Toyota C-HR service: all you need to know

Toyota C-HR service

If you want to make the most of your Toyota C-HR, then book a service at an official Toyota service centre. Keeping on top of maintenance means that your Toyota C-HR will be in the best of health, keeping you on the road for longer. And with years of experience in fixing and maintaining all Toyotas, your local service centre and its Toyota Technicians will be able to give your Toyota C-HR the attention it deserves.

The Toyota C-HR is a futuristic-looking compact SUV, and our Toyota centres have plenty of technology in their workshops to help keep it all working smoothly. Here we guide you through what you need to know about a Toyota C-HR service.

When is my Toyota C-HR service due?

Whether you own a Toyota C-HR powered by a 1.2-litre engine or either of the 1.8 or 2.0-litre hybrid models, service intervals are every 12 months or 10,000 miles, whichever comes first. The services alternate between minor and major, with the former involving an oil and filter change and a thorough inspection, while the latter replaces more items and takes a more detailed look at what’s going on under the skin of your Toyota C-HR.

Your local Toyota dealer can send you annual reminders when your service is due, while the car’s onboard computer can also let you know when the car’s mileage hits the 10,000-mile mark. The system won’t stop you from driving the car, but it’s recommended that you book your car in as soon as possible when a message about servicing appears.

What happens in a Toyota service?

You can book your Toyota C-HR service over the phone or via the Toyota website for a time and date that’s convenient for you. It’s at this time when you should ask about the availability of a courtesy car, should you need it. If you don’t need one, then you can always stay in our waiting area with tea, coffee and free wifi available to while away your time.

Our staff will look after your car and give it the attention it needs, with a full inspection and detailed look at everything on the car. The oil and filter will be changed, all fluids will be checked and the car will be inspected while on a hydraulic lift. Our technicians are trained on all of our cars, so they will know what to look for and will be able to spot issues in terms of damage or wear that might affect the way your car performs. Once finished, your Toyota C-HR will be subject to a complimentary wash and vacuum (where possible) and you will be provided with a visual safety report when you collect your car.

Why choose Toyota servicing?

Toyota service centres are staffed by Toyota Technicians, who are fully qualified to work on and maintain every Toyota in the range, old or new. So while the current Toyota C-HR is now exclusively hybrid-powered, our Technicians can still deliver the best care to older versions using the 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine. Constant training means that they will know what to look for when carrying out scheduled maintenance.

Toyota Technicians also offer a 37-point Vehicle Health Check to ensure that everything is in the work order. Early Toyota C-HRs are now more than three years old, so they need an MoT test, but our technicians can cover this, too, whether it’s booked as part of the car’s service, or if it’s arranged separately.

How much does a Toyota C-HR service cost?

You’ll pay the same price for a Toyota C-HR service no matter which UK dealer you take it to. The standard option is to pay for a service once it’s done, but this can be a lot for some people to pay all in one go. However, Toyota does offer service plans that mean you can pay in monthly instalments to help spread the cost. You can arrange for two services to be covered and even add the MoT to this payment, too, simply visit the Toyota Service portal on our website, and fill in your car’s details to get a specific quote for your Toyota C-HR.

Toyota Warranty

Every new Toyota C-HR is eligible to be covered by up to a 10-year/100,000 miles (whichever comes first) Toyota warranty. This is provided through an initial three-year manufacturer warranty, and up to an additional seven-year service-activated Toyota Warranty. Under Toyota Warranty, a 12-month/10,000-mile warranty is included with every Toyota service, giving you a chance to relax in the knowledge that you and your vehicle are in safe hands. Terms and conditions apply.

If you own a Toyota C-HR Hybrid, then you also benefit from Toyota’s Hybrid Electric Vehicle Service. This is a complimentary extra that’s included within the standard service, and our technicians will carry out checks of the car’s hybrid battery and electrical system to ensure everything is in working order. This adds up to 15 years of warranty cover for the car’s hybrid battery.

