The 2023 Toyota RAV4 has unveiled a series of upgrades and a raft of enhancements that focus on improving life on board with new multimedia systems and a customisable new digital driver’s instrument display. Safety is enhanced, too, with new functions added to the Toyota Safety Sense systems. The changes are rolled out across the full range of hybrid electric and plug-in hybrid electric models, making the world’s original and best-selling recreational SUV an even more desirable proposition.
2023 Toyota RAV4: new multimedia system
The new RAV4 adopts Toyota’s latest multimedia system which features a larger,10.5-inch screen with a high-definition colour display.
The standard system provides cloud-based navigation that allows for accurate journey planning with information that’s constantly updated, plus live details of traffic and road events and how easy or hard it might be to find a parking place near your destination.
Thanks to the included four-year over-the-air “Smart Service” data package, customers can access Toyota’s latest multimedia and navigation systems without having to pair their smartphones to the vehicle.
The user experience is seamless with the accompanying MyT smartphone app, so customers can keep track of various vehicle information, such as driving analytics, fuel levels, warnings and “find my car” function. There’s also the time-saving convenience of being able to use the app to book service and maintenance appointments at Toyota centres.
Smartphone integration with Android Auto® is available and for added convenience, wireless smartphone integration with Apple CarPlay® is featured as standard.
There are more ways to communicate with your car using the new on-board voice agent that will respond to spoken requests to adjust the climate control, choose multimedia options, make a phone call, or open and close the windows. “Hey Toyota” is designed to understand conversational speech, so if you say “I’m cold” it will respond by closing the windows or raising the air conditioning temperature.
A further, optional multimedia system is also available, offering additional functions. It introduces an embedded navigation system that will operate when no data connection is available. It also recognises highway signs and can provide local weather alerts and notify the driver of restricted LEZs (low emission zones).
Remote services
The new RAV4 comes with more remote functions the driver can make use of without having to be in or near their vehicle. The familiar worries about whether you have left a window open, the doors unlocked or the lights on after you’ve walked away from your car are addressed with remote notifications to confirm the vehicle is secure. This feature is standard on all new RAV4 models.
You can also lock and unlock the doors – a handy feature if someone without a key needs access, for example to drop off a parcel or to clean the car. The hazard lights can also be flashed, making the vehicle easier to spot in a big or busy car park. These features are newly standard on mid-grade models, together with remote operation of the climate control to warm up or cool the cabin before making a journey.
2023 Toyota RAV4: new digital combimeter
It’s a feature of all-new Toyota models that the driver can view and take in key vehicle data at-a-glance, so there is the least distraction from their focus on driving and the road ahead. The new RAV4 introduces a new digital combimeter in the instrument binnacle that comes with flexible display settings. There is a choice of four styles and three layouts and personalisation options for the 12.3-inch display so the driver can choose the most relevant information needed between the numerical speedometer and digital dials, as well as other information such as an eco-driving meter, audio track information, or Adaptive Cruise Control display, among others.
These layouts are presented in four different style themes for a more customised look and feel: Casual, Smart, Sport and Tough.
The new unit is standard on all grades apart from the entry-level Icon model which uses a 7-inch version of the combimeter.
2023 Toyota RAV4: enhanced Toyota Safety Sense
The new RAV4 gains enhanced Toyota Safety Sense functions that can warn the driver and help avoid a wider range of common road accident risks.
The Pre-Collision System (PCS) gains intersection support that can help with safer turns at junctions. It will detect if the car is about to cross the path of any oncoming traffic, and if there are any pedestrians crossing the road into which the vehicle is moving, alerting the driver and, if necessary, initiating braking control to help avoid an impact.
Emergency Steering Assist is also newly provided, helping the driver avoid a pedestrian who has stepped into the road while keeping the car under control and within its traffic lane. On the RAV4 Plug-in, the system will also recognise and react to bicycles and parked vehicles. The RAV4 Plug-in’s PCS also gains the ability to detect oncoming vehicles in the car’s traffic lane and reduce the risk of a head-to-head collision.
New exterior colour
A new Platinum White Pearl exterior colour is being introduced for all grades of the RAV4 Plug-in Hybrid and Hybrid. Dynamic grade will see the introduction of a Platinum White Pearl bi-tone with Midnight Black Metallic for both variants.
Production of the 2023 Toyota RAV4 will begin during the third quarter of this year.
All information is correct at the time of publishing.
Good evening.
I agreed a price and paid £500 deposit in February 2022
I was told initially delivery was October 2022.
Now I’ve been told August /October.
I understand its not the dealerships fault but communication from them is terrible.
Question one is will the agreed price be honoured on the new rav 4?
Question two is, the price to change was agreed on the value of my part x. Will this be honoured too.
Cheers Mike
Hi Mike,
Your Toyota Centre would be best placed to assist you with this queries.
Thanks.
I understand that Toyota now require a Letter of Intent if you want to order a new Rav4 PHEV, this is fine but it needs some commitment the other way as to the price and full specifcation you will receive, what is the current delivery on a PHEV and if its 2024 I want a spec sheet as to what I will recieve before I commit to anything. Thats good business practice before any commitment like this.
Dear Toyota
I ordered and placed a deposit in April 2022 for a rav4 plug in dynamic premium fully loaded with everything including cooling seats, Im told by the dealer it should arrive April 2023, but nobody really seems to know including the dealership including what am I actually going to get, will it be a 2022 car or a 2023 specification car, will it have less spec? Will it be the same specification I ordered, Will the price still stand? I will have to wait and see.
I’m still looking forward to it.
Hi Bob, thank you for your order.
Due to the global semi-conductor micro-chip shortage, our lead times are much longer than usual. We appreciate your patience and understanding at this time. Your Toyota Centre are best placed to advise you on the specification and details of your order.
We are glad you are looking forward to receiving your RAV4 and wish you many happy miles in it!
Thanks.
I work with an industry who have also had the same issues with semi-conductor micro-chips but over the last 6 months these shortages are decreasing rapidly so I am very surprised that a company as large as Toyota are not back upto capacity, I could order a Lexus UX which is the same car technolgy wise just a different body and get delivery in 6 months, presently I am looking after 5off RAV4’s at moving due to this very poor lack of response and keep sending people back to Your Toyota Centre who only refer us back to Toyota issues not having the answer and more and more frustrated.
Hi Bob,
We understand the frustration that this situation has caused and can only apologise for this.

