In this final episode of our conversation with Tokuo Fukuichi, ex-design chief at Toyota and now head of sister brand Lexus, we examine how universal laws help us to see beauty in the appearance of contrasting objects.
Fukuichi-san also gives us an insight into where he draws inspiration and comfort from, while revealing some of the trade secrets that help to create optical illusions in the cars we drive.
Indeed it is especially in the video below that we discover the painstaking process of balancing every aspect of Toyota design. Far from being a rushed or churned-out process, good design should display reasons behind every silhouette and shape. It is a very deliberate process that aims to create beauty in every Toyota vehicle, whether that be a sports car, SUV or saloon.
