Toyota GB today, 02 August 2012, announced it would recall a number of its Toyota RAV4, Avensis and Auris models in the UK to carry out modifications to their rear suspension.

It is working with the Vehicle and Operator Services Agency (VOSA) to contact registered owners and keepers by letter to advise them of the procedure for taking their vehicle to an authorised Toyota repairer for the necessary repair work to be done.

The issue affects the following models:
RAV4 produced between November 2005 and August 2010
Auris produced between February 2007 and March 2011
Avensis produced between November 2008 and January 2011

The concern is related to potential insufficient tightening of the nuts for the alignment of rear wheel.

There have been no reports of accidents related to this condition in the UK or Europe; nine very minor accidents have been reported in North America.

Toyota is currently advising owners of this safety recall and will notify again as soon as a repair is available. When the repair is available, customers will be advised to make an appointment to have their vehicle inspected at a Toyota Centre. The inspection and subsequent repair (if required) will take place at no cost to the customer.

Jon Williams, Managing Director of Toyota GB PLC, said, “We are committed to putting the customer first and have a total focus on the quality of all our products. We will liaise with our customers to carry out the repair procedures as efficiently as possible, with minimal disruption.”
