2026 Toyota bZ4X: dual battery option

The bZ4X range is growing with the introduction of two battery options — 57.7kWh or 73.1kWh — to help customers select a version that best suits their driving requirements and budget. The former will be exclusive to the front-wheel drive model, whereas the larger battery will be available in both front- and all-wheel drive versions. The maximum range on the WLTP drive cycle is expected to be 356 miles (subject to homologation), depending on grade and powertrain.

All-wheel drive73.1kWh338bhp

The bZ4X’s compact, lightweight and energy-efficient eAxles have been upgraded with the introduction of silicon carbide semiconductors, which help deliver greater power output. Related to this is the all-wheel drive version’s increase in towing capacity, now doubled to 1,500kg. A new 22kW AC onboard charger will also be available on higher grade models; the maximum DC charging power remains 150kW.

Each battery pack is covered by our Battery Care Programme, which covers it for up to ten years of vehicle age, or up to 620,000 miles driven, subject to an annual battery health check.

2026 Toyota bZ4X: design and tech

The front of the 2026 car presents a more sleek, elegant look with improved aerodynamics, while the interior has been fully updated. There is a new centre console for easy connection and use of digital devices, plus a new instrument panel design with a 14-inch multimedia screen fitted as standard. Meanwhile, updates to the suspension deliver improved comfort and driving dynamics.

A battery pre-conditioning function will now come as standard. This helps to ensure optimal temperature for charging, which in turn allows higher charging power. Pre-conditioning can be activated manually or automatically by navigating to a fast-charging station.

An EV routing function is provided in the navigation system. Already installed in current bZ4X models, this automatically selects a route which takes into account the car’s state of charge, remaining driving range, and convenient charging stations along the way.

The 2026 Toyota bZ4X is expected to be introduced in the UK after summer this year.
Details of the UK model range and specifications will be announced later.
