Toyota Aygo Mode and Move models round-off revised line-up

Toyota has revised the line-up of the much-loved Toyota Aygo city car. There are now four trim levels – Active, Active plus,Mode and Move, and each benefits from improved safety kit, while Mode and Move models also boast a raft of big-car equipment.

Entry-point Active models come equipped with VSC stability control, curtain airbags, ISOFIX child seat mounts and seatbelt buckle-up reminders for driver and front passenger as standard – this is in addition to the ABS, EBD and driver and passenger front and side airbags previously offered. Practically gets a boost too, thanks to the addition of a 50:50 split-folding rear seatback with detachable headrests.

Style is at the heart of the Mode model, which wears 14-inch eight-spoke Ragno alloy wheels, and has front fog lights, rear privacy glass, LED daytime running lights and body-coloured door handles and mirrors.

The Aygo Move focuses on luxury and tech, offering standard air conditioning, a leather steering wheel and gearknob, and an intuitive portable dash-mounted TomTom sat nav system – incorporating mapping, bluetooth, and a USB port and iPod connection.

To help keep their Aygo showroom fresh, buyers can specify a Protection Pack on five-door Aygo Mode and Move models, consisting of rear parking sensors, front and rear mud flaps, carpet mats and side protection mouldings. For a further dash of style, a Design Pack adds front scuff plates, rear chrome trim and a chrome exhaust housing.

There are now seven colours for the Aygo. New hue Nero Rosso is available on Mode and Move models, and combines deep red bodywork with a contrasting black roof, while Napoli Blue metallic is exclusive to Move grade.

A bold new range of roof decals is available  and includes Union Jack designs in red-white-and-blue or monochrome, and a chequered flag. White gloss, and gloss or matt black contrasting roof colours are also available.

All of the Aygo’s winning qualities remain, with Toyota’s acclaimed 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol engine under the bonnet and still boasting tax-busting emissions of 99g/km and an official combined economy figure of  65.7mpg.

The new Aygo range is on sale now, priced from £8,595. Three and five-door models are available across the range.

Avensis line-up update

The Toyota Avensis line-up has also benefitted from a Summer revision, with the arrival of Edition and Select models.

Based on the entry-level Access trim, the Select models gain daytime running lights, new-design 16-inch wheelcaps, leather steering wheel trim and a six-speaker audio system with Bluetooth. It is available for the 1.8-litre Valvematic petrol saloon and 2.0-litre D-4D saloon and Tourer models, priced from £16,495.

Meanwhile, the Edition adds automatic windscreen wipers and headlights, automatic air conditioning, 17-inch machine-faced alloy wheels, front fog lights and Toyota’s Touch & Go multimedia system with touchscreen, navigation, on-line connectivity, rear-view camera, Bluetooth and USB port. The Edition package is available with the 1.8 Valvematic and 2.0 D-4D saloon and Tourer models, priced from £18,495.
