Toyota Auris price and specification

The stylish Toyota Auris can be yours from just £14,945, and is available in 16 versions across four grades.

The line-up comprises entry-level Active trim, mid-range Icon and Sport models, and flagship Excel. The engine range includes 1.33 Dual VVT-i and 1.6 Valvematic petrol and 1.4 D-4D diesel units. The petrol-electric Auris Hybrid with Hybrid Synergy Drive is also available.

Toyota Auris prices are shown at the bottom of this page.

Auris Hybrid uses an E-CVT automatic, while all other cars are fitted with a six-speed manual transmission. Toyota’s Multidrive S CVT automatic is offered as an option on the 1.6 Valvematic.

The 1.33 Dual VVT-i engine is available in Active and Icon grades; the 1.6 Valvematic in Icon, Sport and Excel; and the 1.4 D-4D in all trims. Auris Hybrid comes in Icon and Excel versions.

Auris is equipped as standard with seven airbags, a follow-me-home lighting system, Hill-start Assist Control, Vehicle Stability Control and LED daytime running lights.

Active models come with automatic air conditioning, a four-speaker audio system with handy USB and Aux connections, electrically adjustable, heated door mirrors and electric front windows.

Icon grade goes further to provide 16-inch alloys (15-inch for the hybrid), a six-speaker sound system with a DAB digital tuner and Toyota Touch for multimedia touchscreen control, plus Bluetooth and a rear-view camera. Electric front and rear windows, leather steering wheel and gearshift trim and front fog lamps are also all included in the standard specification.

Sport models introduce some extra sporty details beyond the Icon specification, including 17-inch alloys (16-inch for the diesel), a rear diffuser and tailpipe trim, rear privacy glass, sports seats and a sports front grille.

Excel packs in a superb array of comfort and convenience features including 16 or 17-inch alloy wheels, black velour upholstery with leather-finished side bolsters, dual-zone climate control, Smart Entry and Start, cruise control (not provided on diesel versions), rain-sensing wipers and dusk-sensing headlights, heater front seats, rear privacy glass and a folding function on the door mirrors.

Auris also features a sophisticated parking assist system that makes easier work of reversing into kerbside spaces. It’s designed to be more intelligent than ever, for example taking account of any obstacles on the other side of the road in narrow streets, and programming steering so that the car moves as little as possible over to the other side of the road.

And as well as helping you steer into a space, it will help guide you out again. It’s fitted to all Excel versions of Auris and available as an option on Icon and Sport models.

Other options on offer include an upgrade of Toyota Touch to Touch & Go, including satellite navigation, on-line connectivity and services and more advanced Bluetooth functions.

Excel models can be fitted with Skyview, a fixed panoramic roof that sweeps back from the top of the windscreen to add to Auris’s striking looks, and make the interior feel brighter and more spacious.

You can also specify a Comfort Pack for Sport models, which bundles rain-sensing wipers, dusk-sensing headlights, Smart Entry and Start and a folding function for the door mirrors.

  1. In my opinion, the new Auris is very well priced compared to the likes of the new Ford Focus, and the 3 new cars on the MQB platform (new VW Golf, SEAT Leon and Audi A3).

What I’d like to know is this:

What made Toyota choose a completely different approach to trim levels, instead of the usual suspects, e.g. T2, TR, T Spirit, etc?

When will the price list for the Auris Tourer be released?

Do you reckon that this 2nd generation model will sell as good as the current model?

    Regards,

    James

    1. I’d also like to raise the naming of the different trim levels. Words like “Icon”, Excel” and “Active” are meaningless and also used by other car manufacturers. At least with Toyota’s T2, T3, T-Spirit etc. system you knew exactly where you were. Even the S, GS, GLS, CDX system was simple enough to follow. I don’t agree with the new naming system. I’d also like to say that I think New Auris looks extremely similar to a certain Hyundai from the rear, and fairly similar to a certain Honda from the front. This is coming from a very deeply passionate Toyota and Lexus fan.

  2. The thing is, Guys, Toyota owners are not so vain and shallow as to define their status by a hierarchy of car trim levels

    1. It’s not a question of vanity, it’s a question of value for money. The fact is that the current Auris TR is better equipped than the new Icon, the so-called equivalent grade. The new car gives less for more.

  3. I am impressed with what I see of the new Auris. It looks more appealing than the forthcoming VW Golf and will no doubt be better value for money but I agree with the comments above about the new trim levels which I think already sound rather dated. I preferred the old T3 Tspirit SR grading.

  4. I ordered an OLD Auris 1.6 M/M from the colour collection which had rear camera, rain operated wipers, dusk sensing headlights, cruise control, auto turning door mirrors, smart entry and start all as STANDARD but the factory refused to make one. This is only standard on the EXCEL model which costs £6,000 more than the old Colour Collection. WHY?

  5. Hi MW,
Thanks for your question. The optional specification available on the new Auris Hybrid Excel will include: Toyota Touch & Go+ navigation, Skyview Panoramic roof and leather seats.
    We hope this helps.

  6. Given that cruise control helps with fuel economy, it is really surprising to find it not fitted as standard on all hybrids…

I love my Auris Hybrid – I find the steering and handling to be more accurate and engaging compared to the Prius, I just wish it looked as good as the new Auris. If the handling characteristics of the new one are at least as good as the current Auris, then it will sell big!
