New equipment revealed for 2021 Toyota Hilux line-up

The Toyota Hilux has worked hard to earn its reputation as one of the world’s most trusted and capable pick-ups. But there is much more to the 2021 Toyota Hilux than that. More than ever, we feel it is a vehicle that strikes an optimal work/life balance.

As explained below, the 2021 model year has brought numerous changes to deliver on that promise. The suspension has been modified to create more dynamic on-road performance and a new 2.8-litre engine is now available. Equipment specifications have also been upgraded to keep pace with connectivity, entertainment and safety, while new external styling revisions enhance its presence.

2021 Toyota Hilux equipment: multimedia package

All new Hilux models from Icon grade upwards are equipped with the latest Toyota Touch 2 multimedia system, which features upgraded software to improve its responsiveness. On the flagship Invincible X grade (as below), the functionality includes satellite navigation. Smartphone integration through Apple CarPlay or Android Auto is another new feature and provided as standard from Icon grade upwards.

The richness of the Hilux Invincible X’s on-board infotainment extends to a powerful nine-speaker JBL Premium Sound audio system, with an eight-channel amp, 244mm subwoofer and Clari-Fi technology to optimise the quality of compressed digital audio files.

2021 Toyota Hilux: choose your body

As before, customers can choose the Hilux body style that best suits their needs: Single Cab for a focus on work; Extra Cab, when occasional extra seating is needed; and Double Cab, with five-seat, four-door convenience, generous deck space and formidable all-wheel-drive performance.

Active grade can be specified in all body styles, while Icon, Invincible and Invincible X are only available in Double Cab format. The new 201bhp 2.8-litre engine (below) is an option on Invincible and Invincible X models only.

  1. Face lift looks great , however I’m disappointed the new blue and red colours don’t seem available in the U.K. and very limited options why no nav and DAB pack for the active model .. come on Team TGB don’t let Ford soak up the Mitsubishi customers ,
Oh and what on earth is a chassis body in the price list surely you mean a chassis cab ??the rest of the known world calls the load carrying part the body or load bed and a part built truck for
Fitting with a specialist body a chassis cab ..

    1. Hi Finners,
      Thanks for getting in touch.
All grades of new Hilux are available in Crimson Spark Red and Nebula Blue, and these can be viewed on our car configurator: https://www.toyota.co.uk/new-cars/hilux/
We’re sorry that the specification of the Hilux doesn’t suit your needs. However, if navigation is essential, this is available on the Invincible X model, and DAB is available on all but the Active model. Also, from Icon grade and above, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are fitted, so you can use the map apps from your phone.
      Thanks.

      1. Yes invincible x Extra cab seems available everywhere else in the world , very typical of TGB always being just a bit out of touch with buyers, and then playing catch-up later..
I think they would have gone bust years ago if they had been selling a lesser Marque !!!

      2. Hi Finners,
        Thanks for your reply.
The Hilux Invincible X is only available in Double Cab specification at this time. We’ll be sure to pass your feedback on to our product team.
Once again, we are sorry if this does not match your ideal specification.
        Thanks.

  2. Sorry the new colours areFeverish red and Saturn blue quite like the nebula blue but that crimson spark is hideous …

      1. Hi Ian,
Thanks for your feedback – we’re glad you’re a fan of the Crimson Spark colour!
Are you a Hilux owner already?
        Thanks.

  3. Does my invincible x 2021 have a heated screen as it has a heated screen/mirror/rear screen button. If so it doesn’t work if it’s not got one why not!

    1. Hi Jaimie,
Thanks for getting in touch with us, and congratulations on your Invincible X! We hope you’re enjoying it so far.
The Invincible X comes with electric heated door mirrors, but it does not have a heating element in the windscreen.
As with any other car, it does come with a function to blow air onto the windscreen to defog.
The Invincible X also comes with a power heat button to heat the engine coolant, speed up the warming of the cab in cold weather and keep the cab warm. This can be found on the panel to the right of the steering wheel.
Along with this, there is a windshield wiper de-icer, which prevents ice from building up on the wiper blades.
      Thanks.

    1. Hi Stewart,
      Thanks for contacting us.
The tyre size on the 2021 Invincible X is 265/60R18.
If your query was referring to a different year of vehicle, you can provide the reg and we can check this out separately for you.
      Thanks.

    1. Hi Stephen, thanks for your question.

Only the 17″ alloys are advised for the Active grade, it is just the Invincible and Invincible X gradings that feature the 18″ ones.

      Thanks.

      1. thanks for that i have a new extra cab on order delivery estimated end of april i have ran hilux pick ups for 33 years love them my present motor is a 2015 extra cab with 17 inch invincible wheels fitted do you think they would go onto the new pickup also is the cat under the bonnet now and if so what are the two boxes on the exhaust directly under cab below driver thanks

      2. Hi Stephen,

Congrats on your new truck. The wheels should fit, yes. As far as we know, there haven’t been any changes to the positioning of the catalyitc converter. Best to check with your Toyota centre for more info. Thanks.

    1. Hi James,

Difficult one to answer. We don’t have a specific maximum size and can’t recommend that you modify the vehicle away from manufacturer’s specification, sorry.

      Thanks

  4. hi are the headrests removable on the back bench seat on the new extra cab it just that they are not practical for me it will only be dogs in the back thanks

    1. Hi Stephen,

It looks like the extra cab can come with or without headrests (depending on specification). If it does come with headrests they can be removed, but may leave or expose 2 hook holes in the rear panel which could be visible once the rear panel trim is refitted. Please contact your local Toyota centre for more information.

      Thanks

  7. hi with regarding active rear diff lock and icon automatic limited slip diff why the difference active work truck towing carrying bales etc which is best diff lock or lsd thanks

    1. Hi,

Active is the entry level Hilux grade. It has a rear differential lock as standard. The Icon grade is the next grade up and gets the automatic limited slip differential. As with any vehicle from any manufacturer, more equipment is available on higher grade vehicles. If an automatic limited slip differential is important to you, we recommend the Icon grade. Thanks.

      1. i was just wondering if the rear diff lock is superior to a limited slip diff regarding field work thanks

      2. Hi Stephen,
        Thanks for your reply.
A locked differential is better for off-roading, especially in really slippery conditions.
        Thanks.
