Geneva motor show: Auris HSD almost here

The world’s motoring press will be descending on Geneva over the next couple of days. The reason? The 80th International Salon Auto sees the world premiere of the new production-ready Toyota Auris HSD (pictured above).

We’ve been getting excited about the launch of this new full hybrid model for a very long time. Fortunately, I’ll be at the show tomorrow to report on events as they happen. Make sure you stay close to over the next week to find out the latest details. For up-to-the-minute news, you can follow us on Twitter.

Until then, we’ve got some pre-launch info for you. Being a hybrid, low emissions and great fuel economy are very important. Well, we can now confirm that the Auris HSD will deliver class-leading CO2 emissions of just 89g/km and an official combined cycle fuel consumption of 74.3mpg.

With the first European sightings of the Prius Plug-in Hybrid and FT-EV electric vehicle concept, Toyota hybrids really will be all the rage. Did we also mention the FT-86 and the official unveiling of the 2010 RAV4? The show promises to have something for every Toyota fan.

Update 5/3/10: All our photos from the show can now be found on Flickr.

  1. I wasn’t impressed by the Auris in its initial appearance, but those figures are a little better than I was expecting. Still, I’m looking forward more to the FT-CH shown in Detroit in January.

    First Impressions – Good.

First Niggle – My house (built in 2000) doesn’t exist in the sat nav.
I make that a brand new, 10 year out of date mapping system.

I’m off to Halfords to find out if I exist on a cheap Tom Tom.?
