Meet the Toyota bZ4X Touring, a new pure electric model that widens the existing bZ4X model’s appeal with stronger, more verstatile performance and, of course, a significant increase in load space. These key qualities were engineered to allow customers the opportunity to choose an electric vehicle without compromising their active lifestyle or the flexibility demanded of family transport.

The new Toyota bZ4X Touring is scheduled for introduction in the UK in the spring of 2026. Further information and full details of the UK model range will be released nearer the launch, but this is what we can reveal right now…
Where will the bZ4X Touring sit within the Toyota range?
The bZ4X Touring will further strengthen our comprehensive coverage of the key B-, C- and D-segment electric SUV categories, joining the all-new Urban Cruiser (B) and Toyota C-HR+ (C) and revised bZ4X (D) in the expanding line-up. With this triumvirate of authentic battery electric SUVs, Toyota offers models to suit a wide spectrum of customer requirements and preferences, be it performance, cost efficiency, or – with the new bZ4X Touring – a vehicle that’s perfectly tailored for busy family life.

Focus on space
The new bZ4X Touring was designed to offer a seamless extension of the established bZ4X’s SUV body style. It is 140mm longer and 20mm taller overall (total figures of 4,830 and 1,670mm respectively), dimensions that increase the load compartment capacity to a generous, paraphernalia-swallowing 600 litres – one third more than the regular bZ4X. A flexible 40:60 rear seat arrangement makes it straightforward to extend the available space when required.

Powertrain and performance
The new bZ4X Touring follows Toyota’s principle of offering models with a built-in breadth of choice. It will be available with either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive powertrains, both of which are equipped with a 74.7kWh lithium-ion battery and either an 11kW or 22kW onboard charger (grade dependent). Fast DC charging will achieve speeds of up to 150kW. The targeted maximum output for the front-wheel drive model is 221bhp; and for the all-wheel drive version it’s 376bhp, which will make it the most powerful Toyota BEV on the market. Adding to these SUV credentials is the fact that the bZ4X Touring will be able to tow trailers up to 1,500kg.

The drive battery features our latest advances in improving performance and charging times. It incorporates a new water cooling system and preconditioning function to ensure the battery is at optimum temperature when charging starts. Each battery pack is covered by our Battery Care Programme, which covers it for up to ten years of vehicle age, or up to 650,000 miles driven, subject to an annual battery health check.

Both front- and all-wheel drive powertrains benefit from our new eAxle drive units. This device integrates the gearbox, motor and inverter into one compact unit, and adopts new silicon carbide semiconductors to operate with greater efficiency. Models equipped with all-wheel drive feature an eAxle on both ends, with the balance of torque between the two controlled by our intelligent XMODE drive control technology. In addition, Grip Control provides extra traction and surefooted performance on rougher or looser surfaces – the kind of roads that might be encountered on a family adventure.

Presenting a more rugged look
While the bZ4X projects a sleek, high-tech look, the bZ4X Touring’s spacious, estate-like body adopts a series of styling details that emphasise a more rugged and adventurous spirit, such as a grained black finish for the wheel arches and black wheels. Another Touring-specific feature is the robust roof rails, making it even easier to transport sports equipment or long loads up to a maximum of 70kg.

The principal design changes are around the extended rear, with a new lower bumper design and LED combination lamps. The monotone exterior colours will include the new Brilliant Bronze paintwork seen in these images.

Inside, the cabin features a new design similar to the new bZ4X: a new centre console for easy use of digital devices and revised instrument panel design, with a 14-inch multimedia screen fitted as standard. The interior finish will include a new City Moss upholstery colour (see interior images), in tune with the model’s SUV character. The multimedia system also provides a navigation function to help the driver plan routes that include recommended charging locations based on the state of charge and remaining range.
Details of the new Toyota bZ4X Touring were correct at the time of publishing, with all performance data remaining tentative prior to homologation. The full UK model range and grade specifications will be announced soon, ahead of its launch in spring 2026.
