The new Toyota Corolla Trek has joined the Corolla family line-up as a more rugged version of the Touring Sports. Aimed towards active families with outdoor lifestyles, the Trek adds even greater functionality for people who enjoy outdoor pursuits. The new model is the result of a collaboration between Toyota and Trek Bikes – a partnership that brings together two brands that share environmental values.
Founded in 1976, Trek Bicycles is one of the world’s most popular cycle brands, selling around 1.5 million bikes a year. As well as manufacturing high-performance cycling equipment, Trek also uses the bicycle as a way of helping remove barriers that prevent people from living happier, healthier and more active lives.
Toyota has signed an agreement with Trek to provide Corolla Trek models as support vehicles for the men’s and women’s teams competing in European events in the Trek-owned Trek-Segafredo World Tour.
Externally, the new Corolla Trek distinguishes itself with a 20mm increase in ride height for improved ground clearance. New black protective wheel arch cladding and under-runs front and rear help to give a more off-roading look. Additional features include a honeycomb grille, bespoke 17-inch machined alloy wheels, rear privacy glass, fog lamps, LED headlamps, and Trek logos on the doorsteps and tailgate.
Inside, the interior is carried over from the standard Corolla. However unique elements such as two-tone textile upholstery and wood-finish elements on the dashboard help set it apart. Standard equipment on the Trek model includes the latest version of “Toyota Safety Sense” plus a seven-inch TFT instrument display and an eight-inch TFT infotainment screen. Both Android Auto and Apple Carplay operating systems will be supported.
Prices for the Toyota Corolla Trek start from £29,225 when it launches with two hybrid powertrains. The engine choices from the launch will be a 1.8-litre hybrid plus a more powerful 2.0-litre hybrid. The 1.8 model will start from £29,225 while the 2.0 model will start at £30,950.
