Meet the all-new sixth generation Toyota RAV4, a model that builds on the legacy of its trailblazing predecessors to deliver even greater efficiency and introduce advanced technologies – all wrapped up in robust exterior styling that reflects its authentic SUV spirit.

Since the RAV4’s original launch back in 1994, the model’s versatility and reliability has resonated with over 15 million customers worldwide. And now that we’re introducing the sixth-generation RAV4, the powerful stance, rugged styling and underlying engineering assures fans that the new model’s core qualities not only continue but are stronger than ever before.
Further information and full details of the UK model range will be released in due course, but this is what we can reveal right now…
Sixth generation Toyota RAV4: latest hybrid technology
The all-new RAV4 will be available in Europe as a plug-in hybrid or full hybrid, both of which can be specified with either front- or all-wheel drive transmissions. This is in order that customers are provided with a choice of sustainable options regardless of where they live or their individual circumstances.

Leading the powertrain technology options is our next-generation plug-in hybrid system, which is better than ever before at operating as both an electric vehicle and convenient hybrid. It makes use of a new high-capacity lithium-ion battery, which at 22.7kWh is around 30% larger than that of the outgoing model. This enables the new RAV4 to achieve up to 62 miles of all-electric range – sufficient for the daily needs of most European customers – backed-up by the flexibility and dependability of our hybrid technology.
The battery pack has its roots in our electric vehicle development programme, and thanks to its improved internal cooling circuits and thermal management allows for significantly faster charging. With a 50kW DC charger onboard – a rare feature for a D-segment SUV – the battery can be replenished from 10-80% in as little as 30 minutes, depending on conditions. Charging at home or from public chargers is also quicker thanks to a new 11kW AC charger, which can elevate the battery from 10-80% in around three hours. That’s twice as fast as the system in the previous generation.

Plug-in models with intelligent all-wheel drive have a class-leading total system output of 300bhp, enabling a 0-62mph acceleration time of 5.8 seconds. For the first time on a plug-in RAV4, front-wheel drive transmission will be available; this version has a total system output of 264bhp. Both derivatives have enhanced driving dynamics thanks to increased body rigidity and a lower centre of gravity afforded by the battery’s under-floor location.
Meanwhile, the sixth generation RAV4’s full hybrid system has also been updated with a series of improvements to the transaxle, power control unit, battery and other components; the combination of which maximises the mileage driven in EV mode. Increased motor output contributes to seamless acceleration and prompt response. The all-wheel drive model’s maximum power has been increased to 188bhp and the front-wheel drive version is set at 181bhp.

New RAV4 GR Sport model
The all-new RAV4 GR Sport delivers a more dynamic driving experience and motorsport-inspired character. The wheel track is 20mm wider than its siblings and the suspension benefits from high-performance dampers, strengthened rear bracing and retuned springs and power steering for increased stability. Lightweight 20-inch black alloy wheels exclusive to this model also contribute to airflow management. Similarly exclusive is the eye-catching front grille with its hexagonal mesh design that creates a deeper 3D effect.

In the cabin, details emphasise the model’s connection to the multiple world championship-winning Toyota Gazoo Racing teams, including console knee pads, aluminium pedal set and sports seats. The black interior finish is intended to encourage focus on the road ahead. It features discreet GR logos and red accents, including on the steering wheel, knee pads and GR Sport-exclusive synthetic leather and suede seat upholstery.

Sixth generation Toyota RAV4: advanced software
The introduction of our Arene software development platform marks the beginning of a new era of software-defined vehicles, in which its advanced digital environment enables the creation and deployment of more advanced safety and multimedia features. Specifically, Arene enables the new RAV4 to debut the next generation of Toyota Safety Sense technologies, which now includes Front Cross Traffic Alert for the first time in this model. Each system now operates with faster response times, and convenient over-the-air software updates enables the suite of Toyota Safety Sense systems to be syncronised with the latest functionalities and improvements.

Within the all-new Arene-powered digital environment is the debut of a new, more compact Toyota multimedia system. A higher quality of information can be clearly displayed within the driver’s 12.3-inch combimeter and new 12.9-inch ‘home screen’, including points of interest, and real-time navigation details such as speed camera locations and low emission zone alerts.
The intuitive, user-friendly design on the central home screen – with customisable shortcuts, a quick settings menu and data privacy features – makes personalising and navigating the in-car digital environment easier than ever. The experience is enhanced by a responsive and precise voice assistant that can handle navigation, media, in-car temperature, and vehicle control commands. It will also receive regular over-the-air wireless software updates for continuous feature improvements.

The user-centric experience also goes beyond the cabin: the MyToyota app allows users to personalise services through subscription options, including faster remote services, an improved voice agent, drive recorder and music streaming.
