What is the Toyota Public Charging Network?

Public Charging Network

The Toyota Public Charging Network is a subscription-based service that is designed to enhance the ownership experience for drivers of Toyota’s all-electric and plug-in hybrid models. Simply put, it offers owners of the following vehicles direct access to multiple charge points across the UK and Europe:

Public Charging Network: access all areas

Integrated into the MyT connected services app, the Toyota Public Charging Network is linked to Europe’s largest network of more than 150,000 public charging stations. As well as allowing owners to quickly locate participating charging stations throughout Europe, the service provides information on each station’s immediate availability, charging speed and price per kWh.

By using this network, owners benefit from a convenient charging solution that requires just one contract and a single charging card. This means it is possible to hook up to participating charging stations in different countries without the need for a selection of cards and contracts with other providers. Payment is made via a single monthly invoice.

MyT: advanced connectivity

The MyT app gives owners remote control of a number of key vehicle functions. For example, it is possible to activate the vehicle’s air conditioning system and tune the cabin climate before getting behind the wheel. Further controls allow owners to gauge how long it will take before the battery is fully charged, and to create a schedule that will only commence charging when energy prices are low.

Alongside EV-related tasks, MyT also includes the following useful features:

  • Find My Car – locates and guides the driver back to their Toyota
  • Share To Car – enables the driver to plan a route on another device and send it to their Toyota
  • Car To Door – guides the owner on foot to their final destination once they are parked
  • Driving Analytics – lets the owner track journeys, driving style, and highlight business trips
  • Service and Maintenance – helps the owner manage the care of their Toyota
  • Warning Lights – reveals the meaning of any warning lights displayed in the dashboard and explains any action that should be taken

  1. I’m obviously missing something because I cannot find any reference to this on either the mobile app nor the my Toyota web page

  2. It seems strange you dont have big charging operators like bp pulse on your network. Is this something you are looking to add?

  3. Does the free 6 months for a BZ4 start when you register, or after you take delivery of the vehicle? Ie, can I leave it a few months and then take the 6 months free?

    1. Hi James, thanks for your question.

The free 6 months doesn’t start until you choose to activate the subscription.

      Hope this helps.

      Thanks.

  4. In which case the answer is no, really surprised you would not include such a wide public network. 10 charge points for the all of Edinburgh is really poor, especially when compared to the amount of charge points on Zap map. Plus the fact that the closest charge point to me on your map is actually on an Aldi parking lot and only accessible to Aldi customers for 1h30 max.

This is really disappointing, are you considering expanding anytime soon?

This, coupled with the complete lack of communication on the BZ4X recall, its slow charge curve, the fact that I have yet to see it charging above 50kw at a rapid charger, and the poor mileage estimate, is rather frustrating.

    1. Hi Leroy, thanks for your question.

It usually takes about 5-7 days for the card to be shipped to you.

      Thanks.

  5. Are there no plans to enable smartphone payments for charging rather than just the card? It seems a backwards step to have to carry a physical card around.

    1. Hi Derek, thanks for your question.

Payment for the Public Charging Network is made via a single monthly invoice.

      Thanks.

  6. Unless I am misunderstanding this, the principle is that we pay £5 per month for the convenience of receiving a single invoice rather than maybe half a dozen separate payments. Although the network does not cover all providers anyway, so we will probably still have to use multiple payment methods. So £5 per month for what exactly???? Are the kwh rates any lower than we would pay if we just joined the other charger networks and pay as we go?

    1. Hi Derek, thanks for your question.

This service gives you a simple way to charge at thousands of charge points across the UK without having to set up alternative payment methods, or download multiple apps. This subscription works with your MyT App so you can manage all of your electric vehicle information in one place, such as costs and invoices for public charging.

You can see further benefits on the Toyota Public Charging Network, here: https://www.toyota.co.uk/electric/toyota-public-charging-network.

      Thanks.
