What’s changed for the 2020 Toyota Yaris?

Have you heard that there is an exciting, all-new Toyota Yaris on the way? Plans are being made to launch our next-generation supermini in the second half of 2020.

Yaris remains our best-selling model in Europe

However, we recognise that even though the existing model is nearing the end of production, it remains our best-selling model in Europe. And we’re hoping to maintain this popularity through a streamlined range bursting with attractive features.

The purpose of this post is to detail this new strategy and review your new options.

2020 Toyota Yaris: range overview

Customer deliveries of the revised 2020 Yaris began on 16 December. The popular hybrid range now consists of five distinct grades: Icon, Y20, Y20 Bi-Tone, GR Sport and Excel. Meanwhile, the conventional (non-hybrid) range has been rationalised to three grades: Icon, Y20 and Y20 Bi-Tone.

All new Yaris owners are now provided with connected car features

In both cases, the base model Active grade has been deleted, and the Y20 model takes the place of Icon Tech in what is predicted to be the most popular grade within the new line-up.

The Y20 will be available in all core colours for the widest possible customer choice, though those opting for Glacier White, Tyrol Silver or Eclipse Black paintwork will be able to upgrade their vehicle to Bi-Tone specification.

These revisions for the 2020 model year have also seen Toyota seize a further opportunity. All new Yaris owners are now provided with access to the MyT app and connected car features through the installation of a Data Communication Module (DCM). Standard throughout the range, the on-board DCM can enable a range of customer benefits, from journey tracking and location assistance to remote destination planning, accident assistance and maintenance reminders.

    1. Hi Carol,

Thanks for getting in touch. We’re sorry to hear you’re not completely happy with your car. Your Yaris does have other great features such as Toyota Touch 2 and Bluetooth connectivity that we hope you’ll be able to make use of as you keep getting used to your new car.

If you do wish to make a formal complaint, you can find our customer relations team’s contact details here: https://www.toyota.co.uk/contact-us/

      Thanks.

      1. Hi. Why is it not available on the Y20 if it is available in other existing models? Surely the technology would be the same/similar? The Touch With Go navigation system is does not remotely compare with Google Maps or Waze (and they are free).

      2. Hi Tal,
Thanks for getting in touch. We’re sorry to hear that you’re disappointed with the navigation system.
As the Y20 is an older model, it is incompatible with the newer technology that is used for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, meaning that a retrofit is unavailable.
All New Generation Yaris cars will have Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard due to their technological advancements allowing for the inclusion of these systems.
Once again, we are sorry to hear that you are unhappy with your car.
        Thanks.

  2. I dont understand why Android Auto cannot be made available on all models. I have just bought a Y20 and paid for the Sat Nav but it is does not even compare to Google Maps or Waze. This should be made clear in your marketing and at the dealer. This is my first Toyota and am very disappointed.

  3. Hi

I’ve just ordered a brand new Toyota Yaris “Design” grade which sits in between “Icon” and “Exec”, can you explain why the “Design” grade is not mentioned in this article?

  4. I have always associated myself and Faith Hope Charity International with your Yaris model ( Treat me with respect logo ) . However I made the mistake of purchasing a Aygo WU69 OJH and am very disappointed with a number of features , the boot arm broke and it is a very ‘ tinny car ‘ and would crush should I have a accident

I would like to go back to the Yaris for March of next year if your 0% is still available? Over a longer period of time as this maybe my last car if satisfied on seeing ! I have been a loyal customer since 2000 and have always managed to buy your ‘ special edition’ cars as I like to be associated with Japanese manufacturing of Toyota and hope to be sponsored by them in the near future to represent poverty alleviation and women living in poverty and suffering from austerity. My current order number is at Motor line Toyota Brislington ref no: 2851

    1. Hi Caroline,
Thank you for your loyalty over the years.
Your Toyota Centre would be best placed to discuss the best deals available for you.
Please let us know if we can assist further.
      Thanks.

    1. Hello Mansoor, thanks for your comment.

There is only the one colour option for the Yaris Excel grade at the moment. A darker interior option is available on the Icon and Design grades.

      Thanks.
