2019 Toyota RAV4: UK grade structure and pricing

The all-new fifth-generation Toyota RAV4 becomes exclusively a self-charging full hybrid model. Built on the Toyota New Global Architecture platform, it offers a 2.5-litre powertrain that delivers a strong combination of power, performance and high fuel and emissions efficiency.

Both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive models will be available, the latter being an intelligent system with much greater on- and off-road capabilities than the current RAV4 Hybrid. As an electric-powered system, it is lighter and more compact than mechanical all-wheel drive, yet can achieve the same level of torque output.

  1. Does the update of the SatNav fix the DAB radio ???

I’ve read the following on another bb:

Toyota UK have announced details of the programme to allow the upgrade of existing MM17 Audio units in 2019 Corolla & 2019 Rav4.

A retro fit kit will be available via your local Toyota dealer starting May 2020 and will available to install on all 2019 Corolla Grades and 2019 Rav4 with the exception of the ICON grade, there is no solution available for 2019 Rav4 Icon, 2019 Prius nor 2019 Camry.

Upgrade will cost £120 for Corolla & £150 for Rav4 there will be a reduced cost offer for upgrades completed along with routine servicing price TBC exact details of logistics and technical processes will be given to dealers at the end of Q1 2020.

Toyota have asked dealers to inform owners of both models of the upcoming availability.

    1. Hi Steve,

Thanks for getting back in touch. Could we please have some further details on what your current DAB concern is? In addition if you could also provide us with the reg we can look into this with our technical team.

      Thanks.

  2. Hi Toyota,

What is the latest on when Apple/Android car play will be available for my Rav4.. its real shame that this was not available for a brand new end of year 2019 Rav4.

I can’t believe Toyota can fall behind french made cars.

  3. Noisy panels.

I have had my RAV4 over 6 months now and have noticed that there are noises and on looking I find that many of the plastic panels move and when tapped they make a noise when they come into contact with the metal (eg door).

Local Toyota dealer has said that they have checked with Toyota and it’s by design that the panels don’t fit tightly and they can rattle when they move.

Dealer has offered to fit a sound proofing kit (at my expense) as Toyota don’t cover poorly fitting panels as that’s by design.

It’s like Boeing saying ALL 737 MAX aircraft crash by design, live with it (or die in the case of the passengers).

If all vehicles have the same issue it can’t simply be written off as by design. It clearly doesn’t meet the expectation of the customer, the panels shouldn’t make a noise due to poor fitting due to poor design. Hard plastic that flexes against a hard metal surface are going to make a noise.

Why wasn’t there a rubber layer between the flexible plastic and the hard metal ?

I’m going to have to try and put some tape between.

Should I inject silicon sealer or use a rubber tape attached to the panel and wrapped around the edge coming into contact with the metal door ?

As the car was ~ £35k I can’t use the credit card guarantee as that only covers purchases up to £30k !

    1. Hi Steve,

Thanks for getting in touch. We are sorry to hear you are unhappy with your RAV4. We would like to look into this further for you with our customer relations team and will email you directly regarding this.

      Thanks.

  4. Hi.. Toyota RAV 4 – Very poor Sat Nav. As has been noted on several other posts the poor and clunky Sat Nav is a major disappointment on my brand new Rav4. There are of course lots of comments on-line about Apple Car play becoming available as an ‘upgrade’ and that owners should contact their local dealer about installation.. when i contact my local dealer, they want to charge me £150 for the work or £50 if i have the software ‘upgrade’ at the same time as the vehicle is serviced.. I have a few points about this! – Firstly, my car is just over one month old and was collected in January 2020 – should i really have to pay for the ‘upgrade’ at all..!! Also, given that it could be many months before the car requires a service should i really have to wait for 12 months or longer before i can get the cheaper install.. Its bad enough that a £38 k car has such a poor Sat System supplied in the first place but to apply charges for a retro install is just exploiting your customers.. If i fail in my attempt to get a free upgrade of Apple Car Play (to overcome the substandard OEM Sat Nav) then i for one will not be buying another Toyota ever again. So disappointed.

    1. Hi Steve,

      Thanks for getting in touch.

There is a charge for the retrofit as you will be receiving additional equipment in your vehicle, which does require labour from our technicians. Please also be aware that if you were to order a RAV4 today, it would come with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard. As a result, this has now been included in the price. For example, at launch, the 2019 RAV4 Design AWD cost £33,430. It now costs £34,430 to include smartphone integration.

If you would like to discuss this further with our customer relations team, you can find their contact details via this link: https://www.toyota.co.uk/contact-us/

      Thanks.

      1. Hi Toyota, I’ve just been told, by my dealer, the update for my Rav4 19 plate isn’t available until May. Is this right?

      2. I’ve been told this update is now not available till September (Possibly) may even be December is this correct

      3. Hi John,
        Thanks for your comment.
Due to the disruption to our operations caused by COVID-19, the Apple CarPlay retrofit for RAV4 has been pushed back to October.
        Thanks.

  5. Why can I no longer add speed cameras to the sat nah? The icon had not been on screen for weeks now. Also traffic rarely if ever updates until I’m already in the jam. Renders it a bit pointless really.

I also have the panel rattle in the cabin and it’s very annoying but coming from mercedes and BMW previously it seems Toyota’s view on quality is far from what any customer would expect

  6. Hi Chris,

Thanks for getting in touch. We’re sorry to hear about the issues you’re experiencing. As we are unable to look over your car ourselves, we would recommend visiting your nearest Toyota centre. They are best equipped to assess the car in person and make any necessary recommendations. You can find your nearest centre via this link: https://www.toyota.co.uk/forms/forms?tab=pane-dealer

In addition to this, if you would like to send us your reg, we can look into this further with our multimedia team.

    Thanks.

  7. i have a 2019 rav excel is it possible to have the panoramic view monitor fitted as an after market or do you have to have it when ordering from new

    1. Hi Alistair,

Thanks for getting in touch and apologies for our delayed response. Th Panoramic view monitor is only available as part of the JBL pack option which includes the PVM, fitted from factory.

As there is no accessory option there is no way to retrofit this after purchase.

      Thanks.

  8. Hi there, can i get a sunroof fitted after buying a 2019 rav4 hybrid design? And what’s the biggest official alloys I can get (not other makes)?

    1. Hi Chris,

Sorry, a sunroof cannot be fitted after production. The biggest wheels available for the 2019 RAV4 are 18 inch.

      Thanks
