Toyota brought pace, sound and spectacle to the Goodwood Festival of Speed 2025 with multiple stars and cars from Toyota Gazoo Racing’s participation in three premier FIA motorsport series: World Rally Championship (WRC), World Rally-Raid Championship (W2RC) and the World Endurance Championship (WEC).

The top-level WRC driving talent included current championship leader Elfyn Evans, youngest ever champion Kalle Rovanperä, Japanese rising star Takamoto Katsuta and newcomer Sami Pajari. They put the GR Yaris Rally1 (above right) – the dominant model in this year’s championship with six victories so far – and the GR Yaris Rally2 (above middle) from WRC’s second tier through their paces. Seth Quintero, the young trailblazer in W2RC, was also present, and took the wheel of the mighty GR DKR Hilux Evo (below).

Through Toyota Gazoo Racing’s engagement in motorsport, Toyota gains technology development, skills and insights that it applies to building ever-better cars for the road. The festival demonstrated this philosophy in action in the form of the GR Yaris Aero Performance (below, top left), equipped with an aero package customers will be able to specify for their car. The updates include an adjustable rear wing, new front fender ducts, a front lip spoiler, rear floor cover, additional vents in the lower rear bumper and a motorsport-style vent on the bonnet.

We also showcased the potential future of World Endurance Championship engineering with our new liquid hydrogen-fuelled GR LH2 Racing Concept (below). Based on TGR’s current GR010 Hybrid Hypercar, this concept demonstrates how our multi-pathway approach for reducing carbon emissions is being applied to motorsports machinery as well road-going vehicles.

What else did Toyota bring?
The festival also featured the British-built hydrogen fuel cell Hilux prototype. This advanced version of the legendary pick-up worked alongside the full hybrid Corolla Commercial – also built in the UK – as a support vehicle.
Additionally, the famous Celica GT-Four name returned to the Goodwood Festival of Speed 2025 in the form of the classic ST185 rally car. The all-wheel drive ST185 was famously driven by Juha Kankkunen to championship-winning success in 1993. Today, an example is campaigned by Jari-Matti Latvala in the FIA Historic Rally Championship, finished in a striking Toyota Gazoo Racing livery.

It all sounds excellent and as far as the Toyota Yaris is concerned, i think it’s a grand little car.

The entire presentation vividly illustrated Toyota’s strategy: leveraging motorsport to innovate and excite.
