Toyota awards 2026:
Toyota is top car-maker in YouGov’s Best Brand Rankings
For the second year running, Toyota has been judged the leading global automotive company in YouGov’s annual Best Brand Rankings. The international online research data and analytics technology group declared Toyota “a global automotive powerhouse” and commented: “In a year when global brand performance was shaped by economic pressure, rising prices and shifting consumer expectations, Toyota was the only car brand to appear in the global top ten. In a category which typically has strong domestic loyalties, Toyota’s presence as a top ten global brand is an exception to the norm.”

YouGov rankings are based on long-term BrandIndex tracking across 28 markets. The data is sorted into six key metrics: Impression, Quality, Value, Satisfaction, Recommendation, and Reputation. Results within these areas indicated the long-term positive consumer perceptions of the Toyota brand.

Toyota retains top car-maker position in UK customer satisfaction survey
Toyota has retained its position as the highest ranked automotive manufacturer in the latest UK Customer Satisfaction Index – a twice-yearly independent report published by the Institute of Customer Service. This is the third consecutive time that Toyota has secured this top ranking, and reflects our commitment to place the customer at the heart of our business.

Toyota achieved an overall score of 84.6 out of 100, which showed further improvement on our already top-ranked scores in July 2025 and January 2025. Digging deeper into individual areas within the survey, Toyota was the highest scoring automotive company for customer experience, customer ethos and emotional connection. We also took the highest scores for specific satisfaction measures, including product reliability, communication, staff expertise, and customer care.
Rob McKendrick, Toyota GB’s director of customer services, commented: “Our survey results are a real testament to the dedication of our centres across the country, which consistently work hard to do business the way our customers expect and to deliver excellence in both our products and services. It’s especially rewarding to see such strong scores for trust and likelihood to recommend – the true measures of customer satisfaction and long‑term loyalty.”
Aygo X Hybrid is What Car?’s Small Car of the Year
Following on from its five-star review in What Car?’s recent road test, the new Aygo X Hybrid has now been named Small Car of the Year in the publication’s annual awards. This is in recognition of its ground-breaking status, owner appeal and class-leading qualities that keep running costs down. For example, the car delivers the lowest CO2 emissions of any non-plug-in car on the market, and the best official fuel economy figures, too.

Commenting on the judges’ decision, What Car? editor Steve Huntingford said: “Officially, the Toyota Aygo X Hybrid averages almost 75mpg, but our experience suggests that, if anything, this figure is conservative in stop-start traffic. It’s also a surprisingly nippy car, feeling perfectly at home on the motorway. Meanwhile, the linear power delivery makes smooth driving a cinch. The fantastic performance of the [outgoing] Aygo X in the latest What Car? Reliability Survey only adds to its appeal, with it achieving a 99.7% dependability rating.”

Marketing director wins Automotive 30% Club inspiring women award
Toyota GB’s marketing director, Emma Johnson, is being honoured at this year’s Auto30Club Inspiring Automotive Women awards. The awards are given to women for services to female inclusion in the automotive industry. They recognise and celebrate the amazing work they are doing above and beyond their day jobs to ensure women can thrive in the sector and be as successful as their male peers. Johnson will be presented with her award at a private Auto30Club ceremony at the Institute of the Motor Industry in March 2026.

Since beginning her career with Toyota on a student placement in 2005, Johnson has enjoyed product marketing roles with both the Toyota and Lexus brands, and management positions in sales and value chain. She was a founding member of our customer experience and innovation team, and was also assigned as a digital strategist at our European headquarters in Brussels. Now back in the UK, Johnson was appointed director of marketing in February 2025.
After hearing of her win, Johnson said: “I’m humbled to be named among such trailblazing leaders. This award isn’t just a proud moment – it reflects the culture of inclusivity, growth, and career mobility at Toyota. Throughout my career, I’ve benefited from incredible mentors and opportunities to take on new challenges, and I’m passionate about helping others do the same.”
All-new Hilux BEV voted the Best Pick-Up to Wait For
They say that good things come to those who wait. And according to the consumer LCV news, information and advice website Van Reviewer, it’s the all-new battery electric Toyota Hilux pick-up that holds the greatest promise in its segment. It was voted the Best Pick-Up to Wait For.

Announcing the award, Van Reviewer editor George Barrow commented: “What makes the Hilux BEV so significant is not just that it’s an electric pick-up, but that it is a Hilux. Toyota has approached the tricky task of electrifying a pick-up truck and stayed true to its beliefs and those of its customers, that the Hilux is a tough and uncompromising off-road vehicle. Adding a battery hasn’t changed that. The Toyota Hilux BEV is without doubt a truck that buyers should be considering this year.”
