New Toyota Aygo x-clusiv and x-play concept for Europe at Frankfurt

This information relates to the European debut of the new Aygo x-clusiv. Details and availability of the UK model will be announced at a later date.

The second generation Toyota Aygo has proved extremely popular, amassing almost 95,000 sales across Europe since its launch last year. Customers have responded enthusiastically to the great customisation possibilities it offers and Toyota makes full use of Aygo’s mix-and-match exterior elements to keep the showroom range fresh and exciting.

Following on from this summer’s introduction of the new x-cite and x-pure special edition models, a new Aygo x-clusiv is in the pipeline, adding a more sophisticated dimension to the line-up.

The new x-clusiv is fitted with the x-wave electrically retracting canvas roof and is finished in Electro Grey paint, which contrasts with silver body elements – the front ‘X’ graphic, front pillar extensions, front bumper trim detail and rear bumper insert. The wheels are five-spoke 15-inch alloys with a machined finish, silver centre cap and piano black centre ring. To add impact to the car’s side profile, a chrome belt line detail and rear privacy glass will be available.

The theme continues in the cabin with Electro Grey air vent surrounds, centre cluster and gear lever surround. The instrument panel insert and floor mat inserts are silver and the internal door handles are finished in chrome.

Aygo is now available with Toyota Safety Sense, a new package of active safety technologies designed to help prevent or mitigate collisions in a wide range of traffic situations.

It includes a laser-controlled Pre-Collision System that warns the driver of an imminent collision with a vehicle ahead (Forward Collision Warning) and readies Pre-Crash Brake Assist to deliver emergency braking as soon as the brake pedal is pressed. If the driver fails to take action, the system will initiate Autonomous Emergency Braking to reduce speed by about 19mph, potentially bringing the car to a stop, to prevent a collision or reduce the force of impact.

The Forward Collision Warning works at speeds between 10 and 86mph, when the relative speed between the Aygo and the car ahead is greater than 10mph. The Pre-Crash Brake Assist functions at speeds between 19 and 49mph, with relative vehicle speeds greater than 19mph. For Autonomous Emergency Braking, the speed range is from seven to 49mph.

A Lane Departure Alert function is also included. This monitors lane markings on the road and helps prevent accidents and head-on collisions caused by a vehicle moving out of its lane. If the car starts to deviate from its lane without the turn indicators being used, the system alerts the driver with visual and audible warnings.

The show car has Cyan Splash exterior paintwork with White Flash for the roof, front ‘X’, front pillars, front bumper trim, rear bumper insert and door mirrors. The 10-spoke 15-inch alloys are finished in white, with Cyan Splash centre caps. The theme is carried through to the cabin with a Cyan Splash dashboard and White Flash trim details.
