Toyota is pleased to announce that owners of Corolla and RAV4 models produced since *2019 now have the possibility of an upgrade to their Toyota Touch 2 multimedia system to include Apple CarPlay and Android Auto mobile integration.
Compatible vehicles for Apple CarPlay upgrade:
- MY19 Corolla in all body styles and grades
- MY19 and MY20 RAV4 all grades excluding Icon
This multimedia upgrade allows owners to access the services included in their mobile phone on the multimedia display screen and action them through voice activation or by manually prompting through the steering wheel controls or touchscreen itself. In this way they will be able to safely enjoy applications such as Google Maps, Spotify, Amazon Music, WhatsApp and Waze without the need to directly interact with their mobile phone.
The Apple CarPlay and Android Auto upgrade for compatible vehicles will be carried out by appointment at your local Toyota centre. Toyota recommends that owners arrange to have the upgrade installed during a scheduled service.

* Depending on vehicle and specification, Toyota has installed its enhanced multimedia system as standard equipment since the 2020 model year. This means that vehicles with this system always feature Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionality.

Our system did not recognise your registration number. If your Yaris is not already equipped with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, it will not be compatible with the system and therefore retrofit is not possible.

I see conversions to allow Apple CarPlay to work in older RAVs on YouTube by placing a extra unit in behind the head. Tried checking the VIN on the Toyota website but I just get told it does not recognise it. Perhaps this is an odd way of saying your car is not compatible? My dealer seems no wiser.
The Toyota mapping does not allow full postcodes to be inserted and the CHR I am temporarily using fails to show B roads or any roads on housing estates. Therefore access to Apple/Google is imperative.

I live in iceland and i’ve contaced my toyota center and they said that they get the cars shipped from the uk and don’t do any retrofitting. Is there any known reason to why this isn’t available in some countries? I would have thought they’d only need to plug in a computer and use some special software to install this feature. Not having this makes my 2019 corolla feel a bit out dated,
