Update on Toyota extended delivery times

Updated Toyota brand logo

Like many other businesses, Toyota is currently experiencing delays in the global supply chain for some of our components and this has unfortunately led to longer delivery times on some of our more popular new vehicles. In addition we are seeing unprecedented demand for our Hybrid Electric products.

Please be assured that our focus remains on doing everything we can to deliver our cars as quickly as possible and making sure that you have the most up to date information. Toyota’s global strength in production planning means that we have so far managed to minimise the impact of the shortages, but the global issues will result in delivery times longer than we would like.

Our Dealer network partners will have the very latest information and will be able to advise the best options for you, including the earliest available vehicles or sourcing our Approved Used cars.

Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.

  1. I wish I’d never ordered a Toyota, I’ve waited five months and been assured my car wouldn’t be delayed to find out on the delivery date that it might come in February but probably not. My questions are:

How do I complain about my dealer for misleading me every time I asked for an update as they assured me it would come in October and continually mislead me?

When is my car ACTUALLY arriving?

Global pandemic asside this is no way to run a business, you took my money and got a sale based on an 18 week delivery date only to find out after 18 weeks that it’s not even been processed yet and it might come in February but probably not. I wish I’d never bought a Toyota before the cars been built.

  2. I have to say I am very disappointed by the whole Toyota experience since ordering my new hilux in June. No updates received from the dealer, could never get speaking to the salesman when I called, and was told yesterday that he had now left. The delivery date was supposed to be in December. Advised yesterday it is now The end of April which is totally ridiculous! No one from the dealership has kept in touch with me or let me know that the date had been put back by 5 Months! Totally disgusted with the whole experience of buying my first Toyota. It will be my last.

  3. when i ordered the chr gr i asked if there would be any delays, i was told there wouldn’t be so went along with the order and expected delivery 5 th nov 2021 i now have been told it could be the end of december, not happy at all why do they tell you a date and then change it.

  4. We placed an order on 23/10 and have been told EDD will be 22/05/2022! 🤦‍♀️ 2 days ago the status in Toyota app changed to ‘Build in progress’ I wish we get our new car delivered before Xmas as we have got the trip planned!!! Our Toyota is built in California, so I guess time frame also depends on location (Japan/ USA) and equipment you want. So far so good.

    1. Ordered my Yaris Cross 24/08, estimated deliver 16/11 then 22/12 now its the 5/01/22.

What are Toyota doing to better these lead times? Any redress for the additional wait time?

      1. Hi there,
        Thanks for your comment.
Please be assured that we are doing everything we can to deliver our cars as quickly as possible and making sure that you have the most up to date information.
However, the global issues will result in delivery times longer than we would like.
        Thanks.

  5. What’s the lead time for a Toyota RAV4 ? Each dealership is giving a different estimated time. Varying from 4 months to 9. None of them could give any guarantee about when it would be delivered.

    1. Hi Neil,
Thanks for your comment. There are currently several factors affecting RAV4 lead times.
An order placed today would be likely be produced in around May, with an ETA of around July.
      Thanks.

  6. Hi Toyota first of all thank you for your excellent quality of current cars. We ordered our Rav4 early August 21 and we had an inclination that the Semiconductor issue may play a part in a delay for production of our car, our current car is a 1993 Honda Civic and is nearly past its sell buy date and is coming up for a £1000 expense for MOT drive shafts etcetera, anyway we have also been told that our new car might be here February but can’t guarantee, so we have decided to buy an interim car from Toyota that was a trade in until it arrives and then give it back with minimal loss so we are happy. Its a shame that people are not more aware of the Semiconductor issue as it’s been in the news a lot not just for cars but everything electrical.so give Toyota and all the car sales personnel including all electrical consumer Items, a little break because the Semiconductor issue is here for quite a while 🤗🤗.

      1. We have purchased a 2011 Toyota Auris that has been well maintained at Toyota despite having 126,000 miles we are confident that it will be reliable until our new RAV4 arrives especially as our old Toyota Corolla
18years ago didn’t let us down at all 🤗

    1. Hi Marilyn,
We are sorry to hear about this.
Please be assured that we are doing everything we can to ensure that you are behind the wheel of your new Hilux as soon as possible.
      Thanks.

  7. Ordered my New Corolla GR Sport 2.0 Hatchback 20th August 2021, being assured the car would be ready by mid November. I was told that after a few days it will appear in the MyT app where I could track the build. After 7 weeks and several phone calls from me about no car in the app, the dealer phoned me to tell me the order had not been placed, as they had offered me a colour which was not available on this model. I chose a new colour, they assured me the order was now definitely placed, but now expect the car by end of January/early February 2022. Still no car appearing in the app, and now a new story from the dealer saying the car won’t appear until they start building it. This is my first Toyota and will definitely be the last!

  8. I ordered a new Yaris cross premier spec in Nov. 21. Was told it would arrive April, now it’s June
Don’t think I can wait that long , how do I buy quicker?

    1. Hello Bill, thanks for your comment.

We are currently experiencing delays in the global supply chain for some of our components and this has unfortunately led to longer delivery times on some of our more popular new vehicles. This is something that is being experienced across the industry and is out of our control. We are working to fulfil orders as quickly as possible and are not able to improve the lead time of any orders.

Your local Toyota Centre will be best placed to provide updates on your new purchase and we appreciate your patience in the meantime.

      Thanks.

  9. I ordered yaris cross on 19/11/21 and I dont even have even an approx delivery date, why there is such difference in treatment with curstomers who are not from UK
I been reading all the relative topics on delivery dates and i see people with something on their hands I mean they got a date, I dont
Dealer said there will be a clearer situation in april or march, its very disappointing for me, what if the car will arrive in a year, what if there is something I dont like, what if I will change my mind in a year

    1. Hi there,
Firstly, thank you for your order.
Secondly, we can assure you that there is no difference in treatment.
People who have approximate delivery dates will have ordered their vehicles a few months prior.
Please continue to liaise with your Centre as they will have the most up to date information on your vehicle.
      Thanks.

      1. we are getting 1 year delivery dates, i really have no words on the situation, i doubt people will wait that long
and the dealers are no real help
