Three-time BTCC champion Gordon Shedden is rejoining the British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) in 2025 in the Toyota Gazoo Racing UK team.
Affectionately known as Flash, Shedden currently has 52 victories to his name, which puts him in the top five of all-time BTCC winners and first among active competitors. The Edinburgh-born ace now hopes to add to those achievements behind the wheel of the British-built Corolla GR Sport, a car that has accumulated 17 victories, 30 further podium places, five pole positions and ten fastest lap times since its debut in 2019.

Shedden commented: “I was quite clear that I wouldn’t come back unless it was with a programme that I believed in. That is what I am confident I have found here with Toyota. The team is in a good place. Last year, three of the four Toyota drivers won races in the Corolla, so it’s evidently a very capable package. Experience counts for a lot in this championship and hopefully everything will come together and we can fight for race wins, if not more. That’s what we’re here for!”
Team principal Christian Dick added: “In addition to his unquestionable skill inside the cockpit, Shedden brings with him a wealth of experience. That will be invaluable as we continue to develop the Corolla in our efforts to extract the very last tenth-of-a-second out of it. I am confident that he can hit the ground running and be a leading contender from the outset.”

Who will be joining Shedden?
Toyota Gazoo Racing UK will be running a four-car team in the 2025 BTCC campaign. The first driver announced was rising star Ronan Pearson (below left). Prior to joining the touring car grid in 2023, the 23-year-old Scot was a multiple race winner and title contender in the one-make MINI Challenge. He was a points finisher in more than half of his BTCC races in 2024 and scored a maiden victory at Brands Hatch.

Second recruit into the Toyota Gazoo Racing UK fold was reigning Independents’ Trophy winner Árón Taylor-Smith (below). Having made his BTCC debut in 2011, the talented Irishman has consistently improved, to the point where last year he yielded no less than 20 class victories from 30 starts and was the only driver to tally points in every race.

There is just one final seat to be filled in Toyota Gazoo Racing UK’s driver line-up. All will be revealed soon, in advance of the start of this year’s 30-race campaign, which will get underway at Toyota Motor Manufacturing UK’s home track of Donington Park.
