2016 Toyota Touch 2 with Go multimedia system

The upgraded 2016 Toyota Touch 2 with Go multimedia system offers significant new features over the outgoing version, including tile-based menu designs, improved functionality, and a simplified connection to the MyToyota customer portal.

Some of the key advantages are explained below.

Touch 2 with Go: naming and navigation

From the 2016 model year, the range of multimedia systems has been simplified to two options: Toyota Touch 2, and Toyota Touch 2 with Go.

Vehicles with 2016 Toyota Touch 2 with Go as standard, or with Go selected as an option, now benefit from free annual map care updates for three years as well as three years of connected services. High-spec Excel grade models (excluding Yaris) include the extra functions of 3D maps, voice recognition, and text-to-speech within the navigation system.

Touch 2 with Go: new features

The 2016 Toyota Touch 2 with Go has 10 new features, accessed via a new tile-based menu design (see below) which offers greater clarity and improved operation. It also improves functionality by reducing the number of steps required to complete each operation.

The navigation menu and sub-menus have been simplified, and a new split-screen view allows users to see more functions at a glance, combining the navigation map with access to settings and app information (see below). In addition, the navigation screen can be customised so owners can create short-cut tile icons to frequently used operations.

One of the key new features is Auto-navigation (see below), a function that allows the driver to programme the navigation system with up to four regular destinations and a departure time window for each day of the week.

When the vehicle is switched on within that departure time the navigation automatically activates, plotting the most congestion-free route to the chosen destination on that particular day. In order to make this proposal, information is drawn from TomTom real-time traffic information.

Further navigation enhancements include the ability to check Street View images and what the weather is like at your destination. As you approach the destination, the system will also inform the driver of available parking spaces nearby.

Vehicles with built-in voice recognition now benefit from Siri eyes-free software, which delivers vocal control of Apple iPhone functions. The driver merely needs to press and hold the voice recognition button on the steering wheel to talk to Siri on his iPhone (Android version not available).

Touch 2 with Go: registering with MyToyota

The 2016 Toyota Touch 2 with Go software update now allows owners to establish a mobile data connection with the device and create a MyToyota customer account from inside the car, thereby avoiding any difficulties programming the unit’s individual ID number.

  1. I have recently taken delivery of a Hilux Invincible (HF22 XLM) which has the touch 2 multimedia system. Can the Go navigation be added to this as was the case on previous years models?

    1. Hi Martin,
      Unfortunately, this is not possible.
However, your Hilux does have Apple Car Play / Android Auto either way though so can still access navigation via your phone.
      Thanks.

  2. I have a 2015 Toyota Auris NV15 HWZ and had the Auris ‘Navigation and Multimedia system’ installed when I bought the car in 2017. I have never been able to set it up properly. I am trying again.
The system points at the portal ‘Toyota.eu’. However my login account is on Toyota.co.uk. When I try to set up applications on the device it says that I need an account on Toyota.Eu. When I try to create an account on Toyota.eu it goes go toyota-europe.com. I then tried to create an account here and I get the message that I am on the wrong portal. It is frustrating!
I am on software version 6.90WL map id 2017v1. Please advise

    1. Hi Mike, thanks for your comment.

  3. Hi,
I have a Toyota Auris Touring Sports 1.8VVT-h 136 SS EU6 Icon Tech CVT Auto. This is a company car and came to me preconfigured.

Will the satnav work in Europe without any need for modification/updates?

    Thanks

    1. Hi Steven,

The satellite navigation should work in Europe. If you’ve got a journey to mainland Europe planned, try entering your destination into the satellite navigation to double check this.

      Thanks

  4. I have a 2017 1.33 Dual Vvt I Icon. The Sat nav seems to be stuck on mute. Nothing happens when I press the button on the touch screen. Sometimes it’s red, sometimes black – either way it’s silent. Also, on the rare occasions it does work the satnnav voice is very quiet- how do i turn it up? I cant find any answer in the manual. Thanks

    1. Set the satnav to a local destination and at a point in the route that you would expect the satnav to tell you to turn left/right/straight on press the volume + button. This will increase the volume if you’ve caught it at the right moment

  5. hi there I have an mk8 2017 hill and have downloaded the new updated 2022 maps touch 2 and put in on a stick but when I put it into the truck nothing happened as on your step by step guild it says it should start updating

  6. Hi,
I have recently bought a 2016 Auris Excel auto, ML66PZZ. I’ve registered it on Toyota’s customer portal, which indicates the multimedia as Toyota Touch 2 Go Plus MM13. The map ID is 4.5.0WH 2015 v2. I don’t think it has ever been updated since new, so will I be able to download the latest map update 6.21.1H to a USB stick, and install it with out any problems? Is there a tutorial for this? The fact that it is its first update, will I still have to pay for it, and will it come with 3 years of free updates?
Sorry, so many questions! Hope you can help.
    Thanks

  7. Hi Toyota,

I have a hybrid RAV4 with MM16 Touch 2 with Go installed, is there any way to get Apple Car Play working on it? I love the car but it is the biggest let down not having car play.

  8. Hello, does the Rav4 Excel 2016 model (66 plate) with Toyota Touch 2 (without Go) have Android Auto? Or is it too old?

    1. Hi Helen, thanks for getting in touch.

Please provide a vehicle registration so that we can look into this for you.

      Thanks.

  9. I have a 2016 Hilux with Touch 2 with Go. On a recent journey the navigation system crashed and the screen went blank. Restarting it, the navigation module is now defunct and the system has reverted back to the basic Touch 2 system. Upon following the diagnosis the Toyota Extension Box is no longer recognised.
The Hilux has been to my local dealer who has confirmed that the Nav unit is ‘dead’.
According to your extended warranty the Multimedia system is covered, however according to the dealership it isn’t.
Can you please confirm if it is covered or not. The Hilux has always been serviced by Toyota, currently 62K miles, registered 2016, so well within the 100,000mile warranty.

If it is covered could please advise how I need to proceed with this – a perplexed and disgruntled 2nd Hilux owner