How to repair a Toyota C-HR

As well as regular maintenance, your local Toyota dealer can help with vehicle repairs. Whether it’s the bodywork, paint or mechanical parts that need fixing, our Technicians know the Toyota C-HR inside out and will be able to look after any work that needs carrying out. They will use official Toyota parts for the repairs, and these are covered by a 12-month warranty once they’re fitted.

    1. Hi Vaidas, thanks for your question.

Currently, Service A of the Toyota C-HR is £230 and Service B is £350.

      Thanks.

  1. I have a Toyota CHR 2 lye hybrid, does the hybrid battery need to be check yearly for the warranty and does it need to be checked at a Toyota dealer.

    1. Hi Dougie, thanks for your question.

The Toyota Hybrid Health Check is free with your scheduled servicing. If you’re not due a service, you can have the Check carried out, at a cost of £39. As well as this is an extension to the warranty of your battery. With each Hybrid Health Check you will get up to 1 year or 10,000 miles extension (whichever comes soonest) on your hybrid battery cover which can be renewed up to the 10th anniversary of the car’s registration with no limit on total mileage.

It is not required to have your vehicle serviced at a Toyota Centre if you do not wish to do so. However, repairs during the Additional Warranty period must be carried out by an Authorised Toyota Repairer.

      Thanks.

  2. I have just had a 50,000 mile service although the car has just done 27k. I have been given a health check but not a service check off list and what oil or filter used. It iwas a prepaid service plan. so the invoice was all zeros.
To check that the oil was changed I have used the dipstick 8 times and I am unable to see the level. The oil is very light but it also seems to be traces well above the marks. I wonce had an engine blow up due to overfilling so I am concerned

    1. Hi Robert, thanks for your question.

If you are dissatisfied with your service or unsure about what was carried out, we would recommend contacting your Toyota Centre so that they can clarify this.

      Thanks.

  3. Would it be OK to buy a Toyota chr with 56000 miles and full service history. My car is a Leon with 27000 miles thinking of trading for the chr.

  4. Looking at my last service history on my Toyota it shows as a minor service when in fact it was a major service, also under the Details heading it says +++++PLEASE NOTE+++++. Why? The dealers invoice states carried out 40,000mls/4Yr service including brake fluid change. I did enquire as to the engine cooling system change period/miles and was told 10 years or 100,000 miles. Is this correct? I have booked into my dealership (with whom I am happy) for my next service next month. Present mileage approximately 28,500 miles and the car will be 5 years old, hence my question’ Thanks.

    1. Hi John, thanks for your question.

We would recommend clarifying the details of your service with your Toyota Centre.

      Thanks.

  5. I’m lookin at a 69 C-HR (registered Jan 2020), full services carried out at 25k miles, Nov 21; 41k miles Dec 22; minor in Feb this year. Have those intervals invalidated the manufacturer warranty?

    1. Hi Gary, thanks for your comment.

The service intervals for a Toyota C-HR are every 12 months or 10,000 miles, whichever comes first. The services alternate between intermediate and full.

We would recommend contacting the Toyota Centre which you would be purchasing the vehicle from, in order to ask whether this car is eligible for warranty.

      Thanks.

  6. I have just bought a 2017 chr that has been fitted with LPG would this have been done by toyota

    1. Hi Stephen, thanks for your comment.

Your Toyota Centre are best placed to advise you on this as they have details of your service schedule.

      Thanks.

  7. Can you please point out to me where it states that the 12 volt battery is not covered under the extended warranty (ie if after 3 years and exclusive Toyota servicing? The hybrid battery cannot run without it and yet I’m told it is not covered. Told but have not seen this anywhere in writing online or elsewhere.

    1. Hi Sarah, thanks for reaching out.

Please see the following listed in the terms and conditions:

‘a) Maintenance parts (e.g. parts that have to be replaced periodically, filters, brake pads, linings, shoes and cables, clutch disc, clutch cover and clutch bearing), wheels, rims, tyres, (V or multi V) belts, batteries (unless hybrid battery in case explicitly mentioned as covered), fluids, spark plugs, diagnostics)’

You can confirm and discuss this further with your Toyota Centre.

      Thanks.
