unique styling elements.

      Thanks.

  5. This article says “smartphone integration (via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto)”
However from what I can see elsewhere online, the Supra only has Apple, not Android Auto? Please confirm.

    1. Hi, thanks for your question.

This is correct. The GR Supra is only available with Apple CarPlay.

      Thanks.
