Young creative talent sought for 2019 Toyota Dream Car Art Contest

Toyota knows that when it comes to creativity, children know no boundaries. The annual Toyota Dream Car Art Contest always produces highly imaginative and colourful ideas, and last year’s British winner Tess Hudson made it through to the world finals and a bronze award.

Past ideas that have captured the judges’ imagination include a van designed to cheer people up, a car which cleans the environment and a vehicle offering relief to those in need. Tess’s winning entry, Deep Freeze, was designed to lower the temperature of the ocean, preventing the bleaching of coral reefs and the melting of icecaps.

Entries are now open for the UK round of the 2019 global competition, calling for children to let their imaginations run wild and come up with great ideas for cars of the future.

Young people are asked to draw or paint their dream car, presented against a background that shows where they imagine it being driven. The artwork should be accompanied by a short explanation of how the car works and what makes it special. Submissions must be hand-drawn or painted, not computer generated. Paper must be A3 size or smaller.

Entry forms can be downloaded and more information, including inspiration from previous winning designs and full competition terms and conditions, can be found at the Dream Car Art Contest page at www.toyota.co.uk/dreamcar. The closing date for entries is 21 January 2019.

There will be gold, silver and bronze winners in each age category in the national competition, each of whom will receive a variety of different prizes, including computer tablets and Toyota goody bags. Their entries will also go forward for consideration in the global competition and the chance to win the trip of a lifetime to Japan.

The age categories are: under-eight, eight to 11 years old and 12 to 15 years. All entrants must live in the UK. For full details, terms and conditions please refer to the Dream Car webpage: www.toyota.co.uk/dreamcar

  1. How come entrants who live in UK only can apply for the competition? I have one out of four nephews who would have liked being one of the entrants to the competition but as she comes from Malta she is not entitled. We own 5 Toyota cars between 3 families, that is, myself, my daughter’s family, and my son’s family. these are : 3 Toyota Yaris, 1 Toyota Corolla, and a Toyota RAV 4. In my opinion there shouldn’t be any discrimination as to where you come from !! Anyway, thanks just the same.
    Roger from MALTA.

    1. Hi Roger,

Thank you for getting in touch. It is great to hear that your nephew is keen to get involved with the contest. We will have a review of our terms and conditions and be back in touch with you as soon as we can. As this is a global competition we want to give as many children as possible the chance to enter.

      Thanks.
