Toyota Smart Connect is our latest multimedia platform, which offers consumers more powerful hardware, faster response times, more intuitive operation and new functionality.
The system has a clean, clear and simple interface that is operated through a nine-inch, high definition touchscreen display. It offers crisp graphics and easier visibility in different lighting conditions, while its embedded SIM card provides a constant connection to online services. These services are included in the data package provided as part of the new car specification.
Being always-connected means that software and service updates can be automatically applied over-the-air, without the need to return to a Toyota centre. But it also allows the integrated satellite navigation system to provide moment-by-moment information on traffic events through a combination of connected cloud services and community feedback. Following such guidance will help to make journeys as time-efficient and trouble-free as possible.
Smart Connect provides wireless smartphone integration with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Similarly, by downloading the MyToyota connected services smartphone application, owners can remotely control a number of helpful features. These include remote locking and unlocking, on-board climate controls and activating the hazard lights (particularly useful when searching for your car in a crowded car park). Owners can also use the MyToyota app to access information such as driving behaviour data or to set reminders about servicing, road tax and insurance.
New services and features will be automatically added to Smart Connect as the system evolves. First among these is a new ‘Share to Car’ feature, which will allow owners to plan their journey at home and send those details to the car before setting off.
Which models are equipped with Smart Connect?
The new Yaris Cross compact SUV is the first model to receive this new multimedia platform but further vehicles will receive it in due course. The table below provides information on the specific multimedia system that is included in each Yaris Cross trim grade.

Hi, I contacted the Connectivity team on the evening of the 21st. I had also contacted them a few weeks ago shortly after taking delivery of the car but again received no reply hence why I posted here.

I have a brand new Yaris Cross with Smart Connect. The software version of the system is over a year old (dated October 2021) but it will not let me manually update nor will it auto update despite indicating that a newer version is available. I have the My T app on my phone and the system is registered and recognises my phone and my Wi-Fi both of which have full connectivity.
I did find an FAQ on a Toyota website which said regarding Over the Air software updates –
“You can install available updates at your convenience. Note that your vehicle may display ‘Updates available’ notifications as a reminder.
Please note that if updates are postponed for a prolonged amount of time, a visit to your dealership may be necessary to have them installed. ”

I have a Yaris Cross 2022 with the smart connect multimedia system. I am using a USB to play my music, everything is OK, however the system does not display the cover art. It displays everything else, which is annoying because my previous car a RAV4 did.
Also the user guide on page 274 shows the cover art being displayed.
NB:- I am using the same USB in the Yaris Cross as I was in the RAV4

I’ve just got the new Toyota Hybrid – we have the excel version.
How do I turn the radio off???
I have no usb plugged in and i have my phone connected for android auto – but i pressed the radio and now it wont turn off even when i go back to android auto for navigation… sometimes I want the radio on, sometimes I want it off so i’m not distracted and just have the navigation.
I know how to mute the audio – whilst this mutes the radio, it means i cant hear the navigation…so thats no good.
I know to hold home to turn the media unit off – but then i have nothing…so thats no good.
the manual that came with the car is for the basic yaris so is completely useless.
Surely theres an easy way to turn the radio off – especially considering it’s against the law for me to turn the screen

I have a Toyota Yaris Cross Design can the multi media player have the software upgraded so I can lock the car from my phone and use climate control. It does not look like I have these abilities at present in the my T app so assume it because the player does not support it
