The Toyota Extended Warranty: long-term peace of mind

Your Toyota’s mechanical warranty comes to an end after five years or 100,000 miles, but it doesn’t have to. A Toyota Extended Warranty means you can sleep easy for years to come.

It doesn’t matter whether you have owned your Toyota from new or bought it as a used car, the Toyota Extended Warranty gives you the same benefits as the warranty package on a brand new Toyota. The list of covered components goes on and on:

  • engine components
  • clutch kit (except for wear & tear)
  • gearbox manual transmission
  • front wheel drive unit
  • rear axle
  • prop shaft
  • suspension
  • fuel system
  • diesel injection systems
  • electronic ignition
  • electrics
  • oil leaks
  • cooling system
  • steering
  • braking system
  • turbo charger
  • air conditioning
  • casings

The Toyota Extended Warranty also covers the replacement of covered parts which result in the failure of an MOT test.

Cover isn’t just comprehensive. If you want it to, it lasts a very long time. The Extended Warranty can continue until the car is 10 years old.

If a covered part fails during that time, Toyota is committed to fixing it. No if or buts, no sucking of teeth, no shirking of responsibility. You won’t pay for parts or labour, and we’ll have your Toyota back in perfect working order as quickly as we can.

For high-mileage drivers, a big plus with our Extended Warranty is that there’s no mileage limit unless you choose a restricted mileage policy. Drive as far and as often as you like and the cover remains the same.

You don’t have to opt for an unlimited mileage scheme if you don’t want to. Restricting the cover to 10,000 miles per year reduces the cost of the warranty, but still includes the same benefits. Whether you choose the unlimited or 10,000 miles per annum option, the Toyota Extended Warranty can be purchased in 12- or 24-month blocks (subject to vehicle eligibility).

To preserve your car’s Toyota Extended Warranty, it will need to be serviced at an Authorised Toyota Service Centre at least once a year or more frequently if the mileage is high. That means the car will only ever be worked on by Toyota technicians using genuine Toyota parts. We’ll know it’s been cared for to the highest possible standard, giving us the confidence to keep extending the warranty right up until the car’s 10th birthday.

Stick to the service schedule and we doubt you’ll need to make use of the warranty often. If you do, though, its good to know that if your car cannot be driven or cannot be driven without causing damage to it because a covered part has failed, you can claim up to five days’ car hire to a maximum of £45 a day (including VAT) after the first 24 hours (excluding the cost of consumables).

If the car fails an MOT, a Toyota Extended Warranty will protect you against the cost of repairing or replacing the protected part which led to the failure. As long as the car is repaired within 30 days of the failed MOT and then passes its re-test, your Toyota Extended Warranty will pay for the repair or replacement of covered parts, up to the car’s purchase price. You will have to pay the first £10 of any repair plus all MOT test fees.

As part of your Toyota Extended Warranty you will receive automatic membership of Toyota Roadside Assistance provided by the AA.

With comprehensive cover and a long list of additional benefits, we think you’d be hard-pressed to find better mechanical breakdown cover than a Toyota Extended Warranty.

  1. Hi Jonathon,

Thanks for getting in touch. If the pump has failed and the component is mentioned in your extended warranty policy document, then it should be covered. However, this depends on the level of cover you purchased at the time of sale. If you are experiencing any issues with your vehicle, we would advise for you to contact your local Toyota Centre for an inspection.

  2. My wife have bought the my Toyota Aygo in 2019 from private seller who had extended warranty from Aug 2019 to 2021. We have now transferred the warranty in our name. Will this extended warranty cover Roadside Assistance ?

    1. Hi SD,
      Thanks for getting in touch.
We would recommend contacting our Toyota Roadside Assistance team to check the status of your cover.
You can enquire with our team using this number: 0344 701 6201.

    1. Hi Graham,
      Thanks for your reply.
We’ve checked with our technical team, and the engine oil grade should be either API grade SN PLUS “Resource Conserving” or SP “Resource-Conserving”; or ILSAC GF-6A multigrade engine oil
The recommended viscosity of this engine oil is SAE 0W-20.

  3. My Auris is covered by a Toyota Extended Warranty….. today it was presented to my dealership for full service and MOT. The engineer found the car horn to be “inoperative”. I notice in my invoice that I have been charged labour for a repair to the horn wiring. Surely this repair is covered under the warranty?

    1. Hi,

The warranty covers any mechanical fault caused by a manufacturing defect. Please contact your nearest Toyota centre who can inspect the vehicle and advise further.

  4. I want to buy a used two year old Toyota hybrid from a non Toyota dealer. The car seems to have full service history. Will the warranties including for the hybrid battery remain valid for me?

    1. Hi AG,
Thanks for getting in touch with us. It’s great to hear that you are considering a Toyota!
As long as the recommended service schedule has been adhered to and genuine Toyota parts have been used, both the 5 year or 100,000 mile mechanical warranty and the 5 year or 100,000 mile hybrid battery warranty should still be valid.
However, you must also keep copies of the service invoices from the previous owner and check if the vehicle has been added to any written-off category, as any form of insurance write-off regrettably invalidates the manufacture warranty.
These warranties will automatically transfer over to you with the purchase of the car.