Thanks.
My dealership manager in West London has emailed me and Toyota GB to say they will keep me informed, but the chassis is not built yet, it will probably arrive August 2023 but will definitely be the new 2023 updated model. I’m happy to wait driving my bonkers Toyota GR Yaris.
Hi Bob,
I ordered a Premium model and very disappointed with TGB and Dealer with the lack of information as like me, i suspect you won’t be getting the spec that you have ordered. No cooling seats, no HUD, No JBL, No memory seats and the list goes on. What you may receive is the Dynamic with a Pan roof!!
The most annoying thing is, if you go on some Rav forums other people around the world are taking delivery of their MY23 with JBL etc…So question is, why aren’t the UK customers getting the correct spec they ordered. In Dec 2022 price list Premium model dropped but you could upgrade the Dynamic to have JBL and Pan roof.
Lou, this is exactly my worry and has someone who does just over 30K pa need the luxury and spec, keep blaming Semi-Comductor is now very poor has I work within an industry who uses them and delievries have improved drastically in the past 6 months. I have also noticed like you that colleagues with my company around the worls are getting cars within 5-7 months of order, Why aren’t we here in the UK?
Hi Lou
My dealer has confirmed it will be the new 2023 car fully loaded as ordered but won’t arrive until August as the new model isn’t built yet. Any earlier it will be a 2022 model. I need to ask him is the price fixed and the low apr fixed.
I too have just ben notified that my Dynamic Premium vehicle has effectively been down spec’d, What I haven’t been told is what is being provided instead.. So what Sound system? Why the down specing of the seating since the driver seat is powered why not the passenger as was before? Is there a full spec document available so I may compare.
Hi Martin, thanks for your comment.
We apologise for the inconvenience this has caused.
We would recommend contacting your Toyota Centre for details on your vehicle’s specification.

Like other people on here, I ordered my RAV 4 Dynamic Premium because of the vented seats and the upgraded sound system. This car was ordered in January 2022 and the promised delivery dates just kept getting longer. I was was initially told that delivery would not be until November 2023 which made me consider cancelling the contract, but I have just heard that it could be available at the end of May, but I have had these promises before. There has been no communication on the change in specification and it is obvious I will not be getting the car I ordered. If this had been communicated I the time, I may have chosen a different vehicle. Perhaps that is the reason for the silence. Very poor customer service from such a prestigious company.
Hi Nick, thanks for your comment.
We understand your frustration and apologise for the inconvenience this has caused.

Like other people on here, I ordered my RAV 4 Dynamic Premium because of the specifications of the car. This car was ordered in April 2022 with a delivery date of October 2022. This very soon became March 2023, then September 2023 and now I’m told November 2023. It seems clear from this web site that the specification of my car has changed but there’s no information regarding this change available. Are Toyota currently fulfilling orders already made and if so what is the specification being supplied corresponding to the Dynamic Premium specification? I am concerned that my new car will be to a lower specification than my existing vehicle. For instance, with two drivers using the car electric front seats with a memory function are an absolute must. I would not consider buying a car that wasn’t equipped with this functionality. There has been no communication on the change in specification from my dealership only continuing delaying of the delivery date. Will I be getting the car I ordered? If not can you tell me what the specification will be. This is very poor customer service from such a prestigious company.
Hi Martyn, thanks for reaching out to us.
We understand your frustration and apologise for the inconvenience this situation has caused.
The global semi-conductor micro-chip shortage has caused significant increases to our lead times.
Your Toyota Centre are best placed to advise on specification details for your order. Please contact them regarding this.

Once again, we are sorry for the confusion this has caused and would like to assure you that we are doing all we can to get your vehicle to you as soon as possible.
Many thanks.
Covid & semiconductor shortages aren’t good excuses anymore.Similarly I ordered a Dynamic Premium with every all options that was there at the start of 2022. Now they are saying it’s not available anymore when I signed the documents with all the specs which is clearly a breach of contract if not maintained. No communications whatsoever. Toyota if you aren’t able to keep up the Dynamic Premium just drop the vehicle altogether like you mistakenly did with the Avensis, Camry , Highlander . Very disappointing experience. Going to look into Kia or something else. In USA every option is still available. Without the JBL the sound quality is a disgrace. Cooling seats, Electric Passenger seats and the rest is a must. You guys always do such things with your poor market research. Even the Hilux Corolla lost thier Passenger E-Seats. Cheaper brands offers so many options as standards. Act before it’s too late. When the 2003 Avensis hatchback was made all taxis went back to Toyota in UK. They they started playing again dropping the Hatchback and the rest. Many gave up and went to Skoda with their Innovative boot/hatchback for taxis. Avensis 2009 upwards ….chear poor interior Materials used….Corrolla drop for Auris was a major unforgivable mistake for the Industry.
Very disappointed in You guys now not keeping up the Dynamic Premium. You will lost many orders and customers.
Still available in Europe as Style+ or you can order the new GR Enzo but uk just seem to be not ordering half the vehicles as other markets.
